It's almost Halloween, and in Opensim that means ghouls and ghosties - big time angst! or in this case... ankh-st.
For creators, All Hallow's Eve is The Festival par excellence, because it offers the possibility of all kinds of visual cues, jump scares, and jokes, not to mention tricks and treats for friends and strangers, leading to a positive building boom all over the hyperverse.
Unlike Xmas, the other big bash in terms of reupholstered seasonal sims, Halloween offers a practically infinite palette of possibilities, from the standard witch-and-werewolf look, through all kinds of fantasy, steampunk, scifi, and superdark variants, everything on the table, from the toddler-proof to the bloodcurdling. With pumpkins.
There will be a Safari tour of this build on October 25, but the build will be open in a few days from now, so put it on your list of H-related destinations.
Each year Nani Ferguson and Ange Menges build a series of ephemeral builds (ephemeral is a fancy word meaning they are temporary builds tied to a specific time of the year) that offer a chance to celebrate the season with a Hunt and prizes...
the biggest prize of all is the experience of Ange and Nani's imaginative region.
Each one tells a story, invites exploration, and provides food for thought. The builds are typically open for about two or three weeks, around the date that is being celebrated - in this case because it's marking October 31, Halloween, the build will open on October 23 and close on November 5... those are the provisional dates, but as you can see this is not an opportunity to miss because blink, and the build is gone. If you are curious about previous builds, you can subscribe to Ange's Youtube channel Flame Team - Ange often posts walkthroughs or trailers for the events, and it's a nice archive of previous creations.
This time, it's a Battle Royale between intergalactic forces, all caused by one toxic plant. You have creatures coming in through portals from all sides, each with a uniquely scary alien look.
Your job - use the HUD, follow the clues, identify the prize-giving items, stand close enough to be able to interact with each one, and get your goodies. But if you're visiting not just for the freebies, you will find so much more here. The architecture here varies from Ottoman to Pirate, giving the whole sim a lovely jungly exotic feel, varied but harmonious. Pure bliss on a foggy autumn evening. Enjoy!
