Ana's Paris

Our second destination for Safari this week was in Paris! What a fantastic venue on NewLifeItaly grid which despite the name s home to people from many parts of the world and different languages. HG Address at the end of the post, as always.
In case you don't know, you can find out about upcoming Safari trips by joining our group in Facebook, or by checking the Events calendar in Opensimworld, where it clearly tells you which will be our first and second destinations each time.
I generally send out a reminder in the OSgird group for HG Safari about an hour before our trips, but since the event attracts interest from many grids, not just that one, social media is a much better way to stay informed. The glamorous and versatile sim owner AnaMari Maggi met us at the sim's starting point, and we also had the company of a big group of locals, including the sim builders, Nadir and Max.
AnaMari Maggi, the region owner
Anamari Maggi[it→en]: good evening everyone
Nadir Rae[fr→en]: Welcome to all of you,  remember to accept the translator and put your native language there please
Angel Dark[it→en]: hi welcome everyone to Paris
Thirza Ember: Nadir you look so cute, very Parisienne- nice baguette!
Nadir Rae: yes I am a Parisian and I have a newsboy near me
It took us a little while to rez, because we came into a large crowd of welcoming NewLifeItalians, there to join the tour. While the region is owned by AnaMari Maggi, the tour was conducted by Nadir Rae, who together with Max Well of Ignis Fatuus Grid, brought the sim into being. We met outside the sim's reconstruction of Notre Dame.
Nadir Rae, our guide - easy to see in the crowd
Nadir Rae: Friends tonight I'm going to be your tour guide we will discover this place together, Welcome to all of you on the New life Italy grid.  We thank Thirza for choosing this place for which Max and I have a particular attachment. Thanks also to Adry, the owner of the Grid. This evening we offer you a unique tour of the memories of Ana who, born in another country, lived her childhood there. This sim is an interpretation of our capital and not an exhaustive restitution. I insist on this point
Nadir Rae: Ah Paris… French capital of gastronomy and love,  Paris enjoys an incomparable historical and cultural heritage. This is what the millions of tourists who come to visit Paris each year appreciate.  But it is not enough to be a foreigner to love Paris, because even if you live in the capital,  it is not uncommon to be surprised by discovering or rediscovering one of the wonders that the city has to offer.  With so much to see and do in Paris, it's difficult to put together a list that gets to the essentials while still having a realistic experience of everything Ana's sim has to offer.
Taking a moment to rez, outside Notre Dame
Ankh Senaton: (la capitale de la gastronomie c'est Lyon ;)
Nadir Rae: /sticks out her tongue at Ankh Senaton
LadyKa.Ramel[fr→en]: lol, Hello Ankh, well, this could be debated, but not tonight ;-)
Thirza Ember: please, no flames in Notre Dame, we don't want a repeat of that accident
marilu newlife [it→fr]: hahahhahahahhahhahaa
Nadir Rae: Ready to discover Ana's Paris? Here we go!  - NOTRE DAME.  Standing above Place Jean-Paul-II (forecourt) on the Île de la Cité, Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral is the symbolic heart of Paris and, for many, that of France. It is the zero point, the start of all the roads in France and their kilometer distances symbolized by a plaque.

Nadir Rae: Napoleon was crowned here, and many kings and queens exchanged wedding vows at his altar.  Before the terrible fire that occurred on April 15, 2019,  we could come and discover the incredible interior of the Gothic cathedral,  but also its exterior with its superb architectural details and the unforgettable view of Paris, between some gargoyles, from the top of the south tower.
Tosha Tyran: unfortunately I still have no feet - so nothing beneath them either... ha! there they are
Nadir Rae: Begun in 1163, and completed in 1345, seriously damaged during the Revolution,  and restored by the architect Eugène Viollet-le-Duc in the 19th century,  Notre-Dame is not the oldest or largest cathedral in France,  but in terms of beauty and architectural harmony, few can compare.
