Forest and All That Jazz

This Sunday is International Jazz Day, first celebrated in 2011 to honor one of the most idiosyncratic and evocative genres of music. The term Jazz has an uncertain, but sensual and vibrant roots and was first found in print in the USA in the early 1900s, read more here if you're curious. Since Safaris happen on Wednesdays we felt free to move the annual festival up a few days, and have an all Jazz extravaganza this week.
Our first stop was on Virtual Worlds Zone, and grid owner Kashi Takeshi welcomed us to All That Jazz (HG Address at the end of the post, as always) which is a club on its own dedicated sim. We were lucky enough to have Forest Azure performing for us, she sings with a rl Jazz combo, and came up with a song list that was a beautiful blend of classy jazz, blues, and more. Songs were in Stream, and her commentary between the numbers was in Voice, which sounds complicated but actually worked as smooth as a Sinatra serenade.
Kashi Takeshi: welcome! Hope all is rezzing fast and okies... You can toggle the stream if the audio does not work.
Forest Azure
Forest Azure: funny to be 'on the other side' for a change
James Atlloud: It's good for the soul Forest (heh heh)
Youca Godel: A nice jazz club sounds wonderful.
Tosha Tyran: yes, it really has a lot of atmosphere
Kashi Takeshi: I built this club some time ago with the plan to start DJing nice Jazz tunes here. I was quite busy last months but will soon start every Sunday, Asha from Sunvibes will also jump in and hope Azure and other Jazz singers will like to perform here too.

Youca Godel: How hard is it for a singer to participate?  As far as learning how to get and use a "stream"?
Thirza Ember: There is a good How-To video about streaming into opensim (or SL) that was made recently by Lone Wolf. Here is the link to it on Youtube.
James Atlloud: How do you spell the stream host, Forest?
Forest Azure: https://mixxx.org/
James.Atlloud: Yay, thank you Forest.
Thirza Ember: we need an Atlloud concert!
Tosha Tyran: if he sings as well as he dances... why not?
James Atlloud: actually for conferences - not as nice as blues!
The usual mix of styles, some were dressed for the theme of the day, but many not - the dress code for Safari is mostly about avoiding complexity, for lag's sake. This week we had everything from Star Trek to classic Japanese to Furries represented, for example.
If you're planning on joining us, you're very welcome, bear in mind that since some of the grids we visit have issues with avatars that are overly naked or childish, the group steers clear of all that. Good guest rules, in other words.
That's really the way Kashi runs his grid, with the emphasis on getting along. The grid is currently made up of  about 120 regions. Kashi started, as most of us did, in SL before he discovered opensim.
Kashi Takeshi: I witnessed the first teleport from SL to OpenSim.. IBM project back then. That was the start.. then we got great dev's that pickup coding and made OpenSim to what it is today. Virtual Worlds Zone exist for almost 3 years now. It's invite only .. residents can invite people the know are nice and good minded.  Sometimes people do not agree... or have different views, but as long there is mutual respect all is ok.  Never a negative reaction.
Kashi Takeshi
Thirza Ember: That can be a challenge, but worth it...
Kashi Takeshi: I do prefer the anarchy in OpenSim above the commercial SL
Forest began her set with The Girl from Ipanema, and then drew us through a magical trail leading from bossa to blues and jazz standards. More than that, a song with lyrics by Forest herself, about flying, and feet that hurt, and then a song she always sings, in Dutch.  One of the fun bits of Safari is the great mix of languages...
James Atlloud: the music quality is great and Forest has a lovely voice!
Prodyck Theas: Bonsoir
Kashi Takeshi: да здраствует музыка
Kashi Takeshi: long live music
Kashi Takeshi: ζωντανή μουσική
Kashi Takeshi: Es lebe die Musik
Kashi Takeshi: viva la musica
Kashi Takeshi: vive la musique
Nyx Breen: What's happen Cat's and Kitten's
Debora Cabreo: Hi everyone
Ange Menges: Bonsoir à tous
Thirza Ember: is there a lion in the building?
Servex Congrejo: hi folk
Tigger Puschelpaw: I wish all a fluffy evening
Kashi Takeshi: Welcome to All That Jazz :)
Servex Congrejo: Forest: a nice soft voice
Kashi Takeshi: ✾◕ ‿ ◕✾ PoWerrrrr ✾◕ ‿ ◕✾
For those not in the mood to dance, there are plenty of places to sit and chill in the club.
George Duke smiles down on Frank Gresham as he absorbs the All That Jazz atmosphere
In smoky colors, Kashi has achieved an intimate atmosphere that allows for a crowd, and plenty of  cam space - not an easy combination to reach.
The club is detailed but not cluttered, everywhere you look there's some neat touch of class, from the countertops to the photographs on the walls.
A great crowd, from all time zones - those still drinking their morning lattes, and those already enjoying wine o'clock drinks - hopefully this will be the beginning of big things here at All That Jazz. Forest closed her set with That's Life, a perfect some for the opensim experience.
Pure bliss.
