Cornflakes 2025 NW Style

It's Cornflakes Week in Opensim, and the HG Safari crew landed on Neverworld for the second hour of our tour, guests of Govega and all the NVW friends, on the brightly colored Cornflakes stage at Never Plaza, just as we did last year.
Nexus Storm: Welcome to everyone from the Hypergrid Worlds !!!!
Before we get on to the Corny events of the day, just a quick word about hypergridding. If you have recently gotten the 'Avatars from your gird are not allowed' message on a bunch of grids, please don't assume that there is some sort of massive war going on. These are mostly mistakes - the opensim ecology appears to be suffering quite a lot recently, and often the system is messing up, and sending out false 'Not Allowed' messages. Please try again, or try a different avatar, or above all don't assume the worst  ...chances are, it's not the grid owner trying to offend or exclude you, it's just the intertubes getting stuffed up.
For those who may not remember, Cornflakes Week (the last seven days in February each year) is a festival unique to opensim, not linked to any real world festival, nor a holdover from SL, but a reminder of simpler times in opensim when we were all much younger and so were our prims. Not every grid does it, and no two grids celebrate the same way; Osgrid has traditionally done a big party although with the current rush to save .oars and .iars, likely they will have other things on their minds.
Neverworld's house band the King Trio were spinning the tunes for Cornflakes Week
Entertainment supplied by the King Trio who gave us a selection of Country music.
For a lot of people, the name 'Cornflakes' probably only means the breakfast cereal, but it has much deeper roots in the history of opensim. Virtual platforms like Opensim are more and more being recognized as places with a population and its own particular customs, a sort of virtual civilization, and having our own traditions and legends that unite us, well, that is part of what makes our archipelago of grids unique.
Star Ravenhurst rocking a classic Cornflakes outfit
As many of you know there are a bunch of original prim built creations by Cornflakes Woodcock all over the hypergrid - Neverworld has a freebie store with some of them, (address at the end of the post) and there's a collection at the HG Safari clubhouse too, including simple things like a Corny hat, all the way up to  full avatars - the Ant, the YingYang, the little green Alien and Birdy NamNam,  to mention a few, plus some classic outfits with a more human look.
There are also items on the Cornflakes theme by Jupiter Roland and Cherry Manga. It's far from being a complete collection of Cornflakes things, but feel free to drop by and get yours in time for next year. They have been there for several years, but maybe not everyone noticed them, in the rush to get out and about on the Safari tour!
That blue and red carpet, is the Cornflakes freebie shop on HG Safari sim.
Thirza Ember: you know this is the 10th year of Cornflakes Week? hard to believe
Star Ravenhurst: This is my third year joining in.
Lynnestra Parker: I love celebrating Cornflake week
Star Ravenhurst: We are celebrating a life and the contributions he gave to OS. That is special.
Thirza Ember: and also celebrating how silly we all are, some more than others.... YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE
Star Ravenhurst: Indeed Thirza! The one time you can be awkward and no one cares.
Gemmalynn Sabine looking oh so cute!
Govega Sachertorte: ANY OSGRID PEEPS just throwing out there we have a self host software program if you want to bring some of your osgrid regions over its free...   If anyone is feeling homeless don't be we welcome everyone here
Troy Seaknight: yay
Thirza.Ember: oh wow Gov that's nice  yes so nice to see so many friends, older and newer
So many brilliant outfits to celebrate the bright colors of Cornflakes week, but surely Maia Antarra won the day with this great look. She like others had some difficulty navigating the HG but a little bit of persistence paid off...
Maia Antarra: made it
Stone Lunasea
There's always room for developing the silly primary colors of Cornflakes week and it's so interesting to see all the creativity that goes into developing the theme, or adapting another costume to fit the mood.
Thirza.Ember: Stone you look perfect for this event ! hahaha
Stone Lunasea: yeah decided to break out the golden oldie lol
Thirza Ember: so... 10 years ago was the first Cornflakes week event... what was happening in the world in 2015?  Hmm "Uptown Funk" was the biggest song of that year.... that aged pretty well...
