It was the last but one Safari of the season, next week is our finale, until September when the Fall season begins. If you're interested in having us come visit your region or your grid in the Fall, don't hesitate to send me a message on Opensimworld or whichever social you can find me on.
As usual we met on the HG Safari grid where that big yellow prim contains the LMs and a very short notecard with info about the trip. But in just the twinkle of an eye it was time to head for destination one, on Pangea, the art-friendly grid owned by Marlon Wayne and Tutz Zabelin, who were there to welcome us.
Marlon Wayne: Hello everyone
Marlon Wayne: Hello everyone
Tutz Zabelin[sv→en]: Hi all
James.Atlloud: Nyx, this is amazing. Is there a pbx reflection in the sky? It's CRAZY!
Nyx Breen: EEP effects... have a few, and for sea also
Thirza Ember: I guess I messed up the LM somehow but we are all here now, apologies for any delay
Nyx Breen: welcome Havoc, hello and welcome everyone, please have your shared environment on and max your graphics

Arriving on Immersive 3 is intense!
Nyx Breen: up we go
Angelic Kisses: oh wow
Nyx Breen: Since my first foray into Second Life in 2005, I have been captivated by the world of Virtual Arts. My journey has been a testament to my unwavering passion as I've delved into all the opportunities available to artists.

We are like ants in this environment!
Nyx Breen: I've embraced every aspect of this evolving art, from mastering the art of prim building, texturing, and scripting to exploring advanced settings in the builder's box, sculptures, mesh, and animation. Creators and artists have taken advantage of the changes and capitalized on creating something new, sometimes being the first to do it. Virtual worlds and their respective technologies are expanding the capabilities of creators and artists to apply unique applications to their environments.

Nyx Breen: With the development of more creative experiences and possibilities provided by updated viewers, my style of virtual art has changed. I have been focusing on Immersive experiences for the last few years or so. Just imagine being able to look at a painting and then physically enter it. With virtual art, you are looking at a flat screen that provides a 2D view of an art piece created in a virtual world setting, giving the viewer a 3D effect. A little trippy in concept, but we are living in the future now. I have focused on creating "Mesh Effect Art" pieces and "EEP Immersive Art." I am the first to admit that saying that sentence usually gets a "WTF?"
Thirza Ember: amazing WTFEEP is a nice new word
Nyx Breen: Mesh Effect Art involves using mesh prims and applying X-Y-Z axis settings, size settings, and different textures and scripts to the objects. Then, the objects are placed in a virtually large space, a minimum size of a single sim. EEP Immersive Art involves applying unique textures to environmental settings and manipulating them to produce the desired artistic feel for the space. The larger the space, the more significant the effect can be achieved.
Nara Nook: This is such a cool idea
Nyx Breen: The challenge in creating a new style of virtual art is that you have to literally teach individuals how to look at it in a virtual world so that they can see it. So, you must ensure that shared environment settings are used and graphic settings utilize shaders and max out the graphic settings. For some individuals, this is a new experience in applying the settings and the potential learning curve involved with this procedure.
James Atlloud: I agree about the 'teaching to see' comment Nyx
Forest Azure: you are going very fast, Nyx
Nyx Breen: Then, the visual experience itself from the significant upgrade of their graphics settings. I promise you will never go back. I pushed into this art style by doing some creative effects for an art show, Lampi, and I have over Immersive 4 here on Pangea.

Lampi is the dynamo behind the whole of the Pangea Art and Culture festival
Nyx Breen: beautiful show there, pangea is full of amazing art. I made the space with a floor resembling an infinity mirror effect with Lampi's face. I wanted to balance it with the sky, represented by images of my face, one thing leading to another.
Nyx Breen: The face effects led me to take it to the extreme and create abstract art that produces emotional reactions from individuals who experience them. With these art forms, the possibilities for creativity and personalization are boundless. Whether you're a photographer, a machinima creator, or a builder, the virtual world is your canvas. You can create dramatic or sublime environments to step up your fantasy, sci-fi, or art gallery sim setting.
Nyx Breen: i created this to show off my Virtual art and RL photography, all images are mine. The unique sky and sea effects you can make are a testament to the limitless potential of virtual art, giving you complete control over your artistic vision. To all cutting-edge artists in virtual worlds, I invite you to join me in shaping the future of virtual art. ... always looking to collaborate with others!
Nyx Breen: This is not just a trend but a soon-to-be requirement for new creations and installations. Your innovative ideas and creations drive the evolution of virtual art, and I look forward to seeing what we can create together. Currently, on Pangea, the Art grid of OS, I have an 8X8 Var, an experience you have not had in any virtual world before. I am working on allowing individuals visiting to change the EEP settings on their viewer with a collision prim.

