Winterfair is Coming

Pirate and shipwright extraordinaire Trouble Ahead together with One Andonly and Cata Raven, the owners of Catronian Archipelago, have organized another event for the merchants of Kitely this winter. The address is as usual at the end of the post. Bear in mind, you can't just jump direct to the fair, you have to go through the Catronian Archipelago landing point, and it's on Kitely so as you well know, if nobody's on the sim there it'll take a sec until the region comes online.

Popping over ahead of the opening day which is 14 December, it was great to observe that the skybox with this event on it is already looking super seasonal. It's a positively chilly townscape with lots of snow and frozen (and skatable) canals, and of course a schooner. 

You may remember we voyaged here on Safari  back in May 2024. So many islands and sail related adventures to be had with this predominantly roleplaying group!

As regards Winterfair, you'll encounter quite a lot of brands and names you'll have heard of if you browse the Kitely website; most of the stalls push you onto Kitely Market rather than have buyable boxes, and that probably makes things easier for the vendors. 

To make the event even more festive, like the Christmas Market over on Bloonmoonpackgrid, there is even a prize for the best build to be announced during the opening party with DJ Melanie Auxifur.

I'm guessing Koshari is going to win 'best booth' with her charming ceramic-look xmas items...

Now before you say, wait a minute Thirza, we all know you have zero interest in christmas, and even less interest in buying things in Opensim... yes, you're correct on both points! But not everyone shares my distaste and if you're in the market for Xmas markets, this is certainly a cute one. 

The Dutch houses surrounding the main square are very picturesque, as are the slightly improbable mountains behind - the beauty of opensim is that the Netherlands can be alpine!

Mixed up among the straight-up sellers, there are some stalls with freebies, including general xmas decor in the ceramic build by Koshari and also these really very cute little boxes by Trouble, there's jewelry, textures, and even some scripts by Kayaker on his 'Ocean Engineering' stall. 

The market is made up of a range of products, from simple items like these Wayda Dreamscape candles to elves and baubles, boats, houses, clothes, paintings and avies, and vintage hair.Then there are these adorable boxes...

within them, behind the pretty image on the front, you will find lots of odds and ends of xmas decor...   and - wow are those Chris Creationz christmas tree hats?

Apart from the scripts, pretty much all the gifts here are no mod/copy/trans. So if you like to mod stuff or pass it to your other avies, but try not to break permissions, a lot of this may not be good for your projects; still, you may enjoy rooting around anyway. Ho ho ho.
