Cornflakes in Bloom

The second half of an uproarious, imaginative, and musical Cornflakes Week party was on Winxtropia! A big shout out to everyone who makes the effort (and it's not always easy, as we're all busy people) to honor the event with their great costumes, and by showing up and being part of the fun! But most of all, of course, to our hosts who do so much work behind the scenes, it's crazy. Here we are arriving on Crescent Melody, Winxtropia, among the incredible instruments that play such a vital part to the event.
Jupiter Rowland: Finally I get to see this sim on a decently powered machine.
Bloom Peters:  hehe i love all the cool new avatars to see
Lavia Lavine: ...she said I reminded her of a bag of Wonder Bread
Bloom Peters: Angelic with a cool avatar too, very unique
Lavia Lavine: So I guess I'll just loaf around.
Farstar Enoch: hehe
Star Ravenhurst: Angel always looks amazing
Bloom Peters, grid goddess and magical music maker
We are a highly talented bunch on Safari, with lots of film makers present! The fantastic Roff Kisses made this really wonderful film which demonstrates those midi tunes with the sound levels changing as he moved around ...
Bloom Peters: roff and the cool clown... sorry for having to turn scripts off this thing needs all the juice it can to remain in sync hehe... Everyone here?
Thirza Ember: yes i see all I think
Bloom Peters: the more people the better, i love a good test... time to preload it
Lifted Pixel: so what are we looking at? a giant organ?
Bloom Peters: This machine was designed from a desire to have a real working in world musical band. The lack of mid support in opensim. So i created my own engine to import midi files converted to notecards
Tosha Tyran: dancing cats... many dancing cats...and one nutty ant
Mal Burns: meow!
Lavia Lavine: it is a musical masterpiece
Lifted Pixel: neat!!
Bloom Peters: I created a small standalone pc software to convert midi to notecard data, notes from a piano Far left is note 1.  Bass Sounds for Bass Keys 2024: Preloading complete. Ready To Play., and farthest is 88, 88 notes per instrument
Tosha Tyran: wow, or should I better say: meow
The queen of multitasking, Bloom also made a video while performing! she has a cool filming hud that she offers for free, here's a Cornflakes Alien trying it earlier
Bloom Peters: Crescent Melody goal is to support all midi instruments one day, that means making 120 of them. I want to bring midi support to opensim natively but its not currently possible, till now i made my own solution. But it has insane limitations, max of 20 sounds per second,: so to combat the limits each sample has to be made with extreme shortness, sounds need to end as soon as they start in a clever manner. I'll play some songs, and in between if you have questions i can answer them. I use a hud to control tempo to ensure it stays sync so I can't talk cause it takes over my keyboard.
Nara Nook: how do we hear the music
Bloom Peters: For normal users here standing in the circle or nearest to it will give you the best sound, sounds come from the center of the circle, or turn up volume heeps haha, Or if you are advanced... you can open the Debug menu and search for AudioLevelRolloff, set it to 0.1 from stock 1.0. The debug method is the best experience, it makes all sounds loud anywere. Ok i will load first song!
Unadecal Arado: A.B.... someone
Thirza Ember: there is a dance ball if you guys want to dance, if not, you can wander among the instruments...
James atLLOUD: Oh yes, must dance
Bloom Peters: First song is -This is the night-, i have a few new ones, last year was super busy hehe
Farstar Enoch: and New sounds, and Blueman group playing the pipes
Mal Burns: camming in and around works to enhance audio too if i recall
Lavia Lavine: This is so awesome!!
Lifted Pixel: this is AMAZING
Farstar Enoch: Even the large pipe organd at the rear works as well
Jupiter Rowland: That drummer cat reminds me of a maneki neko.
James atLLOUD: debug audiorolloff setting works great
Tosha Tyran: it is really cool
Forest Azure: of whom?
Jupiter Rowland: That East Asian cat that's sitting and constantly waving one paw.
Thirza Ember: yeah ... cats have no respect of the Safari commandments
Tosha Tyran: the cat who hears his own kind of drummer
Lavia Lavine: Cats have no respect of anybody
Nara Nook: cats respect nothing
Jupiter Rowland: Unless you know how to open a can.
Angelic Kisses: lol  very true
Tosha Tyran: oh wow - the fat cat is belly dancing
Lifted Pixel: this is hilarious and amazing
Neo Nook: It is really amazing to see and hear that all work! Especially under Safari conditions!
Unadecal Arado: Bis! Bis
Bloom Peters: The next song is Pretty Young Thing BY MJ or, 'the cats of no respect' hehe
Neo Nook: Reminds me of those pre-rendered Animusic instruments. I always admired those. And now you created those as live instruments. Wow
Lifted Pixel: it makes me think of the little auto band inside merry go rounds but this one is adorable
Angelic Kisses: Play it Bloom!
Bloom Peters: And now the Feature one of a kind song, designed by Engers, my friend. He composed a song for Crescent Melody Called CM32, it pushes the limits of the machine and sounds best
Lifted Pixel: i'm excited
Bloom Peters: starting
Lifted Pixel: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA  GOOSEBUMPS
Farstar Enoch: clap clap
Neo Nook: Applause!
Forest Azure: /me gets some sugar out of her pocket, first making sure nobody is watching
Tosha Tyran: fantastic
Bloom Peters: Next song up: 'I can't let go!'
