Neo Rome

Nexus Storm is a great builder! But you knew that already. Also, that the Neverworld family like to collaborate on builds - perhaps you remember the Total Recall region the Safari visited a while back. This time, we went to Rome -with a twist, a Neo twist.
Many people wonder, sure, when you read in this blog Safari people saying things like "I will definitely come back and explore" - do they really mean it? Well yes. Here's photographic proof. There were about 15  to 20 of us on the enormous region, and that of course made a certain amount of lag, even with all the possible precautions taken by the very skilled Neverworld teams - including turnings off their fabulous NCPs. Despite all their best efforts, Whirli found he couldn't move. So he simply waited for us to all leave, and for the region to be restored to its complete glory, and then he went back. Only to be eaten by a bear.
The build is an incredible mashup of all the best styles - roman bones, but its sinews and muscles taken from many fictional genres.
Thirza Ember: this build is a lot for your viewer to take on board... like so many neverworld builds, just huge and gorgeous
Govega Sachertorte: I suggest taking your draw distance and LOD down, you won't need to see anything beyond the city walls :)
Nexus Storm: Sorry we tend to do complex builds with lots of hidden areas
Joshua 7: ;)
Thom InVR: :)
Govega Sachertorte: Nexus whenever you are ready
Nexus Storm: This is neo rome , based on what Rome could of looked like if it had never fallen. We have incorporated old and scifi/cyberpunk elements
Forest Azure: ah... i already wondered about the skyscrapers
Nexus Storm: The Arena we have chariot races here ..well others, do horses hate me. lol. We tried to bring the old and scifi together
Forest Azure: what is this machine? an abacus?
Nexus Storm: Nope all scifi
Tosha Tyran: this is gigantic
Nexus Storm: Yes its lots of layers
Nexus Storm: next the under city slums
Forest Azure: does Nero live here?
Angelic Kisses: smiles
James atLLOUD: Now it's like the Chicago underground!
Nexus Storm: Tis is the remains of the old city built over and left to the pore , criminals and forgoten people ..a place for crime and excess... Entrance to the sewers... Shops by J flame historic items
Ayla Alvarez: yummy
Nexus Storm: Always looking for new props lol
Govega Sachertorte: its a great few clubs here
Thirza Ember: what a great ambience down here
Govega Sachertorte: yes, as most of Nexuses builds are this is multi level, so we are almost sewer level
Thirza Ember: did you build this as a group, like the Total Recall place?
Nexus Storm: yes
Govega Sachertorte: Yes we did, I made some avatars for the sim and they are upstairs in one of the shops, Ares scripted some chariots which are amazing, We also gathered or made other things for the shops
Star Menna: yeahhhhaaa yes that chariot race was sooo awesome
Yara Eild: yes I also like very very well
Forest in shopping bliss mode
Forest Azure: and hair!
Ayla Alvarez: so much red hair, so little time
Forest Azure: lol, you're looking for red?

