Ad Astra

 Dorrena's World is one of the oldest grids in Opensim and the oldest continually active German Grid with a stable and welcoming community and a wealth of lovely sims full of detail freebies, art, and historical information - not to mention clubs and dance halls. The grid takes its name from Dorena Verne, pictured here.

It happens, sometimes, that a sim decided that, no matter what you want to do, the Landing Point is   underwater. Probably everyone has had this experience, and no matter how many times you restart or re-jig the sim, that wretched Landing Point won't budge.

In the spirit of someone with lemons making lemonade,  Dorena and Anachron Young, her other half and also Grid owner, decided to simply accept the situation and turn this part of the sim into an underwater landscape.

It makes sense, to go with the flow, and the watery light really lends itself to this rather grunge and steampunky set of buildings. We danced here, until it was time for us to move on to our next destination, the grid Atek (this was our first visit, I think) and the sim built by Truelie Telling

Truelie doesn't consider herself a builder but this region is a little work of art and she has filled it with treasures that she has found all around the metaverse, to tell her story as an inworld person, a story about finding friendships and passions that come and go, while true pals and genuine lifelong loves, like hr music making, never go away.

Truelie has always been a strong proponent of free things in opensim, and her contribution back to the community, the entertainment that she brings to so many events, is invaluable. Plus we love her songs like 'Where's My Hair' !

Our final stop was on a region belonging to Lani Global. Most people think of Lani in terms of her famous Mall, which has been one of the foremost sources of freebies since basically the start of OSGrid. This sim, which features lost of little stores where builders from all over the hyperverse can place their objects, is set out a bit like a space station, and it's also the venue for Lani's weekly sci fi get togethers.

 However, that's not the only sci fi place Lani has. Nearby, her sim ixi features some great space spaces (if that even makes sense!)as you can see there is a giant space station up in the sky above the sim, and you can race around inside playing space aliens and looking for an exit - hey in virtual worlds, breathing is never a problem!

This memorial coin made by Lani Global, made of pure virtual gold. It's not a small coin, so I'm not sure how much it's worth but I'm keeping it for now. Not sure if I'd get any change if I try to spend it!
