Going, Going...

 ... but not yet gone!
The OSgrid auction is happening today! Lots of unique items on sale for the fundraising weekend in aid of OSGrid's expenses. The grid relied on donations to keep its servers going, and on a fabulous staff of volunteers who spend endless hours keeping the place and its residents going.
This Auction was first mentioned in the Safari blog back in June when the Auction viewing platform on Echo 1 was still empty - things have changed!
There are vehicles, buildings, items for shops and gardens, art and fun objects. You can get a free region for a year, or have someone come in and terraform your sim.
Here are just two of the many interesting offers... the wall of death looked pretty good - Jeff Hall's a great scripter, and the nearby Cloud Surfer by Dr Dave - also an attractive item. But there's loads more - some items are too big for the viewing platform, to make sure you get over here to check out everything that is on offer - there is a lot!
Grid Admin Foxx Bode dropped in while I was taking these snaps. Why is this auction idea the best way for OSGrid to raise money?
Foxx Bode: This form is great because this grid is about collaboration.  So its by residents, for residents. The items are typically uniquely built for this auction, so the buyer gets something "personal", and the donations power the servers. So everybody wins.  Alas, this is what OSgrid is about. Creativity, making what's not there, creating. And sharing. It's someone's effort. Someone spent time and attention to build these things, and donated them to benefit the grid and thus all its users. This and the regular donations we get covers the expenses of  OSgrids server farm, without "end balance stress".
