Canadian Advent - ure

It's always a warm welcome at Novale. As every season comes along it offers a unique opportunity to explore the landscape. The winter is of course an enormous part of the culture of this part of the world, and so the snow lies thickly over the sim, the perfect backdrop to the colorful festive fun.
But there is jeopardy here too - of course! We are, after all, in the land of Alec Trebeck.
Seriously, take heed of the warning and do not touch Rupert's nose.  Or if you do, be sure that you're wearing warm and tightly fitting underclothes.
Travel Agency building in the
As every year, there are dozens of fun and well made winter builds all around opensim, and Creanovale's owner-builders, Dabici Straulino and Kelso Uxlay, are the first to acknowledge the fact - they have a Travel Agency on their region that will give you LMs to all the finest festive builds that are on this year.
There are so many ways to tour the region, it would be a crying shame just to cam and jump. You will miss the sounds and many of the sights, not to mention the thrill of riding the saucer... saucy times!
The 'excuse' if you need one is the Advent Calendar, an excellent reason for touring and surfing the possible freebies. How fun it is to find some new piece of daftness or delight, and Dabici and Kelso surely go the extra mile to share the goodies with a grateful public.
Even if, like me,  you're not all that into Christmas you can't help to be enchanted by the unusual and crafty decorations that fill the sim. This wooden xmas tree (wooden? can trees be otherwise? Well, I suppose there are those aluminum foil ones) is a touch of shabby cedar shingle chic that I'd not come across before. Love it.
The main landmarks on this region are always the same, just dressed to match the season - the church, the observation tower, the mill, the lighthouse and so on.

They become familiar as the faces of friends, serenely marking the passing of time.

It will come as no surprise that on Novale, the horses are magnificent, of course they are!  - how far we have come from the clunky quadrupeds of yesteryear.
This one was sure footed enough to take a turn among the penguins on the great frozen lake.

But perhaps the best bit of all is the Santa store. There's a Saint Nick for every taste here, from the gruesome to the toothsome. The chap at the front looks like every grotto's worst nightmare. What larks!

There is an Advent Calendar game on the region, make sure you participate, it is devilishly well devised and will keep you occupied for a good long while, and will motivate you to discover the less obvious corners of this corner of Canada. This will be extended into a real Hunt on 25 and 26 December, so between the Turkey and the annual family row, be sure to get over and click those baubles - there are prizes to be had!