Nexus Storm: The Sewers lead to the river or the maze
Govega Sachertorte: There is a museum section with some NPCS usually busy doing early romans stuff, but we closed them down for the tour
Forest Azure: yes!
Govega Sachertorte: I love this burning sewer below
Nexus Storm: Museum next, more free shops, Govega created Roman Artifacts
Govega Sachertorte: I made a few pieces of Roman furniture also
James atLLOUD: The 'feel' of being underground was fantastic.
Nexus Storm:  Lots of great little items Govega found or created
Govega Sachertorte: we did a roman bakery (based on what I saw about Pompeii times) and a silver shop and others
Nexus Storm: This way to the baths
Forest Azure: baths!
James atLLOUD: I wuz just in a Bath build last week for VWEC (sl)
Nexus Storm: This was built by Mr Smokes, I like to see in scifi building the combination of old and modern - it's hard at times to do, but it adds depth.
Star Ravenhurst: This is lovely.
Thirza Ember: Lifted, watch out you might be electrocuted! i'm not sure that avatar is properly grounded...
Nexus and Star admire the Bathhouse by Mr Smokes
Lifted Pixel: lol just a little shock, battery powered, not mains powered lol
Thirza Ember: 12 volts of pure energy
Lifted Pixel: more like 9, lol sleepy
Nexus Storm: Next we head to the forum
Thirza Ember: i love the way you guys combine shops with an adventure build, so people can have a bit of everything when they visit
Nexus Storm: Role play , shop , explore
Nexus Storm: Welcome to the Forum , the heart of the city
Ayla Alvarez: a funny thing happened on the way here
James atLLOUD: do I hear beasts nearby?
Govega Sachertorte: I hear lions
Nexus Storm: any criminals were thrown in to the Maze ..the beast gets hungry .
Ayla Alvarez: giggles...how come the beasts can find their way around but the criminals cant?
Govega Sachertorte: they got better noses
Thirza Ember: ut oh... do crimes against fashion count?  cuz... there is a lot of that in opensim
Nexus Storm: If anyone wants to try the maze after the tour feel free just give your name and next of kin to Govega  lol
Govega Sachertorte: we do have a maze, it is a bit nerve racking, there are creatures I believe
Ayla Alvarez: ~everybody ought to have a maze~
Maze is accessed by a hole in the middle of the forum
Star Menna: yeah that thing hates me, i get lost every time
Lifted Pixel: what kind of creature lives in the maze?
Thirza Ember: idk but i bet it is amazing
Forest Azure: the minotaurus? i think you need some thread
Nexus Storm: There is one in there , some of the npcs are off because so many people are here... I built the thing and wont go in unless I have to lol... there is a drugs lab in there and a secret exit to the sewers
Ayla Alvarez: you can go in but you'll never get out, I speak from experience :-)
Angelic Kisses: lol
Govega Sachertorte: its like Hotel California!  one more stop and then we can try the maze
James atLLOUD: The world map looks contiguous
Thirza Ember: is this build on your mega continent?
Nexus Storm: Yes this is connected to the continent free housing sims, let me show you the free appartments here... sorry English phrase "show home" or, model appartment
Govega Sachertorte: but we have some nice apartments here. If anyone needs a vacation home... we do allow hypergridders almost everywhere here in Neverworld to take land or parcels
congratulations to Roff.... he really understood the assignment with that outfit
Thirza Ember: The more you look at this place the more you love it
Govega Sachertorte: let's do the maze. But after, in the arena there are shops and there are free chariots, please pick up a few they are scriptedf for both land and prim
Nexus Storm: Ok heading back to the maze
Ayla Alvarez: any chariots of fire?
Nexus Storm: lol Ares could script that. If anyone needs a map click the box ..if you get lost you can eat it
Lifted Pixel: not even a railing? OSHA won't be happy
Thirza Ember: ok i'm going to say THANK YOU  before i jump in... thanks to all of you for showing us this place  in case i can't type in a few minutes
Fall into the Maze, and you'll get a nasty shock
Ayla Alvarez: my ....what big....
Angelic Kisses: whispers: OW!!
Ayla Alvarez: ...legs
James atLLOUD: ..Rancor.  It's a rancor.
Govega Sachertorte: geez someone sounds hungry
Ayla Alvarez: have you seen the map?
Roffellos Kisses: not that way
James atLLOUD: not the way out
Forest Azure: it should be easier like this
Nexus Storm: cool, Im half way through
Roffellos Kisses: lol damnn
Nexus Storm: This way Im so bloody lost lol
Best way to tour the maze is with its owner who is armed
Minotaur: thirza.ember @hg.osgrid.org, are you sure you want to go this way ?
Roffellos Kisses: ahahah omg hi ....again lol
Nexus Storm: Exit... Never Again lol
Lifted Pixel: lol i was missing the middle section

  1. Also this great post shall not be without a comment:

    Maze
    Life is a maze.
    Life is a phase
    Life is a craze.
    Life decays
    Life can amaze
Life can be full of clichés
Life filled with schooldays, holidays, long delays.
Life is a labyrinth, with a Minotaur in the shades
    Life is full of constraints
So leave the maze, untangle your hair and meet me in a different cabaret, I'll be there
I'll show you how life is just one big malaise, we need to fill the maze with a blaze of glory.
After all life is a story. The ending the same, we all die, but in between, we runaways from the maze can drop the chains and create our own tales of the maze.

  2. Thank you so much everyone for coming to see Neo Rome. This build was near and dear to our hearts. The real genius behind the layout and infrastructure was Nexus Storm. A big thanks to Nexus for guiding us through this multilayered city during the tour. And a big thanks to Thirza and the safari group for coming to visit. Please feel free to come back at any time, we have a lot of themed goodies for everyone.
