Nyx Breen: Hello everyone, and welcome to Aedifex in the AMV grid; Aedifex is an ancient greek name for Creator.
Nyx Breen |
Nyx Breen: Today we will explore both sides of Aedifex, the land side of highly detailed nature and builds. Then we will explore the skies of Aedifex and the 3D Artscapes that fill the heavens above us. Aedifex is a 4x4 70,000 prim land surrounded by water, allowing one to explore by boat, vehicle, horse, and walking. At the main welcome area of Aedifex for the land, you will find an NC giver with LMs for all the significant points of Aedifex.
Aedifex ground level panorama |
Nyx Breen: The welcome center for Aedifex's 3D Artscapes provides you with a teleporter system exploring a dozen of the 60-plus art experiences. The land theme is based on an oceanfront community with several styles of environments, from oceanfront tropical beaches to cliffside homes overlooking a vast sea. The more you move inland on Aedifex, the terrain changes and rises in height. You can visit and explore caves, canyons, waterways, and waterfall landscapes.
Costa Rica House |
Dreamy builds, of stardust and sand, on Aedifex. it's a huge region, so come with room in your cache, and be ready to open up that draw distance as soon as it's practical to do so. A word of warning on Aedifex regarding the lighting. Most seasoned HG travelers try to respect the windlight or EEP set up by the region creator, however challenging that may be, at least to start with (although gloomy windlights get old fast). Aedifex is essentially the home to two different art genres, let's call them for simplicity's sake the architectural ground level, and the abstract sky area. In order to see the stuff in the sky you need to be in midnight mode, and that's the default sim setting. However, you should feel free to personalize the daylight in your graphics in the architectural areas. It's fun to run about here in night mode, but you shouldn't feel obliged to do so if it makes for a subfusc experience.
A shout out also to Clifford Hanger and his team on Alternate Metaverse grid, for his sterling work in making sure the sim was in perfect condition for our visit. That kind of behind-the-scenes effort and talent goes unacknowledged only too often, but without it, the trip wouldn't have been half as spectacular.

Nyx Breen: The first place we see is a tropical beach villa based on an RL location in Costa Rica. The Costa Rican Beach Villa has all the amenities one would expect in this style of environment, boating, sailing, surfing, pools, and places to explore for individuals or couples.
Thundergod Thor: That aquarium is eye catching. Very nicely done.
Nyx Breen: I was asked how long I have been on AMV, I have been here from about march of 2022
Mal Burns: lot to have done in a few months
Beth Ghostraven: yes, it looks like it took years
Nyx Breen: Many individuals notice that home builds are more prominent than what is typically seen in virtual worlds. The reason is an artistic and specific decision to allow for a cleaner view based on the position that viewers provide individuals with the POV of the camera viewing position. I also set all furniture in all the builds to the phantom setting, allowing for an effortless walking experience while at Aedifex properties.
Martin Eccles58: Good thinking
Nyx and the group at the Costa Rica house |
Beth Ghostraven: good idea... how much virtual worlds experience did you have before you came here?
Nyx Breen: i was in SL from 2006, when it all really started, over in Inworldz I had a texture store with over 10K textures
Thundergod Thor: Which do you find easier to build in, SL or OS?
Star Ravenhurst: I agree I think most come from SL...and then we love it in OS
Nyx Breen: The following location is Woodloft, a northwest mountain-themed experience that is heavily wooded, with multiple waterfalls and a vast canyon area for boating and canoeing. As you may have noticed, home builds are created with a focus on design and a combination of exteriors and interiors merging with plantscape and art.
