Poppy Fields has only been in OSGrid for about four months. We met on her region, Mistburry, where there's a charming, toast colored deck, with a sparkling pool and Zee Lounge, a sleek nightclub.
The rest of the region is dedicated to long, palm-fringed beaches, and modern buildings, including her interesting project, the Opensim Shopping Expo, or OS Expo, a hub for shops all over the hyperverse.
The Expo, with its posters, samples, and Landmarks, is designed to take some of the sting out of shopping for assets in opensim, which has to be the biggest bugbear for most people.

Poppy Fields: But I was here many many years ago. have been in SL from the start. 19 years . Before hypergrid I travelled many grids. called myself a gridnaut lol. I am creative in many aspects and it seemed a natural choice to be in a place that has less restrictions on creativeness. I knew about other grids but not much about how it all functioned. seemed stable here maybe not technically stable. more... socially stable, more community... with so many of the small grids, it's kind of 'little empires'
Thirza Ember: so you're on a big grid, they call it the crossroads of opensim, and you decided to set up your shopping expo - why? tell me your thinking
Poppy Fields: uhm, oh dear. well, I found it was difficult to find things. you see things around you and try to discover why they are from. I though how does anyone know what's the latest new and exciting items? Also, there are some very clever creators around. almost everyone seems to have a store. but does anyone know about it? And also, regardless of which side of the fence you stand regarding copybot items, they are here, no point in putting our heads in the sand. we all need it. so the more it freely shared, the better the user experience for everyone, which in turn encourages members and boosts the community
Poppy Field |
Thirza Ember: lol that's a controversial view, but certainly a legitimate opinion.
Poppy Fields: you hear people argue against it - while standing there in their copybot bodies, hair and clothes
Inside the OS Expo |
Thirza Ember: so how do people get a spot in your Expo?
Poppy Fields: group membership with the exhibitor role is all that is required to operate a booth
Thirza Ember: Would you welcome having more original opensim creators in your Expo?
Poppy Fields: oh yes certainly. original creations are number 1, and a very important part of everyone's future here. Without new creations we stagnate into oblivion. i make mesh and I script. I am not great at either.
Poppy Fields: I can show you something that kind of shows you what I mean about shared content... it's a make believe conversation: you can have a fantastic sim, but then stay at home if you don't want to see bad stuff.
