Cool Poule

Over the past weeks,  the group Les Theatreux has been working hard on a play called 'Et l'oeuf engendre la poule' which is a reference to the old expression 'which came first, the chicken or the egg', and Thursday night was the final performance. The whole thing took place in the purpose-built theater on sim EventSpace, on Minord Loup's grid, SV3D. The full HG Address is at the end of the post, of course.
Using as the soundtrack a radio broadcast of the  play from a few years back, the team took the story and interpreted it into 3D sets with appropriate lighting, poses, props, scenery and so on - all the bells and whistles of a theatrical representation. Kudos to the man behind the control panel, Tristan Dehaie
Tristan Dehaie, the man at the controls.
It's a play by Jean Vilain - no, not the guy from the Expendables! - here's a potted autobiography by the author who has clearly had a long and entertaining career in theater in France.
It is so cool that virtual worlds and the internet in general make it possible for people who have had long careers, but nowadays have little taste for the stress and strain of  conventional theater, can still be busy and creative from the comfort of their own home, to the comfort or ours!
The main characters in the play are Jacques Rigaud, his wife Elsa, and Jacques' mother Marthe, played by friend of the Safari, Nadir Rae - you'll remember we went to visit her build Spirit of Life on Ignis Fatuus about a year ago. Here's Elsa and Marthe in an early and dramatic scene in the play...

... and here are Elsa and Jacques in the following scene... some gripping stuff!
Jacque grieves while Elsa gets on with life
Add to this broody triangle none other than St Peter - or someone very much like him - an ambiguous and pantheistic figure who invites the deceased to reevaluate their life, and its meaning. Heaven has some pretty decorative dancers, it turns out...
The play is a story of generations, of reincarnation - the circle of life, if you like - but with a few spokes in that wheel. Sad and reflective, funny and sweet, the message of the play is - the best we can do in life is to be intelligently human. Follow your passions, take chances, be curious, and don't waste life.
Looking down on the body of the theater and the stage from the sound desk - looks complicated!
The ten or so in the audience thoroughly enjoyed this performance, which (from my point of view at least) was silky smooth and totally lag free, a real triumph of performance in every sense of the word. I only found out about the event by pure chance, and really enjoyed the experience - hopefully future shows will get better publicity, these guys definitely deserve a bigger audience, and lots of people would enjoy a production like this, rather than the usual round of DJs and dance parties. It make a nice change!
So, are you intrigued, and sorry you missed it? luckily Prodyck Theas filmed this final performance,  and put it on his Youtube channel the aptly named Opensim Forever (don't forget to Like and Subscribe)