The photos seen through water take on a new life of their own
Thirza Ember: you also looking for ways to share inworld art with people who don't know much about opensim or virtual worlds?
Nyx Breen: I have had a couple of events and tours and manually changed the settings; imagine a sky and sea show across the whole sim. A factor or two needs to be considered, especially for individuals who may have issues with flashing lights and repetitive motions. Those who have yet to visit one of my installations often raise this concern.
Nyx Breen: The size of the installation space mitigates the effect when it is perceived as off in the distance; the physical effects are diminished or even non-existent. Moving back from the screen will effectively eliminate this effect. The most mentioned feeling individuals express to me is how they feel emotionally after experiencing virtually one of my installations.
Nyx Breen: I would love to reach out to any university or business where research into virtual experiences and emotional experience research to have a look at this effect. Over the course of this remaining year, I will be hosting a series of events on Bespoke on Immersive 3 here in Pangea. These events will bring together artists from across the grid to create and showcase unique, never-before-seen experiences. I believe these events will not only inspire but also provide a platform for us to collaborate and shape the future of virtual art.
Dings Digital: there are a lot of new perspectives here
Nyx Breen: Let me address what this installation we are in is about. we are in a 4x4 VAR sim that has EEP effects activated in the sky and waters. Featured with in the space are RL images from my photography and I have used mesh art effects and particles. A bit of old school and current virtual art techniques. All of these are effected by the changes in the Shared Experiences EEP effects.
Thirza Ember: Sixtus and Bink have an appropriately giant avatar for this giant region
In RL, Nyx lives not far from Boston, in Revere MA, close to the seashore. He's closely involved in the art community there and describes himself as a 'RL Photographer, Curator, Producer' in that order, to which we can add digital artist.
James Atlloud: oh, that's awesome.
Nyx Breen: any questions
Thirza Ember: what kind of events do you have planned, will they be interactive? And you mentioned other artists participating, can you name names?
Nyx Breen: performers and other artists
Forest Azure: yes.. is there any info somewhere about all that you just told? it was very fast and very much and i have the feeling this is very important, so i'd like to read about it later on
Nyx Breen: HG Safari will have a write up
Thirza Ember: lol for sure, and I'm guessing also Lampi will have a lot of info on the Pangea website.
Lampithaler Artist: A special Nyx feature is currently in the making.
Thirza Ember: I'm hoping there will be many rides when you do these collaborations, because one of the nicest things about virtual art is when you have Avatar participation. Another question, have you considered for example working with a storyteller like Nara to set up an installation? That would be so neat
Nyx Breen: I am up for any thing, friend me and let me know what you like
Thirza Ember: Nyx tell us how hard did you find it to return to opensim after months of being away?
Nyx Breen: hardest part was getting back on line here my main computer died on me and a few years of info locked in it. Also, I was very busy in RL, doing shows and working with state reps and senators to go after a state act for funding for arts
Nara Nook: ouch
Nyx Breen: Lampi got me back in

Lampithaler and Nyx
Thirza Ember: well done Lampi!
Lampithaler Artist: There is an incredible amount to discover within it, and together with the entire installation, the experience becomes even more fascinating and immersive. I especially experience the interplay between the photographs, the space, and the surrounding atmosphere as incredibly powerful and impressive.
Nyx Breen: there are boats to go around in, and platforms to view from if you got a notecard at the arrival point, that will help
Nara Nook: wow
Angelic Kisses: this is wild...lol
Dings Digital: plays with perception :)
Nyx Breen: i have over 2000 combos between sky and sea
Lampithaler Artist: The photographs are truly impressive
Thirza Ember: Nyx how important is it to use art from former installations? Do you sense that they bring extra significance to new builds because of the memories and associations? Also, it's a lot of work - what inspires you to keep working at it?
Nyx Breen: art is a large part of my life from school days as a kid. I have created all of that time. made video games for commadore 64's...
James Atlloud: <james fondly remembers the c64>
Nyx Breen: This was a bit of some past things and new new is mostly my rl images these are 'hologram scripts' - actually particles they will always face your viewer no matter what direction you look at them from, this is a large space over 500 RL images and lots of old-school effects
James Atlloud: Cool how those particle scripts would move away as I got near both in avatar and in flycam... has anyone asked about the music? who made it, and so on. it accompanies this build so well.
Nyx Breen: the music is this station http://radio.hbr1.com:19800/ambient.ogg
Nyx Breen: ok can walk around get lost or ride speed boats in here you can swim here too, good luck, get lost, crash
Taarna Welles: Sorry, lost control. :D
Max Well: It’s a very interesting and surprising show.
James Atlloud: Most excellent - is the region always online?
Thirza Ember: alex crashing into the shore so dramatic! and I just saw Bink parallel park her boat, this place is for geniuses

Lampithaler Artist: Wonderful.. that was so much fun. The boats are really fast, and incredibly impressive in this environment.
Thirza Ember: it's just about time for us to go - I hope we will all get to revisit soon and see the colaborations !
Bink Draconia: thx for showing us your work, nyx
Nyx Breen: very glad you all enjoyed it I have to thank Marlon and my dear friend Lampi for the ability to create this type of art
Taarna Welles: ~** APPLAUSE **~
Dings Digital: ║ APPLAUSE!!║
Forest Azure: thank you so much, Nyx.. and i think i will need a talk with you soon!
Angelic Kisses: thank you NYX
Alex Salamander: Thanks for the great experience here
Nara Nook: Yes Ty this was amazing
