Portal Palette

The Safari is on break, but of course that doesn't mean that nobody wants to go hypergridding!
If you're looking for company, or a music and dance event, the Beacons of opensimworld are a very handy way of finding where it's going on, just open the OSW website and look at the Regions or the Events page.
If that's not your thing, maybe you'd like to take a tour of art regions, or some other themed trip around the metaverse.  On the HG Safari region on OSGrid, you will find some suggestions.
These self guided tours are a low-tech and wide ranging way of exploring opensim, but because virtual worlds are always in a state of flux, with people changing grids, taking down or moving their regions, and with new regions emerging,  it's quite a task to keep the lists of Landmarks up to date.
This week all the Art portals have been updated, with a couple still to come.
How are these tours organized?
Each art tour is named after a color. The tours are made up of six art regions and sometimes the LM takes you to a whole set of sims. In most cases each destination in the group is on a different grid.
This is very low tech - no HUD script to stop working, no permissions to worry about, there is no competitive spirit to these destinations - they're all interesting, you'll find your own favorites.
How does it work?
Choose a color,  you can get an idea of the destinations in each set for the photos that appear under the Menu.
Then, click on the Menu and receive a folder with a set of Landmarks, and a Notecard explaining in the simplest terms what the places are. Because nobody reads long notecards.
Visit the 6 places in any order that you wish, it makes no difference, but to make life a little bit easier, the Portal next to the LM dispenser will take you to the first place on the Notecard.
Otherwise, you've got the LMs in a folder in your Inventory to use now or later, or share with friends.
 What qualifies as 'Art'?
First of all, there must be dozens of really great sims that are not featured in this portal collection. It would be impossible for one person to know everywhere in opensim. Since one could argue that every sim in opensim is a work of art, so one has to draw the line somewhere, so these destinations are places with art galleries, or feature one or more art installation.  No reflection on the time or talent of places that have not been included.
I don't like art - got anything else?
If you look around the HG Safari region, you'll find another set of portals (not yet updated) that cover destinations with themes like 'Science', 'History', 'Film Lovers', and 'Real Places'.
