Party On

It's the weekend - Saturday night, and the place to be os Event Plaza. But wait - OSGrid is offline for long term maintenance!
How can this be?
The familiar triple tent and steel structure, a semicircle of dancing fun. It all looks very familiar, with just a little bit less lag than you generally would expect to find, even when arriving long after the party has started.
Everything's here, including the Events boards, all updated for the coming week, and of course Aussie's little home from home up in the corner. The sim was rockin' with 33 avatars from 20 different grids gathered to chat and dance, romance, and delight in the tunes of PutriSolo

Of course, this definitely isn't OSgrid - so where are we? And how did this familiar opensim landmark find a new temporary home? Time to quiz AMusic Man aka Aussie Envee.
Aussie Envee: When Osgrid closed for upgrade, I decided to start another club to keep Osgrid alive. I tried various clubs and finally set up Twilight where it worked successfully, but we started getting more visitors than I expected and we started to get lag and other terrible things happening. I received offers from various grids to move to theirs, but in the end I arranged with Dan Banner and Paela [Argus] to set up the Events Plaza on Paela's grid.

I asked that fabulous DJ and general party girl LadyJo Martin what her verdict was regarding this new arrangement.
LadyJo Martin: I like it - it feels like home, just like being on OSgrid. Not too many of the regulars are missing. And to paraphrase the movie Field of Dreams, I say 'Make Event Plaza, and people will come'.
LadyJo Martin
Nobody can know what tomorrow will bring, inworld or real world, but Aussie is cultivating an optimistic, wait and see attitude that is an example to us all.
Aussie Envee: At this stage am unsure how long Osgrid will be down, to start off I would imagine one month but may be longer, but I will let everyone know as to what progress is being achieved. Having Events Plaza will take away a bit of the pain of not having Osgrid, I intend running it until Osgrid returns. I thank all the grids that offered to host us and a big thanks to Paela and Dan Banner for their help in setting it all up.
A similar situation can be said regarding Azi Az and Danger Lytton's regular Tuesday bash, which has simply moved over to their Shipyards Grid. Azi and Danger have long maintained this alternate version of their charming european venue, and have used it during past episodes of OSGrid downtime.
Danger Lytton: The Almost Islands was started originally to fill a hole in the community 10 years ago. And we have kept it going ever since. We have gained new members both for the Grid and for the Venue during our times here. Many of the OS Grid folks already knew we are here and some new folks found us. It has been a little slower than we are used to, but that was expected. Our Grid doesn't offer residences so everyone visiting while OS Grid is down arrives from another grid.
