Nico Kaliani: I'm prepared.
I had a lobotomy to reduce my complexity
Nebula, on OSGrid, is a classic art venue that is well-loved all over opensim. All the Caro Fayray regions on the grid are showcases of variety, explosive and expansive beauty, and a great sense of humor, along with a keen delight in the natural world. We met on the beach at Nebula, where towels were laid out around the camp fire, and palm trees doubled as pole dance positions. HG address as always at the end of the post.
Caro Fayray: I'm so nervous:)
Jim Bean: Hi Caro :) mmm, laaaag and someone stole all my clothes while I was tping :) heeello happy bunch
James.Atlloud: I'm feeling so nice and toasty near the fire.
Caro Fayray: is that everyone? Hello everyone and welcome to Nebula. I have no idea how the region will perform and am not a techie so maybe take the notecard from the board. Then you can always return if you want in case we all poof. Maybe take the notecard from the board. Then you can always return if you want in case we all poof. I spend a lot of time here :)
Thirza Ember: yay thanks for hosting us! how long you been in osgrid, Caro?
Caro Fayray: I came here in 2009, but didn't have land here, I spent a year or two on a standalone with my then partner. No HG or shopping, so had to learn to make everything we needed. After my start in sl, I started my journey into virtual worlds in 2007 in SL. My time there was spent at the Ivory Tower and the Particle Lab. I'm not a very social person:) So my love of prim torture was born and i became an addicted builder and even more of a hermit. I'm a very old fashioned builder. No mesh. Love torturing prims.
Alex Salamander: :-)
Star Ravenhurst: I agree 100% with prim twisting!
Forest Azure: /me is pondering on how to torture prims
Star Ravenhurst: Forest if you want to learn, we have a beginning class on our grid
Caro Fayray: i have some pre-tortured on Echo sandbox:)
Nico Kaliani: I still remember the tool that would rezz a tortured prim of your choice for you
Caro Fayray |
Caro Fayray: I was in heaven after the frustration of learning to build in SL and the limitations of a small plot on the mainland. I discovered my love of terraforming, painting with the land, so during the next 2 or 3 years i went mad and built around 10 regions. Extreme environments. The Nebulas and the Echoes. All places i build are echoes of memories mixed with fantasy. And very interactive. Not for hoverers and cammers
Forest Azure: I'd rather torture ehm pixels
Jim Bean: you need a whip for prims, Forest
Lucy Afarensis: I love the way they squeal when you torture them
Caro Fayray: but hope ppl will continue to learn:) All my places here are all single regions but Echoes are connected . They are very diverse in landscape and textures so VARs wouldn't work
Thirza Ember: you also are well involved with OSGrid - helping organize things like the Auction, isn't that right?
Caro Fayray: yes, I don't build regions any more, I'm busy doing art stuff and helping with the decoration of plazas for events
Forest Azure: auction?
Caro Fayray: in september, I run an auction during the osgrid fundraiser, then we hold auctions, people make stuff and give to me -3 this year - they are unique pieces.
Jim Bean: yep, the yearly auction, to raise funds
Forest Azure: i guess by that time i will know what it is
Nico Kaliani: I tried selling my soul at the auction, but no one wanted anything so battered and bruised
Forest Azure: and tortured?
Caro Fayray: you'd be suprised what ppl want:)
Thirza Ember: lol I'm afraid to ask
Caro Fayray: haha, not telling
Caro Fayray: This was the first region I built on my arrival in OSGrid in 2012 but has changed and evolved over the years. I guess I was still influenced by SL as i kind of crammed a bit of everything into it. The Cloud rides were first conceived in SL but with some script tweaking by my partner made the move ok. The Yellow Cloud here is a good way for an overview of the region. The Bubblefish is good for an underwater tour. The other Clouds ride though the sky. Other spots to visit are The Housetree, a kind of snakes and ladders. The Castle, Underwater and the Caves. Click or sit on stuff to interact. There is a lot to be discovered by walking but I understand time is short so use the direct LMs maybe
Thirza Ember: tell us about your obsession/fascination with the sky Caro,so many of your creations seem to be sky-themed
Caro Fayray: I already had the clouds and the ride form SL, so it was one of the first things to be put here - was more about making something u could ride on in unusual places, the bubblefish underwater is the same...just not a cloud:)
Ard Rhys admires the art |
Caro Fayray: wow just looked, so many ppl, are u able to move ok?
whirli placebo: caro, a few complications for me...but it's an enjoyable learning experience :)
Ange Menges: Mal is stuck under the ground lol
Thirza Ember: lots of us, see? we do not always break sims
James Atlloud: as long as we stay put
Thirza Ember: how many sims here? three?