Nadir Rae: Behind the altar, there's a  passage imagined by Max to visit the catacombs.  Dare to descend into the bowels of the city! Visiting the Paris Catacombs is arguably the scariest attraction Paris has to offer,  with kilometers of tunnels lined with femurs and skulls of six million deceased Parisians. Built 18 meters underground at the end of the 18th century  to prevent diseases from spreading to downtown cemeteries,  the Catacombs of Paris are now the scene of a freezing walk. To do on your next visit.
James Atlloud: oh!
Thirza Ember: can we go in?
Ankh Senaton: dont go there with a dog !!
Some of us strolled into the catacomb to take a look - one has to bear in mind, there's a lot of lag in a place like this, so not all the Chat information arrives immediately on every screen, so not everyone understood that they weren't supposed to go to look at the catacombs. But pretty soon we hurried back outside to join the main crowd. Next up, a brisk walk to the Arc de Triomph. Not the uphill slope that rl Paris has - the sim is nice and flat, but it's still a challenge to chase after the person in front. We bravely set forth, following that bright red beret!
Our guide, Nadir Rae
Nadir Rae: Who loves me follows me!The Place de l'etoile. It's a memorial and contains the tomb of the unknown soldier. On July 29, 1836, after 30 years of work, the Arc de Triomphe was finally inaugurated.  Only eleven people were present. Built by Napoleon I in homage to the Grande Armée, following the Battle of Austerlitz.  This battle is the peak of Napoleon's military genius. the arch was built thanks to several architects as well as clients such as: Napoleon 1st, Louis XVIII, Charles X, Louis-Philippe
Arc de Triomphe
At this point, the general translator had stopped working, which, considering that among our group there were people who know French, Italian, and English, but few who know all three languages, was a bit of a big deal. There was a lot of comment about that but maybe Nara said it best.
Nara Nook: It's nice the translator tells me it is not translating but I kinda could tell
This might be a good place to point out that the fab new AMV T-180 translator by Light Sprite has a default setting of 35 m range (how far you can be from the orb for it to work for you).
That ideal for a dance place, but if you want it to reach the whole sim, you must change the default range value. Edit the ball, go to Translator Hub script and at line 25 change the number to show the range in meters that you want, within the range allowed by llSensor.
The maximum range for llSensor is 96m, which means, it'll probably never be possible to set up one translator orb for a whole sim, but still, 96m is much better than 35 meters.
Naturally, being a scripted object, it won't work across sim lines, but by modifying the script you can rez fewer translator orbs - that saves region resources and lowers lag, and also avoids the inconvenience of people having to re-accept the translator every time they move.
Nadir Rae: If you have the opportunity to visit Paris one day, I invite you to go to the top to have an unforgettable view of Paris, with of course the Champs Elysées and the grand boulevards by Baron Haussmann.
Thirza Ember: how much time to make this ?
Nadir Rae: We redid this land, with Max, it took over three months. But it existed before.
There's a neat little touch here, a plane that flies right through the ac de Triomphe. this is not some sort of opensim fantasy, it really happened back in 1919, and was filmed!
The pilot was Charles Godefroy. But there's more here... for those who dare, under this Arc de Triomphe, we're told there's a parking lot. So much to discover here!
Nadir Rae: LA PLACE DE LA CONCORDE Remodeled by myself, it is normally located at the bottom of the Avenue des Champs Elysées.  Overlooking the gardens of the Louvre Museum. I know that Max has redone the Louvre several times.  We have tried to capture the essence of the architecture. It is not the same as the majestic site. However it symbolizes a very important place for art lovers. The Louvre is none other than the best art museum in the world and also the most visited.
Tosha Tyran: arghhhhh, I was stuck in the ferris wheel
Lynnestra Parker: As I cam around I see all kinds of wonderful art.
Nadir Rae: With 210,000 m² of exhibitions, where we find works from almost every civilization in the world. It would require a whole region to completely represent the Louvre inworld, and it would take a lot of time.  The three most popular works here are The Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo and Victory of Samothrace.  Beyond these essentials, the best thing to do is to know where you are going,   and what you want to see first.  But don't be afraid of getting lost, because you are bound to happen upon something memorable!  And best of all, entrance is free!
Thirza Ember: Yay like Opensim!
James Atlloud: yay
Lynnestra Parker: Nadir you and max have done a wonderful job!
