Pangea Festival 2026

The 2026 edition of the Arts and Culture festival on Pangea grid is about to get started, don't miss this opportunity to enjoy imaginative builds and thought provoking exhibits.
The festival, first held in 2022,  is organized by Lampithaler Artist with of course lots of tech input from the other Pangea residents, and the event is held on various regions all across Pangea, over many months.

Events are posted on the Pangea website and also in places like the Events page on OSW, in the Pangea facebook group and so on.
The whole thing kicks off on Friday April 24 at 8pm in Germany, 11am Grid time, with of course a dance party. It's a chance to celebrate the 20 years of Virtual Cologne - yes, all the way back in 2006,  Marlon originally had a virtual Cologne region on Second Life. Since then of course he discovered the opportunities of Opensim, and Koeln is at the heart of his grid Pangea!
In real life, the massive Cologne Cathedral or Kölner Dom is considered the symbol of the city, and not just for religious reasons. It is a technical marvel, the world's tallest cathedral, almost 800 years old, a World Heritage Site and Germany's most visited landmark. Inworld, the Pangea version is at present ringed around with domes connected to the upcoming festival which will include a tribute to Luna Lunaria.
Why is the sim called Koeln? Fun fact, you may know that Köln is the correct German spelling of what we anglophones call Cologne (the city stands on the location of an ancient Roman Agrippina Colony) but since the Viewer doesn't like diacritics (you know, accents, cedilla, or in this case the umlaut over the ö) there's a workaround to spell Köln properly - add an e = Koeln.  As solidly German in origin as the region is, Pangea grid isn't insular in any way, and the grid boasts a fine international artist community here, and while many residents are German speakers, there are also Swedish, Spanish, French, English speakers... and no doubt I've missed some others.
I'm excited to see Lampi's installation with music by Reyno Parx
it's called Procrastination - my kind of build!
No need to give you a long list of participants, or reveal too much too soon. Lots of info will be available in coming weeks and months, but alongside Lampi who is both artist and organizer Cherry Manga has a new build that's part of this event (here on her FB page is a bit of a sneak peek ) and she's not the only one. As usual the festival has attracted big names, drawn to the peaceful atmosphere created on this grid by grid owners Marlon Wayne and Tutz Zabelin.
