Safari Reentry

 After a long sultry summer, at least in this part of the world, with lots of distractions and complications when it comes to being inworld, the Safari mechanism is creaking back into gear in time for our first trip on September 2. It will begin at the usual time, 12 noon SLT, which is 3pm on the East Coast and 9pm in Paris. If you use Opensimworld,  Discord or FB or Mewe you can get regular reminders of events, and there's usually a reminder on the day in the HG Safari group on OSGrid..

Among the many things that have distracted me during the long break is a YouTube channel that you might enjoy - BobbyFingers . In a way, his channel is a bit like Opensim, although it's not virtual... with lots of passion going into very specific builds, lots of unexpected global connections, an open-ended, slow pace to the building process, and some amazing, thoughtful, and humorous creations.

Speaking of humor, the new season of HG Safari will bring us to twenty different destinations over the ten week arc, with visits to regions with poetry, art, and new inworld tech, as well as racing and riding, mazes and beaches; mermaids and goddesses, installations and vortexes. Or should that be vortices.

For our first trip, we first visit two outstanding builds that will both entertain you and inspire you to do your own building projects!  The first is the Day of the Dead installation by Kimm Starr and Cooper Swizzle, over on The Zones grid. Here is their promo video just to give you a flavor of what is going on over there.

As usual we'll have an hour to check out the build, which of course will not be enough to see everything, so make sure you keep the LM and go back to see the rest of it - maybe bring some friends, and share the joy.

For our second destination, it's everyone's favorite codemaven, the beautiful and talented Bloom Peters of Winxtropia grid.

Bloom has spent the whole summer bringing to life her ideas about using MIDI in virtual worlds - yes, she's been working on this project for a lot longer than one summer, but recent weeks have caused her to make some amazing leaps forward - prepare to be literally awestruck!

Whether you come inworld to explore the technical possibilities, or to see beautiful interactive creations, or because you love music - this build is going to blow your socks off. Here's a flavor of her work, and if you aren't already subscribed to her YT channel, now's the time !

This is how our trips work.

We depart each week from the Clubhouse on HG Safari grid at 12 noon SLT but it's a good idea to come over about ten minutes before go time, to give yourself a chance to pick up landmarks and the last minute info - this being Opensim, there are quite often eleventh hour changes to where we are going, and you'll only be guaranteed the correct information if you come to the clubhouse.

This will also give you a chance to chat with other regulars, which is always handy, by friending each other it's easier to keep the group together when the hypergrid has its wicked way with our attempts to grid jump.

As always, anyone is welcome to join us on the trips, and if you're thinking about inviting the Safari group to visit your region in the future, joining us for a few trips can give you a useful insight into how the trips work, and what  doesn't work out so well with a big group.
