After a little bit of a break, Safari returned with a roar this week.
We went first to a destinations right here on OSGrid. If you're ever visited the iconic Maritime Club venue, which has regular Sunday night music events, you'll know our first host.
Stiofain MacTomais invited us to discover more about Irish culture, and the changing face of Belfast from the photos of Frankie Quinn The build records some of the city's lost landmarks and reminds us of its rich heritage.
Our second stop was an art event by Art Blue on Metropolis, on his region Futurelab.
I can't lie, I never really know what is going on when Art invites us, there's always a lot of words that seem to be in the right order, but don't actually convey anything concrete to me. One time, I asked the others, including other Germans, if they knew what he's on about, and they said no...
Art Blue. He seems happy. |
Finally John 'Pathfinder' Lester invited us back to Pathlandia to chat. Pathlandia is a very small grid, just a pied a terre for Path really, but it occupies a special place in the heart of anyone who's been hypergridding since that activity became possible.
Pathfinder and Mal Burns |
Path organized the Hypergrid Adventurer's Club in 2012 and many oldbies, travellers, and small grid owners frequented it, meeting here, chatting about the vagaries of the code, and then going out on the HG to visit places of interest. It was thanks to path's work, and his club, that the HG Safari group got started.
The main region on the sim has a huge freebie collection, more like an attic of memories than a mall, with lots of items left here to be shared, or found by path and set up on the sim to be copyable. Watch out for that camp fire - it has known to be converted into the teleport portal (just for fun) to go to our first destination back in the day!