Caro and James poledancing |
Nico Kaliani: Did an area search and found 14 Clouds within 3500m, I look forward to checking them out sometime
Forest Azure: so we do a bit of exploring on our own? someone try to tp to bubblefish?
Thirza Ember: idk if we can separate James from that pole, though
Caro Fayray: I'm thinking about employing him, he's good
James Atlloud: You mentioned the sky - is this sky an EEP environment?
Caro Fayray: no, its just shared environment, but if you ride the clouds set it to midnight
James Atlloud: OK - I'm still very new to learning EEP so I appreciate knowing.
Caro Fayray: shouldn't say that... does walking or flying make more stress on server?
Thirza Ember: walking seems a bit risky lol but i'm going to head for the big bubble over the bridge, once you get going, it is not too bad... in this landing area you can see Caro has been involved in loads of community projects
Angelic Kisses in the bubbledome welcome area |
While most of the group stayed by the campfire, others ventured out into the night, I caught a ride with Forest...
Forest Azure: hi dark passenger :)
Thirza Ember: hahahaha ... sorry, I'm not sure that was meant to happen
Forest Azure: well, i had a passenger under water too, so i guess yes
Thirza Ember: well, pproves the scripts work ok here
Forest Azure: ooh fireworks! or 2001
These contiguous regions are fun to fly, ride or walk about in, and the atmospherics give constantly fluctuating nuances to the colors and moods of the architectural elements. When she returned to the camp fire, Forest complimented Caro on the great use of sounds.
Caro Fayray: I love using sound in my places, people should use more i think
Lavia Lavine: that can make or break a build Caro, it makes it more immersive.
Star Ravenhurst: I love using sound too
Caro Fayray: yes I agree. It adds so much to the experience. I make my sounds
James Atlloud: sound is so often neglected so it's a real treat when it's present
Star Ravenhurst: Too bad we can't bring in taste and scent but it will probably happen one day
Forest Azure: is that you panting?
Caro Fayray: no lol but i could
Lavia Lavine: I think it's James panting ::nodnodnodnod::
James Atlloud: lol - I still have sound volume up after visiting Cutelala
Lavia Lavine: That was a lot of fun James.
Mal Burns: do we need medics to uncouple James from tree?
Caro Fayray: he can take it with him if he wants lol
Mal Burns: so long as he removes before next show lol
James Atlloud: I'm sticking here for safety.
Thirza Ember: the rides are such fun, taking you up into the sky and into the sea who is your scripting guru? Jeff?
Caro Fayray: no, it was my old partner form SL for those, but yes jeff does it all now:) he makes my strange stuff work. I can't write scripts, but I can adjust etc
whirli placebo: awwwww...lovely
thirza ember: the colors here are so vibrant, it all comes to life
Lavia Lavine: I always have enjoyed visiting here.
Caro Fayray: All places i build are echoes of memories mixed with fantasy.
whirli placebo: caro, how long did it take from the inception of your original idea to the state that matched your vision?
Caro Fayray: well, I was manic at that time, so over excited, so did it fast, but am still tweaking 12 years later
Lavia Lavine: Building is so therapeutic
whirli placebo: wonderful....love these kinds of projects/visions that quickly come to live, and then you expand on them as the 12! years go by :)
Caro Fayray: yes whirli, nothing is ever finished for me,
Lavia Lavine: I hear ya.
Caro Fayray: ECHO ROCK still needs more stuff, but is a bit specialised so takes time
thirza ember: so what is your upcoming project Caro?
Caro Fayray: ive just finished an exhibit for VWBPE at InterstellART, not sure when it opens
Mal Burns: 20th i think (to public) - SLBPE that is
Caro Fayray: well we are under the title of Experiences or interactive exhibits and will be after the main event i think
Ard Rhys: Thanks for letting us visit Caro
Caro Fayray: I can't usually make your Safaris... I rearranged RL for this:) Thank you all for coming to visit. I really enjoyed it after all my apprehension before. Please feel free to explore any of my places any time.
Mal Burns: tks - bye Caro
Lucy Afarensis: Thanks Caro I will to come back to look around
Star Ravenhurst: It was a fantastic visit. I could stay here all day, I'll be back for sure.
Roffellos.Kisses: Thank you Caro its lovely here
whirli placebo: thx Caro :)
Caro Fayray: ty ty ty all of you
Jim Bean: :) thank you Caro :)
Forest Azure: ty Caro! if I have nightmares I'll come spook you :)
HG Address: hg.osgrid.org:80:Nebula
I feel like I remember the dome where we met from a time long ago - maybe at VWBPE? There was so much here I didn't have a chance to see that I will definitely be coming back to check again. Thank you Caro and Thirza.