Star Ravenhurst:I see you Forest :)
Forest Azure: /me chews innocently
Tosha Tyran: watching forest closely
Forest Azure: /me tries out all dance partners, hoping they bring some sugar
Farstar Enoch: you can walk around the instruments and fly around etc  if wanting to check things out etc
Lifted Pixel: with the sign i assume you can play it live too?
Bloom Peters: i can indeed... holding a note down
Lifted Pixel: way cool
Bloom Peters: a real keyboard can control it
Neo Nook: So are you controlling this via Midi?
Bloom Peters: no, its all in world on a hud
Lifted Pixel: but you've got something to turn a midi into a notecard and feed it to the crescent melody
James atLLOUD: But Bloom is working so intently on the console!
Farstar Enoch: and Bloom plays live using her Keyboard, controls speed and rhythm, like a conductor i guess, hehe
Bloom at the keyboard, Neo and Nara dancing, with ant-y Forest in the background
Lifted Pixel: i love the keyboard prop. is it just for looks or does it control things?
Neo Nook: I thought that might be a way to hook up a Midi keyboard via some region module
Bloom Peters: ya the huds goal is to try to keep it all in sync. Some people report sometimes it go out of sync
James atLLOUD: Maybe less out of sync, but the sequence 'bunches up' at times and then it catches up with itself.
Lifted Pixel: yeah i had one or two bunch up situations, but expected with this kind of stuff
Bloom Peters: each hud is its own instrument, so they all need to communicate with another to stay sync as best, but with this many people not bad ...in reality it be Me? and my 3 pals most the time.
Lifted Pixel: yeah it played extremely well considering we're all here
Thirza Ember: where else could you experience this kind of live music? lol
Bloom Peters: Bloom Peters: Next song Payphone! by maroon ...before i continue, I am going to put new instruments on a rezzer to prevent 120 of them floating around
James atLLOUD: The harp sample is lovely
Bloom Peters: Next song Home Resonance. This one;s a bit hard on the machine due to the synth
There is so much to see here, and for those who arrived with a little lag in their pockets, it took a few minutes for the instruments to begin to visibly play. but when they do - delight! everything in movement, including this wonderful butterfly keyboard that lights up its notes in time with the music.
Bloom Peters: Next song Give life back to cats (Music) by daft punk
Lavia Lavine: But they already have 9 lives.
Farstar Enoch: Viva the Cats
Star Ravenhurst: Lavia they need them, and more, I wish I had nine lives
Forest Azure: really? might turn out to be a bummer
Star Ravenhurst:Nah, just immortality
Jupiter Rowland: Cats can have even more than nine lives. Namely when both the cat in question and the Grim Reaper have no record on how many lives the cat has already gone through.
Tosha Tyran: bravo, bravisimoooooooooooooo
Bloom Peters: Crescent Melody will one day become a freebie to everyone. I give out all my creations to everyone free of charge. So i include a donation sign next to the cat. 100% optional and not required. But it helps pay for hardware for the grid. BloomPeters will never sell her creations
Lifted Pixel: how long have you been working on this?
Bloom Peters: I been working on this machine for 10 years
Lifted Pixel: amazing
Bloom Peters: however i am a none working citizen, So i have to self buy the parts but it's not too much. I want to keep making creations for people thats my passion
Thirza Ember: it's one of the wonders of opensim
Lucy Afarensis: Really Amazing
Angelic Kisses: your work is brilliant, Bloom!
Lavia Lavine: Amazing talent, amazing skills and a heart of gold to boot, can't beat that Bloom and it's all you!
James atLLOUD: I don't remember how the bass was shown before but the blue man tube is wonderful.
Jupiter Rowland: I think you can actually sit on that tube, James.
Farstar Enoch: yes u can, sit on the tube
Tosha Tyran: but careful james, if not you might get suck in
Farstar Enoch: yes hours and hours of work and on instruments and song
Bloom Peters: Next song Cold Heart
James atLLOUD: Bloom, is there anything the os or viewer devs could do to improve performance?
Bloom Peters: Actually yes. We easier settings to set Frametime and TimerInterval. I believe even a potato pc can handle faster timers with ease. The defaults only allows 2 ticks per second which is this as a example - it would be this slow without custom timers, too slow.I set my timers to 0.01  and Frametime to 0.01 gives me the fastest reaction time, even with us all it wont crash.
James atLLOUD: OK - let's pass it along.  SL just made new LSL commands so it's got to be possible!
Bloom Peters: but per sim basis as needed, having to many sims fast will degrade performance
James atLLOUD: yes of course.
Bloom Peters: I have some new surprises in the future for this machine, We are coming up to the end of our hour,  one more song for the road and then i can answer a few more questions. Be on the look out for future musical experiences,  more sims!
James atLLOUD: New features - wow
Lifted Pixel: so good. thank you for sharing this with us! lovely safari today
Forest Azure: applause for Bloom!
Lucy Afarensis: It has been fun
Thirza Ember: congrats to the whole winxtropia family
Unadecal Arado: very.... unconventional
Star Ravenhurst: Beautiful!
Bloom Peters: Ty all for coming, and be sure more is coming, i will push this as far as i can... its a passion.
James atLLOUD: Thank you Bloom and any Crescent music helpers.
Lavia Lavine: Yes it was a great Safari
Thirza Ember: HAPPY CORNFLAKES WEEK
Star Ravenhurst: Thanks for a wonderful time!

  1. this is my second visit here with Safari and it was a blast. I really like the new bass instrument - so much so that I joined others in sitting on it! Thanks Bloom and as always, thank you Thirza.
