All Things Must Pass

Thirza Ember: this week, it would have been the 73rd birthday of John Lennon, so I was looking for a beatles destination for us... the first destination today is the RL garden of George Harrison. It was designed and built by Mudpuddle Cleanslate, I hope you will enjoy it.
Star Ravenhurst: Sounds awesome Thirza
Thirza Ember: you may remember Mudpuddle's other build Pepperland and Pepperland 2... they are also here on Littlefield as is his build for Van Gogh, called Arles.
James atLLOUD: OH yes, very much.
Thirza Ember: he is very particular about the details
SIWAS S: (de:en)  I am excited
Thirza Ember: welcome to Friar Park, this is a real house just outside London. Mudpuddle Cleanslate is a big Beatles fan - he built this; he is a professional at graphic art... as you can see
Star Ravenhurst: Nice entrance!
Forest Azure: some dog!

Home Sweet Gnome

"Sometimes I feel like I'm actually on the wrong planet,
and it's great when I'm in my garden.
But the minute I go out the gate I think:
'What the hell am I doing here?' "

George Harrison
In January 1970, George Harrison bought a house called Friar Park, on the western edge of  the Thames-side town of Henley, about an hour west of central London. The 60-acre estate has its feet, as it were, in the realm of the bus-stop-and-bins of suburbia, but its head rests quietly on the edges of the Chilterns. A rambling neo-gothic mansion built in the 1880's, by the '70s Friar Park had fallen into such a state of disrepair that it was due to be demolished. Instead, it was rescued and repaired. For thirty years it was home to Harrison, and the location of his main recording studio, and his family live there to this day.
The house must have hundreds of tales to tell, but this post is about the garden, which has been recreated in the virtual world of Littlefield Grid by Pete Clements, aka Mudpuddle Cleanslate, on a region called 'All Things Must Pass'. This picture, as with all the landscape images below, was taken in that place in the  metaverse.

Mud's Pepper

Our second stop this week was on Littlefield grid, on a region called Pepperland. the HG Address is as usual at the end of this post.

This signature build by Mudpuddle Cleanslate is a celebration of the movie Yellow Submarine, and comprises a pair of regions, one showing the land-based scenes from the famous animated movie, the other (Pepperland II) dedicateed to the underwater part of the action, as shown here.
Mud has cleverly rendered in 3 D the 2D drawings of stylized people, fantastic animals and improbably exotic plants, as well as surreal elements like the pointing hand that flies like a rocket around the region.

An Arrowing Safari

Yellow Submarine time! Safari headed off to Pepperland this week. It was about a year ago that we last visited Mudpuddle Cleanslate and Chelsea Louloudi's Beatle-inspired world. HG Addresses at the end of the post, as always.

The Kids are Arles Right

James AtLLOUD: Thank yous to our hosts and organizers. W00t w00t.

If you'd been on Metropolis about 3 hours before the start of this week's Safari, you would have found Art Blue rehearsing his performance on a perfectly functioning Futurelab sim.  Art's Performance, which kicked off the first Safari of the month had as its theme 'open sim identity', although this being Art, it was a lot more complicated than that. But to help him illustrate the point, there were four Thirzas online, three of them hanging out in Futurelab, his combination workshop, theater, community sandbox and meeting-place sim, complete with Harry's bar. We sat in the Safari zoo and tested the stage as he went through his lines, little thinking that by 12 noon grid time, something sinister would happen.
Here's Lena's 11 pm post on the Metropolis Forum *thanks, Google translate!*
