Bink's Ballet

 The bees and the flowers, what's not to love. They are pretty to look at and essential for life on this planet as we know it. Why not bring that spirit into Opensim, where cross pollination between builders, artists, tech people and of course the public create a veritable ecosystem of fun and fecundity. 

Bink met me on sim Koeln on Pangea to talk about her upcoming show. It's going to be on 12 October, at 11 am SLT so save the date, this is going to be a great opportunity to see something extravagant and also catch up with so many friends, and friends of the grid.  The HG Address is at the end of the post, but if you're a regular reader, you know that already.

Bink Draconia: I always wanted to create a men's ballet..Men's ballet is different... it's a funny kind of dancing. i don't know why, but just karsten Runningbear wanted to dance in a tutu for me... so i needed to create npcs for it.... (ok, that's a joke, i wanted npcs from the beginning^^)

Thirza Ember: hahaha well that is a funny idea, but Karsten is class so anything he is an inspiration for, will be very good. So your show will be part of the Pangea Birthday celebrations on October 12?

Bink Draconia: yes.... first Lampithalers rainbow parade will start at 19.00 CET, then the ballet and after that an art show by Lampi.

Thirza Ember: oh that's great, a nice mix of entertainment... tell me, what is the biggest challenge with the NPCs?

Bink Draconia: hm.... i think creating the NPCs is the hardest part.  Choosing the outfits... removing ALL scripts before saving, especially when using mesh-bodies. Karsten scripted the dance pads i worked with.

Thirza Ember: So it was a challenge, to find outfits of the right style?

Bink Draconia: yes. this time some will wear female shoes ... it was difficult to find heels for men ^^ ...they need special feet for it. but luckily i found some shoes for the flowers

Here above is the stage where you'll be able to both enjoy the ballet and why not a couple of beers too. After all, it is Oktober, and here below you can see a tiny (don't want to give all the action away!) peek at the dancing dudes, dressed as bees and flowers. Love the hive!

Some of the details about the Rainbow Parade are still under wraps also, but just looking at a few of the vehicles on the street, it looks like it's going to be a lot of colorful fun. Pangea has so many great builders associated with it - the lovely Tutz Zabelin, partner to Marlon Wayne, of course, and Lampithaler Artist, but you'll find regions by Nyx Breen, Terra Merhyem, Rage Darkstone, Tina Bey just to mention a few, making Pangea a bit of a virtual art treasury. The grid is now four years old, which is no mean feat in Opensim years, and Bink has been on Pangea for a relatively short time, so I wondered how she liked it.

Bink Draconia: I haven't been to many grids before... i started in metropolis back then. it was very big and kind of anonymous. in pangea we're like a small family that supports each other.  i've learned a lot from them. really good friends. Marlon is the nicest and most helpful person i know in open sim. always in a good mood. He always gives assistance with tec. hnical issues, also Kitty Sarrasine, our server admin. Finja and Jason flux help me with texturing or creating a mesh. jason is very good in blender - me not^^

Thirza Ember: Karsten too, always so clever with scripts and patient

Bink Draconia: Karsten and I are friends since 2010 in second life. He helps a lot with scripts.... he created the dance pads- just for club dancing, but i use them for npc- shows. i will talk about the pads and show another kind of men's ballet at the hie next year.  We have inspired each other....the scripter and the user

Thirza Ember: I think this will be a very popular event, everyone admires Pangea grid and there is always a very high quality to the art and entertainment. SO what's the timetable of the event?  people like to arrive early so they don't have too much lag

Bink Draconia: oh, the time.... lampi will start the parade on 19.00 CET... 10.00 am SLT. The: ballet will start half an hour later, the show will take about 15 minutes
