Osgrid is back up, or kind of back up, not entirely convinced by it, from a performance point of view, but it's a good omen, and another promise of good times ahead is the start of the Advent build by Ange Menges and Nani ferguson. Ange and Nani have been consistently building festive, ephemeral regions for over 12 years in Opensim (and worked together before that back in SL) so they're used to the vagaries of the virtual. They have set up their latest creation Advent Calendar on two grids, Zetaworlds and OSGrid.
When you arrive there's the usual poster board but this time, no HUD, it's just up to you to go out wandering around the snowy, bosky neighborhood and seek out structures with numbers on them.
The idea is that, each day, you'll find a new chalet or cabin with a new prize. My hunting skillz are right up there next to my driving skills. in other words, nonexistent, ask anyone unlucky enough to come on a racing Safari, but even I was able to spot the first little house. Bear in mind that flying is turned off here, but not, thank goodness, local teleport, so it is easy to move around the sim in search of goodies.
The cute little pup is adorable! |
The prize inside Number 1 was a lovely old fountain. If you don't think you'll have time for multiple visits, you might want to wait until closer to Xmas when there should be many more prizes to find.
To be honest the real fun of the place is the theme of seasonal foods, with cakes and sweets of every kind juxtaposed with the improbable flora and cute little houses.I couldn't get to the OSGrid version of Advent Calendar, it showed up as private... OSGrid still seems a little on the wonky side. But a quick jump to ZW (hg addresses at the end of the post as always) brought me immediately to this lovely village in candy colors.
Another really lovely build by our talented friends.HG Addresses
