Safari at the Crescent

Yay back on Safari!  Oh, and there are ten weeks of Safari this season, so join us soon if you can! Wednesdays at 12 at the Clubhouse. Our second stop this week was on Winxtropia (addresses at the end of the post, as always).
Here's what we learned from the lovely Bloom Peters of Winxtropia grid who had lost of news about things she's been building recently. There's quite a bit of info on the same subject in this blog post 'Giddy About MIDI', but yesterday's visit geve everyone the opportunity to meet with her in person. We met on Crescent Melody region, under this dome, where the animated orchestra resides.
Bloom Peters: Welcome all. Please,  enable your mic for this experience
Petlove Petshop: Hi Bloom!
Farstar Enoch: hi all
Boujee GamerGirl: hello!
Dorena Bree: i like the sky, its really pretty
Ayla.Alvarez: I'm afraid to ask what the buffer rate is
Bloom Peters: so far 190... not bad. Smart buffer is critical for timing
Bloom Peters: you are free to chat before the show case of course. Today will showcase a brand new viewer created.. as soon as thirza says she is ready. If your mic wont activate do a relog
Farstar Enoch: You need mic enabled to hear the music
Petlove Petshop: ahh ok!
Jade Serenity: i have no mic but i have voice enabled
Bloom Peters: yes that's perfect, as long as u get the dot hehe, you only need to enable Voice checkbox
Neo Cortex: Unfortunately I don't have that voice client on Linux
Nara Nook: I don't have voice either
Thirza Ember: i have voice but it doesn't kick in immediately in a big group but i am sure it will soon!
Bloom Peters: For those who cant get voice not a problem links will be provided for youtube demonstration
Dorena.Bree: great
Farstar Enoch: Bloom has it all covered
Bloom Peters: this everyone?
Thirza Ember: looking... yes i think so...

Bloom, and the Cat's Meow

Bloom Peters has made a major breakthrough with her ongoing project to make it possible to use MIDI  (the Musical Instrument Digital Interface that lets you connect electronic instruments to computers) to musically animate objects inworld. If you have ever read this blog or been on Safari, you'll have been blown away by Bloom's region Crescent Melody, with its fabulously crazy orchestra - here's us all enjoying a concert for Cornflakes Week 2024.
Looking at this gif, are you thinking what I'm thinking? How cool would it be to have the possibility of making your own musically inspired animated scenes - even a whole region - of objects all playing along to a tune. Well, that opportunity is just around the corner...
Before we get into the nitty gritty, I had to ask about the cats.
Thirza Ember: you'll keep the same look, the same animal orchestra?
Bloom Peters: nope it's getting a much more professional design so that on release date people can use it right away to create music or use it to control regions and things. There is a major breakthrough with the machine. I created a program in python. It's called "Midi to Opensim"

Weekend at Winx 2

Bloom Peters: I created a special viewer for serious creators, its a custom Firestorm that allows you to upload insanity mesh haha
Thirza Ember: is there a link to it? or maybe there will be in the future?
Bloom Peters: not yet but i can show u the city, it demonstrates that.
"swishing tp sound... to a region called Whiterun"
Whiterun
Bloom Peters: We can and should have better limits in place. What your about to see was uploaded all in one go in less than 4 mins on my viewer - full textures. With the custom viewer you have no limits to what you can upload. Super super complex mesh, like this town, and it doesnt lag us. I believe Opensim should not have the same limits as Second Life.
Thirza Ember: I have almost 80 frame rate and the build rezzed in about 2 seconds - all of it. Admittedly, there are only the two of us here, but still...

Crescent Roll

Winxtropia Grid has so much going for it, it's almost a crime for us to do a double dip this season by returning there, and going to the same region - but who could resist, when it's for the purpose of enjoying more Sound music by Cutuelala Artis. HG Address, as always, at the end of the post.

Our second destination to celebrate Cornflakes Week 2023, was therefore back at the great Organ of Sound, in company with Boujee Gamergirl, Farstar Enoch and the aforementioned Cute, under a dome designed by YumYum Komani.

Cuteulala Artis: hi all! I will need to preload the sounds before i play full songs... for the best sound try to be near the circle or turn your volume quite up. This is a live in world musical experience no media is needed
Star Ravenhurst: We have been here before. This is awesome!
