AMV's Long Weekend

Sultry summer weather. Gas prices high, and so is the mercury. You've simply got to get away. Idk, a long weekend in Calistoga, all spa and art and Eastern healing stuff and cool happenings - that sounds about right. 

If that is out of your price range - or thousands of miles out of your weekend travel range - here's a really good alternative... AMV has a long weekend of art coming up. It's going to be held from Friday 11 August through Monday. 14 August  with events all over five different regions including OpenMic Arts, The Arts, Festival of Arts, In Tribute, and AMV Special Events.

Cataplexia Numbers has prepared one of her super long and complete Notecards, so this post won't repeat all the info you can grab from that. Here are a few glimpses though... 

...this is the landing point on AMV Special Events. It has this fabulous gauzy teal feel, with magnificent copper columns and a fantastical sky. 

The community art show - Zoree Jupiter display

There is a great courtyard hemmed in with tent-style stalls resembling  something out of the Arabian nights, where AMV residents can display their 2D and 3D creations. This one is by Zoree Jupiter, best known to most of us for her singing, but she's an all round talented lady...

Lots of original art to explore and discover here, take your time, it is worth it. This sim has so much going on ! Here is Nyx Breen's extravaganza, a sparkling display perfectly in keeping with this midsummer carnival feel.

The fun kicks off on Friday with a series of events from music by the likes of Clan Escotia, BG Singer, Dave King, and Madrul, to storytelling and even a Greedy social.

Then brace yourselves for the Saturday fun when things heat up even more with diverse events -  from   Dinkies to Burlesque! Lots more music too.

In another corner of AMV Special Events,
a battleship lurks close to a fantasy garden with flowers and a fountain...

... moving on, this is the In Tribute region. it has more of a Victorian park or garden vibe to it, perfect for some serene and healing tunez. 

Appropriately here  you'll find a big poster paying tribute to everyone who has contributed to the event. It is a nice touch because surely, no project on this scale can be a success without a lot of contributions and cooperation.

Moving on, here is the AMV Special Events region... and here the party goes up another notch! A little bit circus, a little bit funfair, a little bit carnival, this region will be busy over the whole long weekend.

Among the many events will be a 'Sizzle Fashion Show' on Sunday... at the Cat's Meow. 

What's not to love, a bit of strutting the virtual stuff.
The long weekend winds up with Monday's lineup,  DJ Alex Harper, the excellent Ian Kitsilano, and five ours of music on the In Tribute region. You'll be all tuckered out after this fab four day fantabuloosa.
