HallowBreen

Nyx Breen invited us to come for a pre-party party on his new build on Immersive 4 one of a group of VAR regions on Pangea Grid. Owned by Marlon Wayne and his partner Tutz Zabelin, Pangea is home to some of Opensim's premiere artists including Lampithaler Artist, Tina Bey, Cherry Manga,  recent arrival Mike Fleetwood plus many more.
This new build called Morpheus Oneiroi is another surreal trip through shape color and movement with a bit of a Halloween twist to it. As usual, Nyx urges everyone to have graphics set way high but obviously, you need to do what's right for your own screen and eyeballs, as the full effect of this art can be too much for very tired eyes, or the photosensitive.
Arriving on Pangea. Even without the shared environment, it's still a unique place.
Nyx Breen: hello all welcome,  is every one in shared setting?
Lysondra June: Looks great, Nyx !!
Thirza Ember: fast rez too
Spax Orion: IS THIS what Dismayland would look like with PBR?
Nyx Breen: no PBR is used here, just EEP and effects
Spax Orion: /me picks jaw up off of floor
Nyx Breen: Hello and welcome Thirza, James and the Hyper Grid Safari explorers to Zahlensymbolik on the Immersive 4 sim here at Pangea. The Art Grid coming to you from Germany. Lots of art and exploration is available here in Pangea. Let me tell you about how this type of virtual experience came to be. I have told this story before and it is worth repeating.
Cherry Manga: (I love the lazy idea of pre recorded speech :D)
Nyx Breen: ;p; got me
If you tone down your graphics and visit anyway, you will still get a flavor of arguably the most original artist we have working in Opensim. You'll see the world like on the grey side, and when you finally turn up the graphics and go to Shared Environment, it'll look like this!
Nyx Breen: Since my first foray into Second Life in 2005, I have been captivated by the world of Virtual Arts. My journey has been a testament to my unwavering passion as I've delved into all the opportunities available to artists. I've embraced every aspect of this evolving art, from mastering the art of prim building, texturing, and scripting to exploring advanced settings in the builder's box, sculptures, mesh, and animation.Creators and artists have taken advantage of the changes and capitalized on creating something new, sometimes being the first to do it.
Tosha Tyran: UA... that thing above our heads reminds me of the spider that jumped out ouf my laundy at me this morning
Nyx Breen: Virtual worlds and their respective technologies are expanding the capabilities of creators and artists to apply unique applications to their environments.  With the development of more creative experiences and possibilities provided by updated viewers, my style of virtual art has changed. I have been focusing on Immersive experiences for the last few years or so. Just imagine being able to look at a painting and then physically enter it.
Cherry Manga: yessss Nyx, the tools give inspiration 100%
Nyx Breen: I agree.  With virtual art, you are looking at a flat screen that provides a 2D view of an art piece created in a virtual world setting, giving the viewer a 3D effect. A little trippy in concept, but we are living in the future now. I have focused on creating "Mesh Effect Art" pieces and "EEP Immersive Art." I am the first to admit that saying that sentence usually gets a "WTF?"
Spax Orion: WHAT A TRIP! Queue Dark side of the Moon
Nyx Breen: Mesh Effect Art involves using mesh prims and applying X-Y-Z axis settings, size settings, and different textures setting bumbines, shininess and scripts motion, color or physical changes to the objects. Then, the objects are placed in a virtually large space, a minimum size that of a single sim. Using the X Y Z axis to be my palette
James Atlloud: whoa!
Nyx Breen: EEP Immersive Art involves applying unique textures to environmental settings and manipulating them to produce the desired artistic feel for the space. The larger the space, the more significant the effect can be achieved. The challenge in creating a new style of virtual art is that you have to literally teach individuals how to look at it in a virtual world so that they can see it. Then as an artist I can take it to the side of creation most artist strive for.
Nyx Breen: The emotional side of creating. Leaving individuals with feelings good or bad about the experience. Hopefully individuals have a pleasant enjoyable experience when in an art construct of the creators vision. So, you must ensure that shared environment settings are used and graphic settings utilize shaders and max out the graphic settings.
Cherry Manga: I don't know if you know him Nyx, but you would love his  universe...Mario2 Helstein from SL, you and him have so much in common with the use of huge mesh and lights
Nyx Breen chameleon
Nyx Breen: didn't, good to know ty. For some individuals, thi Then, the visual experience itself from the significant upgrade of their graphics settings. I promise you will never go back. With these art forms, the possibilities for creativity and personalization are boundless. Whether you're a photographer, a machinima creator, or a builder, the virtual world is your canvas.
Spax Orion: me jots down some notes... I learned something interesting today =D
Thirza Ember: It's full of life and movement but there is something cogent, instantly understandable about it. It's visceral art... Nyx's background as a photographer has a lot to do with that
Cherry Manga: yes Thirza
Nyx Breen: A factor or two needs to be considered, especially for individuals who may have issues with flashing lights and repetitive motions. Making the installation on a 4x4 VAR sim size reduces this effect and allows it to be more accessible to all. Those who have yet to visit one of my installations often raise this concern.
Nyx Breen: The size of the installation space mitigates the effect when it is perceived as off in the distance; the physical effects are diminished or even non-existent.
Spax Orion: I have never seen prims that glossy, yet I recognize the system bumps and shine applied... NEAT
Nyx Breen: Moving back from the screen will effectively eliminate this effect. The most mentioned feeling individuals express to me is how they feel emotionally after experiencing virtually one of my installations.  The words calming, relaxing, and comforting are often brought up when describing the experience. Today it's a little different a "Themed build" based on nightmares and dreams for most people.
