Off the Chart

After the big German welcome we got over on Carima Grid, while visiting the Amazoniens, our second stop on this 17th Safari tour of 2023 was to Ignis Fatuus grid, the home of  Max and Nadir. Lots of fellow frenchies were on hand to welcome us, which was lovely especially if you speak French, and if you want to get that full gallic - mayhem feel, you can watch a vid made of our visit by Prodyck Theas over on Twitch. The HG Address of the build is, of course, at the end of this post.

The region, on arrival, is immediately identifiable as an Ignis build - fantastic towers and tranquil seas, and that sense of all not being quite as it seems.
Max Well [fr→en]: good evening to all of you, thank you for coming tonight
Nadir Rae [fr→en]: Good evening! If you like music, open your audio player, dear friends
Max Well [fr→en]: this region is actually a medieval navigation map
Nadir Rae: MAX will lead us,  I will close the way.
And so, off we go. a dark, rocky pathway, with the rain falling down and steely grey cascades falling from forbidding cliffs, running almost sheer into the surrounding sea. A dark door awaited us, and an even darker tunnel - into a gloomy gallery where the main points of light are beautiful pictures, all by Nadir. Ships and seascapes on dungeon walls... and if you look long enough you will realise the images are moving... beautiful!
There's far more to see here, so after enjoying the pictures, we walked upstairs to a secret-ish room... you'll have to hunt around for the stair case, but it's worth it.
Max admiring the art
By the way Ignis grid is only online in the late afternoons and evenings, European time, so bear that in mind when planning a visit - it the HG Address doesn't resolve, the grid is probably offline. Being a small personal grid, it's not 24/7 accessible.
In a dark alcove, a light....
Max Well [fr→en]: it's a teleport, you have to enter the circle
Nadir.Rae [fr→en]: you are going to be eaten by a monster
Forest Azure: again?
Tosha Tyran: wow, I made it
Forest Azure: so far, Tosha :)
Tosha Tyran: I am daring, Forest... hehehe, this is like one of those old pirate maps, maybe we should look for a treasure
Nara Nook: cool
Thirza Ember: so the build is all about the journey... the map falling over the edge of the world... and the ships
Tosha Tyran: the edge of the world? I thought the world was doughnut shaped, no edges...
Max explained that this all began with a internet search. The floor here is a map he saw online and thought was cute, and he built the sim around it. He wanted to put waterfalls, and rocks, and he added the boat because on the map the boat is being attacked by a sea serpent.
Max started it but the elements like the clouds were all by Nadir, and of course the gallery bit is by Nadir. In the sky there's a little rock - a flying island, that contains a cave...
...and inside, there's a cave with some interesting contents. Bones and couches - it's a little hideaway.
Tosha Tyran: jolines, this is awesome... when I saw all the bones on my way here I thought - that was it, a good tosha is a dead tosha...
Nadir Rae [fr→en]: Can we chop enough wood? it's cool in this cave
Thirza Ember: How long to build this place, Max?
Max Well [fr→en]: I think we spent a week I wanted to do something with waterfalls, and it gave this region
Tosha Tyran: astonishing - a palm tree inside a cave
Thirza Ember: the photosynthesis on this grid is amazing
Nara Nook: hmm
Max Well [fr→en]: this region communicates with another region just next door, that Nadir and I did, from the painting The Lady of Shalott
Forest.Azure: ah, that lady is in the Art Box too
Tosha Tyran: ah really, can we visit that too?
Nadir.Rae2[fr→en]: With pleasure... there is a surprise
Tosha Tyran: ha! I love surprises
Nadir.Rae2: go back onto the map
Max Well [fr→en]: there is an invisible passage here
Tosha Tyran: oh dang, the edge of thw world, we will be lost!
Thirza Ember: have faith

Max Well [fr→en]: this region comes from a well-known painting the Lady of Shalott. Nadir and I tried to make a scene from the painting
Tosha Tyran: this was really hard work :P
Lady Shalott: Bonjour, mon nom est: Lady Shalott
The Lady of Shalott
Forest Azure: ooh, here she is
Thirza Ember: "out flew the web and floated wide... the mirror cracked from side to side...."
Tosha Tyran: this is lovely
Nadir Rae: it's a great classic story
Max Well [fr→en]: I think everyone knows the story of Lady of Shalott
Walking on the lake
Forest Azure: ehm, no
Tosha Tyran: I don't either, but I just looked it up
Forest Azure: a short story?
Thirza Ember: a poem by Tennyson, about a woman who spends all her time looking at the world through a mirror, and then one day Lancelot rides by, and she can't resist looking out the real window, and the mirror breaks, and she dies
Lucy Afarensis: Sad
Forest Azure: THE Lancelot?
Thirza Ember: well the poem is from the 1800s, so it's a Victorian idea of Lancelot
Nadir Rae: this tower is part of the poem. I really like the view from here
Star Ravenhurst: That is incredible!
Tosha Tyran: I love the texture of the mountains
Nadir Rae: me too
Nara Nook: so pretty
Alex Salamander: nice
Tosha Tyran: poor lady Shalott, we are dancing and she is dying
Thirza Ember: well she is immortal now
Forest Azure: really, all this in a week? amazing!
Tosha Tyran: it really is a most interesting grid... and one week? you must be some sort of magicians
Star Ravenhurst: This is my most favorite place in Open Sim.
Tosha Tyran: I just love the the set up of the landscape and the texture of the mountains is just awesome, thank you Nadir and Max!
Nara Nook: Thank you for the lovely visit
Forest Azure: yes, a great sim and a great tour, ty!
Tosha Tyran: its been a delight!
