Lil Bit More JOG

Just as I publish a post about JOG, yet another cultural event happens there that's worth recording.
The summer festival called Obon, sometimes just called  Bon, is a joyful celebration of the dearly departed, and a moment of reflection about all the positive ways in which our ancestors near or far  have affected our lives, a sort of spiritual giving of thanks.

Mint B's region is a classic, with Cuteulala's castle as the backdrop to the main dancing area. There's a cool romantic midsummer moonlight feel to the sim, perfectly contrasted by the red and white colors of the festival - those are lucky colors!
I really love the little ghosties that dance around the central tower or yagura.
Mint B makes no claim to being a great builder with with mesh or prims but these are adorable and their little dance brings the build to life, if that's not a contradiction in terms. An authentic Japanese music stream and a great conversation that touched on the eating of octopus, ChatGPT, JOG grid money, motion sickness, and Medjed-sama all added to the experience. It's an eclectic place!

JOG grid is not hugely busy at any time, the best time to meet people is on Tuesdays and Sundays around 5 or 6 am SLT. But there were 8 of us at the celebration, which in RL covers the period of 16-18 August. What is lacking in numbers is more than made up for in tech savvy, and they're all clued up about the latest new moves in SL and have their own unique and fascinating take on virtual worlds.

Communication-wise, the group mixes it up with a bit of Voice and text chat. They're extremely nice about translating to fit the needs of visitors. It's a very good idea to pack a good quality translator like Talista when you travel, as this is pretty reliable for en-ja conversations. W is the equivalent of LOL if that helps.