Nyx Breen: So I invite you all to explore visit this abstract art piece based or dreams by actually moving your avatar through the installation and not just sit and cam!
If you visit alone, be sure to grab that Notecard at the landing point, or you are guaranteed to miss some bits of this giant collection of installations and walk-through art. Also, if you have one of those speed enhancers, it will make your trip even more trippy. We couldn't get ours to work, so moved at a more leisurely pace around just a few parts of the build. Nyx knows his Safarians and their ways.  Since we had the man himself, he knew we would want to just go wherever he went. That's Safari.
Tina Bey
Thirza Ember: shout out to Pangea grid for giving you the chance to make art like this here
Nyx Breen: i love this grid and the people
Nyx Breen: Explore the dreams sad, sweet or far worse. Experience shadows desires and dreads of self discovery. Nymphs or Monsters, Oneiroi offered ways.
Koshari Mahana: It amazes me how changing the EEP makes the entire setting appear to change too.
Nyx Breen: these spyders bite
Lysondra June: Cool bugs :)
Spax Orion: Wonders what seasoning goes best with giant spider?
Thirza Ember: it's everything everywhere all at once
Koshari Mahana: lol yes!
James Atlloud: No overheating, but I'm amazed the graphics card can render all this.  So many bits!!!
The bacon arrows
Cherry Manga: grilled bacon arrows
Sven Ingersoll: green eggs and ham
Cherry Manga: green eggs? what is that
Spax Orion: Extra MSG sauce please!
Thirza Ember: the music fits this perfectly
Sven.Ingersoll: from Dr Suess's book
Speaking of literary allusions, we suddenly met a Raven. Very Halloween. The EEP would suddenly change with a great flash of white, and the ground and all the objects would take on the new sky's color scheme.
Thirza Ember: big bird!
Koshari Mahana: Yes!
Cherry Manga: big eggs then
Thirza Ember: mmm with bacon! now that's immersive!
Spax Orion: /me recovers from flash blindness
Thirza Ember: is this your first Nyx build, Spax?
Spax Orion: first methinks yes... that is why I am taking notes
Tosha examines the Web
Thirza Ember: mmm this is chilly... watch out Tosha! Wow.... when the EEP changes it is so dramatic
Koshari Mahana: wow, the floor looks like oil now
Cherry Manga: wondering if Nyx made it changing random or if the  different areas have specific ones
Spax Orion: lsl can change environment without the need to make a parcel
Thirza Ember: oh these statues are amazing...  and now the tunnel of FREAK OUT
James Atlloud: do we or don't we
Thirza Ember: my eyeballs are in therapy now
Tosha Tyran: yrs, mine too
Koshari Mahana: wow, I love this
Nyx Breen: Lots of people's things here in tribute
Lysondra June: whispers: WoW!!!
Tosha Tyran: I have discovered a huge Catalan man: red and yellow stripes down to sexual organ, hahaha
James Atlloud: Saw that also Tosha
Thirza Ember: yes Tosha and no, you can't take him home
Spax Orion: Love the old ferris wheel... It is missing a roller coaster...
Tosha Tyran: giggles... please thirza - no more big men for me, hahaha
James Atlloud: The convertible vw was much larger than i'd imagined.
Nyx Breen: Race model James
Thirza Ember: this is truly NPIRL
Cherry Manga: yes love that
Tina Bey: lol
Tosha Tyran: its out of this world... so wild
Thirza Ember: at first it is overwhelming but as you get used to it, there is a sort of flow and tide to the color and movement
Lysondra June: Something new and exciting everywhere
Tosha Tyran: yes and then there is Nyx, teleporting me every 5 minutes
Thirza Ember: super fast rez though
James Atlloud: The current EEP reminds me of the v'ger cloud from the star trek movie.
Koshari Mahana: So many amazing techniques!
Spax Orion: somewhat disorienting at first
Cherry Manga: Nyx is a good illustration of how I see art in opensim: no limitation, no gravity, no physics, 3D , 3D, and 3D not damned flat displays.. Well to my Nyx understand so well the possibilities of opensim, and I loooove this
Dings Digital: this is a fantastic world. so inspiring!
Thirza Ember: plus, Nyx is part of the art!
Nyx Breen: YES MY SHINY ASS IS ART PERFECTION
One last tp by Nyx took us to the most extreme part, here's a photo because i think the gif might be bad for anyone with eye issues
Thirza Ember: this one extreme for sure, like being in a meteor shower
James Atlloud: It's a challenge to determine the distance to some things. I think, I'll just walk up to it.  Noo no no no
Thirza Ember: this has been a wild ride, tomorrow is the big Pangea party here, right?
James Atlloud: btw Nyx, you are wearing a great outfit.  My grandkids need that so I can find them!
Nyx Breen: Yes, it helps me find me
Koshari Mahana: Your clothes look fantastic Nyx
Cherry Manga: Great great great! Even on potato computer, 4x4 region, things everywhere, scripts everywhere, I did it! with pleasuuuuuuure ... congrats Nyx, you rock!!!
Tina Bey: Thanks for showing your art.
James Atlloud: If VARS were meant to be filled, you've truly done it! How much of this could we have seen today - 5%?
Nyx Breen: Well, this is how I see art in Virtual Worlds. I have 5 sims here in pangea, each different, filled with close to a hundred different experiences. So 4% is about right.
Thirza Ember: Next Wednesday is the final tour of the season, but after that, we have 2 big Safari Specials coming up, hope to see everyone next time!
