Safari turns Ten

This week marked ten years since the first ever Safari trip and we celebrated at the Safari region on Avacon grid, with a special installation in the sky showing a few of the places we have visited, and revisited, over the years.
It was lovely to welcome to the party sim both people who have been with the event from its earliest days, like Nara and Neo and Alan and lifted pixel, as well as relative newcomers like Lynnestra and Alexey, plus many who are both regular Safari trippers and also hosts. As the tee shirt says, the 'liberty, variety, and instability' of virtual worlds continue to be challenging motors for change and expression and endless surprise across the hyperverse.  And so many, many great places still to see.
A couple of dozen stalwarts gathered on Avacon Grid to recall all the places we have been and people we've known, and Whirli Placebo was on hand to share some songs that were almost hilariously incongruous for a celebration of our virtual milestone. There was also a foray into ChatGPT-generated doggerel which is not included here, apologies to those who  enjoy that stuff, but it's most assuredly not my taste.
Looking back over the decade from that first trip, we have certainly seen a lot of changes in the platform, but it's still capable of instability - indeed our first destination on Neverworld wasn't possible, possibly due to changes in the latest version of the opensimulator code,,. of course, a few hours later, and all was well again on Neverworld, and there's a post about the destination 'Last of Boston' on this blog, do check it out!
Thanks to Avacon grid for giving us tip top performance for the 20 or 30 people who dropped in to the party, and thanks to all for the nice comments. Looking forward to the rest of the season, including a spectacular encore performance by Cherry Manga of her Hypergrid International Expo show, that will be next week - join us if you can!
