Safari in the Fall!

Back on the trail! Here are some commonly asked questions or curiosities.
When is the Safari?
HG Safari returns next Wednesday, September 6 with another stellar lineup of destinations in OpenSim. We visit two different places each week, staying for an hour with each of our two hosts.
Each season of the Safari is 10 weeks long, this season will end on November 6.
Our trips begin at 12 noon Pacific time - called 'SLT' or 'Grid Time' by some. That works out as 3pm Eastern US time, 8pm in the UK, and 9pm in most of Europe.

How long are the trips?
The whole trip is 2 hours, but that is divided between two destinations -we stay a little less than an hour in each place, allowing for the joys of teleporting. There's a trip package available at the Clubhouse each week, with a notecard and LMs, so if you're a little late you can easily find us.

Here is where you'll find each week's Landmarks.
Where do these trips happen?
Our journey begins each week at the Safari Clubhouse, which is at hg.osgrid.org:80:HG Safari
There is a waiting space on the sim, plus a few freebies, and most important, a LM giver so you can get this week's information.  We begin at the Clubhouse, because - this is opensim - so there are occasionally last minute changes of venue. If you can come to the clubhouse a few minutes early, you'll often find a few regulars hanging out, it's handy to Friend people, so they can send you a quick TP if you get a bit lost.

Yes, but where do you go on Safari?
All over the hyperverse! We try to go to a wide selection of grids over the arc of each season, to both commercially leaning grids and the free grids, large and small. They're all interesting and have stories to tell. Our aim is to create friendships and cross-grid connections, so we steer clear of drama. We're not the pixel police, we're here for fun not fighting, so we look for destinations where people feel the same way.
What kind of things do you do on Safari?
Our trips are usually explorations. Each trip is organized so that we meet the region creator in person. The types of activities can vary from touring giant spaceships or carefully recreated RL places, from tech specialists, to art exhibitions, to walk-through story books. Rides, hunts, funfairs, meet-ups with some of Opensim's best known names, and occasionally a musical event - all these things are on the menu.

This season, we kick off with two very different destinations on the same grid, Discovery. It includes a visit to a Dinkie sim of great beauty, and a meetup with one of Opensim's favorite Scripter who will tell us the story of Discovery, and show us some outdoor sports. Join us if you can!
