Back in 2010, Mystic found her way to Opensim, and settled on OSGrid. Relatively recently, she made a move to a new grid, which she shares with friends, Escape2Reality, and here she has an annual Halloween region worth a look! The HG Address is, of course at the end. It was too much of a good opportunity to miss when we met up to ask her a few questions about her life on the platform and to know a little bit more about her home.
Mystic Moonshine: Ozzmosis started this grid a year and 2 months ago. We are finally getting things done here, it's been a slow process - rl things of course take first place - but Ozzy, Purr, myself and Hippie are admins here and trying to make a wonderful and inviting grid for all to come use and explore. Many nice places being set up here... I love that the grid is filled with friends and family that want to get together and share and build a happy environment for anyone wishing to do the same.
Mystic Moonshine: It's always nice making friends. However we have had people come join the grid then not come on to hangout or join into the grid activities. We want people that are wanting to stay and interact and enjoy and make the grid better, if that makes sense.
Mystic Moonshine: I have always loved thrillers and horror movies at Halloween, so of course a lot of the scenes here reflect those. The haunted house is always a favorite for everyone in RL so I figured it would be great to make. And ya can't forget to make the graveyard outside, also a frightful pumpkin patch.
Part of this build is a holdover from last year's Halloween, and you can see photos of that in this post. Does Mystic build alone?
Mystic Moonshine: On this lower level Hippie Balbozar helped do some of the tp scripts last year. The rest I created, and this year I made the ghost town on the upper level alone.
To get to the upper level, you step through this portal close to the sim landing point. Suddenly, you'll find yourself in the Wild West... a saloon, a school, pastures and all the horse related services - but also ghosts, monsters and zombies abound.Mystic Moonshine: well for a lot of people of course, it is the season itself. Everyone loves Halloween, but I think it is important to have not only Halloween but Christmas and other holidays here in Opensim, because some can't get out in RL to experience and enjoy them due to health reasons, or maybe no friends or family to share them with in RL. Opensim helps in that area by making it possible to do things we sometimes can't in RL.
Ghostly cowboys on this sim! |
Peeping in through the window of the saloon, you'll find the bony residents having plenty of fun, musical... and otherwise...
Mystic Moonshine: they are having quite the party here... and don't look upstairs, in the brothel... talkin' about naughty, oh my!
Why do skeletons laugh when they make love? Because it's humerus. The General store has some past-their-sell-by-date pies, and make sure you see this busy hand, running the cash register.
Very impressive, if a little bit blood curdling, was the meat shop - enough to turn you vegetarian! But the packaging is very funny. I wondered if this was all Mystic's graphics.
Mystic Moonshine: no I found most those online and cut them out took them in paint and made them fit. I do some texturing myself, but can't take credit for those. I used to make non mesh clothes, I like to create and mod textures, making them work.
Thirza Ember: you're old school from the early days of opensim, you've seen some changes here over the years.
Mystic Moonshine: wow yes I remember when I first started they had just got sitting animations working and we had the old sickly looking ruth avatar and no mesh or anything like that. Now it has evolved and we can do just about anything on opensim we set our minds too. I have a old friend Gimisa Cerise I haven't seen in awhile. He worked a lot getting some scripts working here within opensim way back then, and taught me a lot of things on how to script things, though I can't script myself other then tweaking them to do what I want, but even learned that much from watching him. He helped me make my parachute scripts and my Mystic bull scripts and a few other things way back in 2012. I think it was he is fantastic.
The old school on the Halloween sim |
Mystic Moonshine: Every town has a school that is haunted in the old ghost towns. I was trying to use some of the animesh kids that Bonnie and Victorious in OSGrid made that swing and teeter totter but they wouldn't let me make them transparent They looked half gone so I decided a seesaw moving and swing would work and inside I put the haunted ghost twins. A few years back I made a haunted swamp orphanage in OSGrid, so thought they fit in here.
Whatever you do, DON'T miss the Mine, it's such fun and surprising, that there are no photos here to give it away. The entrance is located about halfway around the sim from the landing point, and if you ignore all the signs telling you not to go in, you'll be very entertained!
At the train station, the ghostly figures say their goodbyes, or hellos, to loved ones who fade in and out in the most poignant way. Behind the Train Depot is the main line, with a beautiful locomotive.
This part of the build is important, because it's here you'll find the Exit portal that will take you down to the infernal dance area where the grid's Halloween Party will be held.Mystic Moonshine |
