Jojo at the Cove

 Jojo Apple, also known to many as Harmony Beningborough, has a cute new grid called Harmony's Haven and this week the Safari crew came for a visit. She has been a resident of various grids across Opensim. Recently, she decided to pick up sticks from OSgrid and move into a grid of her own, bringing with her Mermaid's Cove, a region with a waterside theme. The new grid opened at the end of September, so it's a fresh new place for the group to visit, and no doubt we will be back to see even more of Jojo's sims.

Jojo Apple: Welcome to Mermaid's Cove and welcome to my home, Harmony's Haven Grid! I want to thank you all for coming today and Thirza for selecting Mermaid's Cove to visit! I hope you all enjoy the tour! We will begin with a tour of The Siren's Lagoon, then we will move to the Harmony Haven Fair. You will see shops along the docks too, some have freebies collected from the hypergrid and some are just fun displays :)

Jojo Apple: This is my very first grid!! I got tired of losing all  of my builds and home everytime a grid went down so I jumped right in! To my left, there is a sign that says Siren's Lagoon! That is your TPer! There's also a golden mermaid out to the left in the water, you can fly or tp to her and just drop down!

Jojo Apple: This is the first area I built on this region. it took a week! LOL! Welcome, everyone, to Siren's Lagoon! Before we begin our journey into the deep and unknown, I have a few... shall we say... warnings. Nothing too serious, of course. Just a few little matters involving territorial mermaids, mysterious disappearances, and the occasional hungry sea creature. But other than that, you're perfectly safe! Probably.

Jojo Apple: Siren's Lagoon stretches about one-third the length of this region and is home to whales, dolphins, eels, squid, rays, and just about every sea creature imaginable. And, of course, our beautiful mermaids! Some are friendly, some are curious, and some... well, let's just say they haven't quite mastered their people skills.

Contessa Lacombe: If a mermaid bites us do we grow a tail? Wait... I'm thinking of vampires....

Jojo Apple: And friends! In a few minutes, DJ Lavia Lavine will start spinning music for you!

Jojo Apple: You'll notice a couple of shipwrecks scattered throughout the lagoon. Nobody knows exactly what happened to the sailors. The mermaids aren't talking, and frankly, I think that's a little suspicious! We've also discovered ancient ruins and some very questionable pillars believed to have come from unknown planets. Atlantis? Aliens? Bad underwater contractors? Your guess is as good as mine!

Jojo Apple: Our whales can get rather vocal during mating season, so don't be surprised if you hear them calling out for a little romance. And if any of you are wearing wetsuits, please be careful. We wouldn't want an overly affectionate whale mistaking you for a potential sweetheart! That would make for a VERY awkward vacation photo.

Jojo Apple: lol Thirza! It is full of nutrients! Think "FERTILIZER"!! If you know me, you know I have a lot to say!  One very important rule: PLEASE stay on the path! Our mermaids are extremely territorial, and I cannot guarantee your safety if you wander off. In fact, our divers are still searching for a few tourists from last week's tour. On the bright side, we did find one of their shoes!

Spax Orion: That kelp was glowing... did you bring a Geiger Counter?

Thirza Ember: we are 32 and haven't crashed the sim... that sounds like some sort of mutation is happening here

Jojo Apple: Well, you can thank Josh Boam for that! Josh is the owner of OpenSimHosting4Youand he keeps these grids running like the proverbial clocks!

Jojo Apple: Now, according to folklore, mermaids are magical aquatic beings with the upper body of a human and the tail of a fish. Stories about them appear in cultures all around the world, from Europe and Africa to Asia and Latin America. Apparently, mermaids have been causing trouble internationally for centuries!

Jojo Apple:  Depending on which legend you believe, mermaids can be kind and generous, sometimes rescuing sailors, granting wishes, or even falling in love with humans. Other legends blame them for storms, shipwrecks, and drownings. So basically, they're a lot like people. Some are sweethearts, and some you really shouldn't invite to dinner!

Jojo Apple:  The beautiful, singing mermaids we know today may have been influenced by the sirens of ancient Greek mythology. But originally, Greek sirens weren't half-fish at all. They were part woman and part bird! Over the centuries, their images became mixed with those of mermaids. Personally, I think trading feathers for a beautiful fish tail was an excellent fashion decision!

Thirza Ember: how much do you pay in fish food here?

Jojo Apple: Thirza... a girl has to cut costs of petfood. If some of you don't make it out...consider them a small donation :)

Jojo Apple: Scientists tell us there's no evidence that mermaids actually exist. But reports of sightings have continued for hundreds of years. And, of course, those scientists have obviously never visited Mermaid's Cove on Harmony's Haven Grid! We have plenty of mermaids here, and some of them are quite particular about being called imaginary!

Jojo Apple: I wish I could take credit for the plants! the textures on the ground I purchased and the plants I got from Cataplexia Numbers years ago

Jojo Apple: There a lot of things to see on The Cove but for today, the Siren's Lagoon and the Carnival are the highlights, along with DJ Lavia...who happens to be singing this song! DJ lavia is not only a DJ, she writes and sings her own songs!!

Back on dry land, we went to visit the shops and fun fair.

Nara Nook: There's just so much in this region. It's really beautiful.

Jojo Apple: The shops here are some I started building in Discovery in 2017. Some have freebies and some are just display, I love them all

The funfair is a piece of serene nostalagia with kiddie rides, ghost rides, carousels and all the fun of the fair. Cooper seemed to be having a particularly interesting dodgem interaction...

Jojo Apple: The bumper cars are ready to be raced :)... I see they are in action! LOL!

...and Nightshade Ceres of Groovyverse had the best slightly spooky mermaid avie that we've ever had on Safari... the colors and the hair are magnificent.

Before you knew it, was time for us europeans to go to bed, for the Americans who joined us from their workplace to get back to their RL jobs... farewells were plentiful.