Star Ravenhurst: Lovely house
Snoots Dwagon: I like the open space and textures here
Woodloft at dawn |
Nyx Breen: The second part of the Aedifex tour consists of the Art side. Above us are 45 3D immersive Artscapes, each unique and designed to expand the experiences you have had in a virtual world. As we say here, "be part of the art." There is movement and sometimes flashing lights, but the size of the pieces, some over 2000 meters, allows most individuals to experience them without adverse experiences. use Midnight only
Lucy Afarensis: I know why the windlite is so dark now
Thundergod Thor: I thought my monitor went haywire
Nyx Breen: The concept of 3D Artscapes allowed individuals to be part of the art and the ability to walk through the images of an abstract art piece. If you cam out from yourself, you will see the actual size of the art pieces and what they truly look like. You can view other artscapes in the vastness of this art universe you are experiencing. So when we get to them, please walk around, fly and explore each environment. It will change how it appears when you move your avatar through the piece. Camming does not correctly show this effect.
Teleport base for the sky installations |
Nyx Breen: max your draw out now, look up, look down
Thirza Ember: Nyx you think this is going to be your max space, or do you expect to get more regions, as your experiments increase?
Nyx Breen: I have another sim, called immersive, and I am going to be showing pangea grid, with a 4x4 and 40K in prims
Wizardoz Chrome: beautiful ! :)
Kelso Uxlay: Very impressive
Nyx Breen: no particles used at all, this is all mesh and alpha textures
Thirza Ember: imagine the lag if it was all particles!
Nyx Breen: death of a sim lol
There are loads of choices on Aedifex - about a dozen different sky installs you can jump to from the central tp hub. Knowing our time was limited, Nyx took the group to see just a few - smart move, for it leaves us with stuff to come back and see, and prevents the one hour trip from descending into a blur of new places and sensations.
Nyx Breen: any guess what the rainbow sparkle is ? all around us it is a fav of the ladies... it is a body sparkle you attach to you avi, I stretched it like 400 times
Veritas McMasterAMV: body glitter?
Nyx Breen: cam so you look down, see the other pieces
Finally, we visited Space Dance, a build with NPCs in movement, showing up slight and delicate and sinuous against the somber colors of the night sky with its nebula-like quality, emphasizing the depth and enormity of the space.
Nyx Breen: we are up at 9990meters, and you can see 4 other pieces from here
Star Ravenhurst: I didn't know we could go that high
Lucy Afarensis: How high is it possible to build ? I could only tp to 8100 meters
Nyx Breen: hyper cubes
Nyx Breen: this is the max height, then you build off sim style but upward. The main prim is this height and the rest get pushed up, that's how you cheat. I will would willing to show individuals how to do this type of art if there is an interest, there are tricks to get get up here.
Thirza Ember: you should do a presentation at the OSCC, they are still open for proposals
Star Ravenhurst: I would be interested as I could use something like this in a build I am doing
Lucy Afarensis: It is a fun place to do a free fall from, 8100 meters
Nyx Breen: would take all day to fall lol
Kelso Uxlay: This is the most amazing set of pieces that I have ever seen in OpenSim
Thirza Ember: Nyx is a guest on Mal's talk show on Sunday at 12 noon SLT
Star Ravenhurst: That is awesome! Can't wait to see it!
Star Ravenhurst: The music is perfect for this experience
Thirza Ember: it's been a wild ride today
Thundergod Thor: That it has, but fun, it was most enjoyable.
Thirza Ember: Thor's first Safari as a tourist - congrats on not losing us
Thundergod Thor: LOL I will try to come on others.
Martin Eccles58: I feel new too as I haven't been for a couple of years
Thirza Ember: lovely of you to get up so early to join us Martin
Martin Eccles58: Thanks and I'll try to get to more!
Star Ravenhurst: Oh that should be Spooktacular!
Brian Too: Thanks for sharing. Must fly. Toodle pip
Veritas McMasterAMV: Bye Brian, thanks for coming
Kelso Uxlay: no lag at all, nice job. Thanks for all this... amazing
Star Ravenhurst: I didn't have any lag either. Thank you for the tour! Lovely place overall! It was good seeing everyone...until next time...Bye
Nyx Breen: I want to thank you all for coming today it was a pleasure
Martin Eccles58: Thanks very much !
