Our second destination was a preview of the HIE build. The Hypergrid International Expo is coming this weekend, with 3 musical guests on the Friday (starting at 11am SLT and then two days of talks and artistic performances, starting at 9am SLT on Saturday and Sunday.
You can find the whole schedule here - HIEOPENSIM - and also read about the artists and the speakers. The event gives an opportunity for people whose first language is not English to be able to give a talk to a wide public. As they speak, the main points of their talks will appear in 'Subtitle' form. Join the Language group right for you and just read the subtitles in the Chat.
The treat for us this visit was to also be in the presence of singer-songwriter Whirli Placebo
HIE Welcome. Join the Group best for your language, and then walk through the portal to the Auditorium |

In terms of virtual performances, Whirli has been out of circulation for a while, but, as he worked through a bit of a health scare. he turned the experience into a series of new songs, and so he treated us to a mix of Joan Baez and his own material.
As you can see, Lifted Pixel was really into it! |
If you know Whirli's style, he is a poet who manages to bring humor and deep thought into just about any subject, even the idea of our shared mortality!
Here is a link to his performance, you can listen for yourself and enjoy.
The place where we were dancing is the park that surrounds the Auditorium. It's a big space, and there are about 70 market-stall style booths that you can visit. They have been made by people all over the hyperverse, and it's fun to walk among them all to learn about all the interesting projects and places that are in OpenSim.
For example, in the next gif you can see Whirli's booth, complete with record player on the roof. Vitis it to see the link to Whirli's Youtube channel (don't forget to Subscribe!) and also some pictures of Whirli around and about on Safari trips - he has playes for the Safari tourists on loads of occasions, including our first anniversary party back in 2015, at places like the Belfast Maritime, JIIE grid, Event Plaza, Pangea Grid, Avacon, and more and he has lent his music to videos by the likes of Cherry Manga and Fuschia Nightfire. Our madcap conversation that reeled from "what does cringe mean" to "What do Martians look like" and the meaning of green, what rhymes with noises, what getting older does to your vocal chords, and much more....
Thanks to all who made it to the end of this Safari. Hope to see you at the HIE event - beginning on Friday at 11am!

It was so good to hear Whirli again. I hope he enjoyed being back at it! Thanks Thirza.