Nadir.Rae: Thanks! let's move on, follow the red beret!
Ankh Senaton: Nadir and Max always do wonderful job
Nadir Rae: shouts: I'll walk slowly towards the Iron Lady,  - LA TOUR EIFFEL The second-hand booksellers on the banks of the Seine are still present to this day, after an attempt to make them   disappear, but the Parisians won their case because they are part of our popular cultural heritage.
Nadir Rae:  The Eiffel Tower is to Paris what the Statue of Liberty is to New York and what Big Ben is to London: the ultimate emblem The French engineer Gustave Eiffel, already famous for the construction of viaducts and bridges,  worked for two years to erect this emblematic monument of the 1889 Universal Exhibition.
Ankh Senaton: He also made the armature for the Statue of Liberty.
Nadir Rae:  The Eiffel Tower also salutes the centenary of the French Revolution. Today, it is certainly at night that it is the most beautiful,  when showcased in a sparkling spectacle.  The latter was only to be used for the transition to the year 2000,  but it was so popular that all 20,000 bulbs were reinstalled for permanent use in 2003.
Neo and Nara take advantage of the dancing, up the Eiffel Tower
Nadir Rae:  The Iron Lady does her electric dance for five minutes every hour  from nightfall to one in the morning.  Very visited, expect to queue to go to the top!  A dance floor welcomes you there.
Ana's multi-language school
Nadir Rae: if you want, let's head to a must-see place. If you want to follow me.  Ana lived in Paris during her childhood, she now lives in Italy and lived in Switzerland, also, let's discover her true origin because very close to the embassy there is a school where she gives Spanish lessons. You have now guessed it, it is her mother tongue. She therefore speaks several languages but having left Paris as a young person, she speaks French very well.
Thirza Ember: wow that's wonderful
Next up was the Theatre de Paris. I froze/crashed a lot, so probably missed some of Nadir's narrative. But here's an essential detail...
Laura Latour: This is where we do latin american dances!
Nadir Rae: Here many evenings take place with DJs who offer us all different styles.   The new life Italy grid very very regularly gives musical evenings for you to inform yourself about  on opensimworld or their facebook page.
Nadir Rae: um this Lion speaks to me ... On this square you can admire the Lion of Belfort by Auguste Bartholdi, the same one who created the Statue of Liberty present in the port of New York. He was a sculptor, painter etc. Magnifques fountains among others….  Its story is remarkable.
Leonitas Lionheart: Quien? moi? je ne parle pas :)  ahhhhh this lion
Lifted Pixel studies the elegant interior of the cafe
Nadir Rae: I'm a little thirsty let's go into - LE MOULIN DE LA GALETTE I suggest you come and spend some quiet time in this establishment for two or more people.  The painters' canvases on the walls are the works of artists who lived in this place.
Bellissimo Bar: Thanks Star.Ravenhurst, enjoy your drink. :)
James Atlloud: I'm always happy with a cosmo
Forest Azure: in Paris?
James Atlloud: you are right - cabernet?
Star Ravenhurst: Uh oh!
Bellissimo Bar: Thanks Leonitas.Lionheart , enjoy your drink. :)
Forest Azure: anis?
James Atlloud: sure! ... Ok d'ac!  Off they go
Fores Azure /me slurps it all
James Atlloud: yum
Nadir Rae: Follow the leader : MONTMARTRE
James Atlloud: It was so easy to get up here!
Nadir Rae: In the distance you admire the photo of the Sacré-Cœur is a true masterpiece of Roman-Byzantine architecture, with its plan in the shape of a Greek cross, its 5 domes, it's a photo. However, a mythical place if there ever was one in Montmartre, and Place du Tertre remains the nerve center of the Butte district. I have a very special affection for this neighborhood which is a village within the city. The Place du Tertre with its painters. See the charcoal drawings of famous personalities who rocked Ana's youth.  It's a tourist hotspot but nonetheless retains its artistic aura.
Laura Latour: bellissimo qui *_*

But before you knew it, our hour was up. For anyone who finds it difficult to understand why we only spend an hour on each place, please go and read this page in the HG Safari blog - it also suggests many strategies for having a successful visit.
