Nyx Breen |
Nyx Breen: welcome all. Make sure MIDNIGHT MAX DRAW AND PARTICLES for next part of the Tour
James Atlloud: Ooo, max draw. I'll get a cool towel for the GeForce!
Thirza Ember: ok, let's try to break Pangea Grid with max draw distances...
Nyx Breen: no way! lol, this is a 4x4 immersive - we are set for this!
Landing point on the Jazzland build |
Once again, Nyx Breen pulled out all the stops to create a purpose built immersive experience on Pangea Grid for this weeks Safari, dedicated to the celebration of Jazz, and once again, his build didn't disappoint. It is another huge creation - celebrating both the music and the freedom that builders have in opensim to make something with a huge prim count and acres of space, where the public can be truly wowed. It's a place of movement, so when you arrive, be ready to move! If your draw distance isn't high, you may miss some of the best bits, including the jazz club with dance ball and musical instruments, not to mention all the faces from the past. HG Address and so on at the end of the post, as per tradition.
Wizardoz Chrome: wow awesome !
Lavia Lavine: Beautiful I love the effects
Kashi Takeshi: Nice place!
Tosha Tyran: this looks a little dangerous to walk on
Debora Cabreo: Space Doilies... What is up there?... oooh, beautiful
Nyx Breen: I love it people all around the immersive
Thirza Ember: like a temple to jazz
Debora Cabreo: yes, quite a temple
Walking from the landing point, a sort of golden lobby, to the brass-bound box that is the Jazz Club on this build, means traversing a fantastic field of holograms, representing the faces and forms of dozens of the best names in Jazz music, pointing particularly to its heyday. Fantastic ghostly palm trees, art deco searchlights, and a giant saxophone add to the Jazz Age ambience on a monumental scale.
Lavia Lavine: a step back into a growing and changing time for so many people.
Kashi Takeshi: Great design!
Nyx Breen |
Nyx Breen: we have no performer, but can still dance anywhere you want with the dance ball above. what is playing - they change it up different times. Here is the link - http://mozart.wkar.msu.edu/wkar-jazz, it does tend to make one want to dress up, heck I even changed Nyx clothes, and I have like 4 outfits! lol, got a new one for this.
The 'Mal, Deb and Forest' trio making make-believe music |
James Atlloud: So interesting that Art Deco and Frank Lloyd Wright are so similar, yet philosophically so different.
Nyx Breen: walk out into the holograms and look up or look from above down they follow your camera point of view
Thirza Ember: thanks Nyx for making this specially for International Jazz Day! (which is actually Sunday, but who cares)
Nyx Breen: you're welcome, did make this just for the tour
Forest Azure: all this? wow
Nyx Breen: it took an hour and 15 minutes to see all the pictures, the hard part of this build was when there was a few thousand alpha prims and hologram prims mixed and trying to place new ones in... its a challenge to do - but the effect is striking
Thirza Ember: how many different photos did you gather altogether? look like about 50 to me
Mal Burns: jazz all the way
Nyx Breen: of the Jazz Age individuals yes, actually have more some incredible ziegfield woman ones but only so much to make the build work' it actually spent two days getting miost of it up and done It took an hour and 15 minutes to see all the pictures
Thirza Ember: that's an impressive effect, walking and having the faces appear- it works even when camming
Nyx Breen: when you go into them and look up they all face you
Nara Nook: playing drums with an ink pen
Tosha Tyran: I love this totally different approach to express basically the same thing: love an appreciation of Jazz
Yara Eild: It looks beautiful
Nyx.Breen: ty Yara, was fun doing this art piece... looked for images on my phone, and downloaded...was easy free time in car or subway in town looked and found
Yara.Eild: A nice idea
Nyx Breen: the hologram script gives a great effect
Thirza Ember: fantastic yes! Do you have a favorite from all these jazz performers?
Nyx Breen: good and hard question at same time hmmmm... i think Coltrane or Davis, but I love a lot of jazz
Thirza Ember: this kind of research, to get so many pictures, probably made you discover even more good performers, Nyx!
Nyx Breen: true, it did.
Thirza Ember: Who is the best all time Jazz musician? What do you all think?
James Atlloud: Oh no... that's a difficult question. My go-to favorite is Chick Corea
Debora Cabreo: Zeppo Marks
Forest Azure: Nina Simone
Tosha Tyran: Billie Holiday
Nyx Breen: so many good ones - but Ella was missed
Kashi Takeshi: Chick Corea is great.. So sad he passed away last year. Musical genius.
James Atlloud: yes - ty Kashi. I really love the concert at Montreux - it's on the YouTube.
Tosha Tyran: ah, not to forget Django Reinhard
Nyx Breen: for those of you not familiar with Pangea grid this is an artist based grid
Kashi Takeshi: Pangea is kewl, nice and artistic people
Nyx Breen: I have 3 4x4 VAR size sims full of art experiences I welcome those who have not seen them to just ask for LM folders and go explore
Yara Eild: Yes please!
Star.Ravenhurst: I will take a LM folder please.
James Atlloud: I'll take a folder. But for some reason my job wants me to focus on its needs! Go figure.
Lucy Afarensis: Lots of fun with this safari Must return to rl. Thanks, it has been fun and interesting.
Nyx Breen: cam down and see others below us
James Atlloud: Thirza, can you reach the moon?
Thirza Ember: you can fly to the moon from here, maybe?
Nyx Breen: James I did A Moon 50th anniversary landing party over on Discovery had the gravity changes so you bounced when you walked or drove the lunamobile around
Star Ravenhurst: This is all quite beautiful Nyx.
Nyx Breen: ty star, the club I have had a while now, it's great to be able to dance in the group and also cam out to see it all
Star Ravenhurst: I have been seeing the photos you have been posting on Facebook recently. Are you planning on using them for a build inworld?
Nyx Breen: do you mean my RL images in a virtual world?
Star Ravenhurst: Yes, It looks like a lot of them are around town, random people, buildings, etc
Nyx Breen: Pangea has an exhibit up of some of my RL images and I have started to take more textures/images for use inworld, the people ones are street photography style. I curate a show at the Gallery of the art group I belong to we have had up to 89 street photographers and 1800 images shown in an immersive format at a gallery in Boston with two glass walls that you can see the pictures from inside and outside
James Atlloud: Oh wow Nyx.
Star Ravenhurst: I wish I could see that!
Nyx Breen: Go to www.nyxbreen.com to see some of my images, I am on FB and Instagram too, same name
Star Ravenhurst: I bookmarked it so I can enjoy later. Nyx.
Tosha Tyran: Nyx, very awesome build you have here, thanks for being such a sweet host :)
Debora Cabreo: bye everybody, see you all on the next Venture! <3