Govega Sachertorte: We started in 2015! but not till later in the year. Spent much of my time on osgrid
Shelenn Ayres: 2015 doesn't seem that long ago, the first oscc was before that
Stone Lunasea: 2015, Hope and I had just started dating on SL and I had just opened what would become Hopestone / Magicland. My whole life changed in 2015, come to think of it lol, been together & RL married for 10 years this Sept now
Aramis Heyerdahl: :-)
Govega Sachertorte: amazing how many couples turn to RL couples from virtual
Whirli Placebo: what a great party.  Long live Cornflakes
Govega Sachertorte: with milk, orange juice whatever
Thirza Ember: 2015 was also the year when OSgrid went offline for 8 months
Govega Sachertorte: Thirza, yes I remember very well,,, How I ended up with Neverworld.
Stone Lunasea: the horror lol
Stone Lunasea: if NW went down for 8 months, I think I'd stroke out LOL
Shelenn Ayres: ah yes the metro exodus ...i was in metro before then though
Govega Sachertorte: me too... I loved metro. it was a fun grid too
Whirli Placebo: i love to listen to country music, especially as the flying spaceships go by.    perfect mix of audio and visual
Thirza Ember: we are nothing if not eclectic Whirli, especially at cornflakes
Whirli Placebo: its a lovely trait
FATIH TEARDROP: Roff and Angel it's so sweet :))
Thirza Ember: ... and in the real world, terrorism, nutso politics, and general gloom... in 2015 and today little is different! thank goodness for virtual where you can just avoid all that
DJ Castiel: so true
Whirli Placebo: Thx for the spinning, DJ!   hey i gotta fly,  loved seeing you all.  and i never met him, but every year i miss him terribly.  bye all
Angelic Kisses: night Whirli :)
Thirza Ember: bye Whirli hope to see you next week, we do a thing about the brain next Wednesday... I guess we will need to get some brains in order for that trip to work...
Taarna Welles: I'm brainless
Thirza Ember: after the past few weeks, i'm thinking quite a few brain cells are no longer where they were in my head
Aurora Garcia: everyone has a brain !
Taarna Welles: Okay okay... 2 braincells
Thirza Ember: zoom in to some craniums and make sure...
Govega's hat took center stage!
Govega Sachertorte: I am trying to take pictures of everyone, and posting on Facebook in the Neverworld Group
Troy Seaknight: are we all rezzed? I don't even see me fully
Thirza Ember: one or two for me are resisting rezzing, it's worth the wait though
Sir Max: all are rezzed for me, relog clears faster.
Govega Sachertorte: there is a lot going on right now on this sim...  scripts, people, animations all
Troy Seaknight: and all working... not a bad day for NW
Star Ravenhurst: Hi Thom!
Thom InVR: just been in zen mode enjoying the crazies
Sir Max: beautiful pics
Govega Sachertorte: Its hard to explain Cornflakes
Aurora Garcia: makes me think of breakfast
Gemmalynn Sabine: yep
Troy Seaknight: there used to be a good explanation of cornflakes on the web, can't find it anymore
Govega Sachertorte: yea, Thirza has some links to some blogs over the years she has done
Thirza Ember: maybe you're thinking about this blogpost about Cornflakes? or this one, from the first Cornflakes week?...its weird how ten years seems a short time and a long time, at the same time.
Govega Sachertorte: times flies, and look how far we've come.
Troy Seaknight: the older you get, the shorter it seems.
Thirza Ember: yeah many were saying back then that opensim was on its way out, if you think about it ...we proved them wrong!
But all good things come to an end including our corny party.
Yara Eild: Good night and thanks for all
Alex Salamander: Good night and tnanks for the great music
Troy Seaknight: so many people, in and out of here, this is amazing!
Thirza Ember: Next week is the final week of the season, hope to see you guys there. Thanks so much to everyone here at Neverworld for having the Safari come visit here once again
Star Ravenhurst: It has been fun! TY for having us!
