Atlas Fashion coming soon!

Another exciting event produced by the team on  Atlas grid, Harthelie, Chip and Jeff, is being planned - a fashion show!
Chip Atlas, Harthelie Atlas, and Jeff Kelly
If you attended the previous edition of their Fashion Show, you'll remember the spectacular evening in 2023 which drew a huge audience - a challenge in itself for any sim, but one that they rose to magnificently. This is the second parade in its initial form, with a similar (set but new outfits, obviously, hey, fashion is always changing!)  The Atlas friends are already planning ahead, and say that the 2025 extravaganza will take place in an entirely new setting.
So, what inspired the group to do an event like this?
Jeff Kelly: We had the opportunity to attend fashion shows in opensim and realized the difficulty of organizing such an event with human avatars who must agree on their availability. Since we like a challenge, we asked ourselves the question: Why not use NPCs? This is how we were able to parade 135 models, something that would have been impossible to achieve with humans. The parade is fully automated, which allows us to do as many rehearsals as necessary.
Harthelie:  For clothes, we approached stores who kindly lent us their support. Our spectators are invited to visit these stores to obtain the models we present. This year, the fashion show will feature 92 models, divided between men's and women's fashion, ranging from beach outfits to evening wear and city models. The show lasts about an hour, accompanied by music, and our goal is for our audience to have a great evening.
Chip: Technically, we are pushing opensim to its limits. We are pushing it to the point that we have discovered a weakness that will be the subject of an anomaly report. NPCs themselves are extremely lightweight. We can put several hundred on a simulator without any sign of lag. This is the case with historical avatars dressed in textures. Mesh avatars are a game changer. Everything is now an attachment, and this has a significant cost to the sim in terms of adding and - surprisingly, also when removing - assets.
The production took 3 months for the team of three each one working in their own area of expertise. Harthelie contacted the suppliers, chose the outfits, and dressed the NPCs   Chip worked on the sets, including the formal garden with its unique catwalk-path and the mansion; and Jeff developed the scripts to produce the effects of a seamless procession of Opensim a-la-mode.
Here's what the NPCs look like, before the fancy outfits are applied to each one. The NPCs will stop in front of each park bench so you can admire their clothes up close, and this lovely garden is a perfect place to learn, laugh, and make new friends. Looking forward to it!

When is this event? Probably some time in July, although the exact date has not yet been set.
