Safari Goes Into the Light

First stop this week, Dorena's World! We visited a beautiful art sim, more More Than Lights, in company with two of the creators, Miara Lubitsch and Kjs Yip. HG Address is, of course, at the end of the post.
Our arrival point on More Than Lights
Every Safari begins with an avalanche of greetings... and some teasing. ON the practical side, here's how Safari works. The LMs and a notecard explaining our trip are located inside a giant prim, at the Clubhouse on HG Safari grid. Simply touch and 'Buy' the pack, which has the Week number on it. The weekly LM pack is generally left up from Wednesday to Sunday, for anyone who wishes to take the tour but wasn't able to join the group.
This week, we had the nice mixture of first time Safari goers, occasional and regular Safaristas, as you know all our welcome, and we're very happy to provide TPs and help if you're new to this group hypergridding lark, so don't be shy - join us if you can.
Inside the theater - very comfortable seating!
Star Ravenhurst: Hi Yara and Alex
Yara.Eild: Hi Star, Loru :-)
Loru Destiny: -*- HeLlO-*- everybody :-) I hope I'm not naked
Forest Azure: hi loru .. and no
Loru Destiny: ahh great, a new experience when I HG
Ange Menges: Bonsoir à tous
Forest Azure: James is still white, i see... James fashion!
Star Ravenhurst: At least he isn't all white today
Forest Azure: but still the crocs
James atLLOUD: I hope my shoes no longer glow so.
Star Ravenhurst: They don't seem to be James... Hi Loru! Hi Ange! Hi Prodyck
Loru Destiny: -*- HeLlO-*- Ange
Thirza Ember: ok it's time to go... when you get to destination 1, please go into the theater, grab a chair if you can
Jupiter Rowland: Entrance is next to the guy in the plaid jacket!  That'd be me.
Lynnestra Parker: /me waves at everyone
Badr Norseman: Hello all.. wow .. crowded place
Jupiter Rowland: shouts: Alan, over here!  Prodyck, ici!
Alan Scot: I had to hide in a fantom tree till my clothes arrived
Jupiter Rowland: Ah, safari classic, just with a tree as the extra.
Miara Lubitsch
Thirza Ember: hello everyone, we are guests of Anachron Young and of course Dorena Verne of Dorena's World, and particularly today we have here Miara and Kjs, who are two of the artists who made this sim
Angelic Kisses: ooohh wonderful...thanks for having us
Lynnestra Parker: Thanks for having us, Dorena
Thirza Ember: Kjs and Miara are both at the front, close to the stage

kjs Yip: here I am!!
Miara Lubitsch: Hello and welcome to our Sim More than lights. We have had this sim for a few years and have done relatively little here... At some point, Barlok, Kjs and I started and shaped our island as it is now.
kjs Yip: we know Dorena for about 10 or 12 years...  first in SL and a few days later here...
Thirza Ember: I love the pirate theme here.... if you cam under the theater you will discover what I mean
Under the theater there's a whole other world
kjs Yip: That's the art of Mia... I love it too
Jupiter Rowland: This grid has its fair share of shipwrecks, yes.
Miara Lubitsch: We have known Dorena for many years, from many references and also from and in many worlds.  Later ANa joined :-)
Thirza Ember: you build a lot also in SL, I think? I read something about a big German language literary event, is that right? This is the Discord link if anyone's interested.
Kjs Yip
Miara Lubitsch: yes... we have a sim in sl too... Genever... Exhibitions and readings with the group Brennende Buchstaben will take place there.  The stages for the readings are mainly made by Barlok Barbosa
kjs Yip: Barlok is the artist for the environments of the readings in SL
Beth Ghostraven: does Buchstaben mean "backstabbing" like it sounds?
Thirza Ember: ha no buchstaben is 'Letter' in German
Miara Lubitsch: yes... burning letter :-))
Forest Azure: burning backstabbing... ah, we should have that kind of events here too
Thirza Ember: so, if everyone is good for lag, let's go and see the gallery by Kjs next? you can walk, or tp... it is close
Here's Kjs' gallery, it has an industrial look to it, this building is ideal for art displays. Loving the slightly grungy, lived-in feel to this build. In the background you can also see the cable car, that takes you to the opt of the mountain.
kjs Yip: if you want ts to know, ask...
Thirza Ember: Kjs - tell us about this gallery, is it something unique to here, or is it like a gallery you have in Sl...?
Kjs explains it all!
Beth Ghostraven: Kjs, are the pictures of things you built inworld?
kjs Yip: its not the same as in SL. Here is a little overvie about all I made in SL OS and RL. all is in here...  You can see something about me first work in SL (2007)  and my last experiments in the last years
Star admires the colors
Star Ravenhurst: What was your inspiration for this?
Forest Azure: wow, drawing without a brush!
kjs Yip: I do most projects, one theme in diverse faces... here you see "bleiverglasung" in virtual worlds /Stained glasse)...one floor above you see  "Oskar", see it, and you understand ...
Thirza and Angelic taking a look at Oskar
Thirza Ember: Does the name of the Region come from your gallery - which is all about light?
Miara Lubitsch: more than light is the name of our first common country in sl. We think it's so apt because it just suits us well.
Thirza Ember: Have you ever done any events on the sim? Or do you consider it just a place to experiment?
kjs Yip: its a place to conserve our work...
Beth Ghostraven: I like how all of the transparent elements here interact, depending on where you stand
kjs Yip: yep Beth its the meaning of transperant glass
Miara Lubitsch: no, we just wanted to live out our creativity here. We haven't thought of events.
Forest Azure: too bad .. OS can use more of those
Miara Lubitsch: you are free to host events here. We are very open about that.
kjs Yip: Forest: you are here, thats the event
Forest Azure: lol, ok, /me starts singing
Loru Destiny: I really like the photos with the winding towers, they represent a piece of home to me
Prodyck looking at the RL art on the top floor
From the gallery by Kjs, we headed across the region to see Barlock's area, a combo of landscape and gallery. Reading Barlock's biography, it seems he is a RL artist from Switzerland, his home town is Reichenbach (you know, the place famous for the waterfall and Sherlock Holmes) that explains the mountain scenery here! Here is his website.
Lynnestra Parker: I love the mountains
Miara Lubitsch: Unfortunately, Barlok is not with us today. But he is a great builder/artist in SL and, as you can see, also here. He also likes to tinker with scripts and has been able to implement a lot with ANA here.  Barlok builds scifi stages for the readings in SL on our sim. Here he has an exhibition of his RL and his OS kunst. You can also find links to his website.
Swiss feel to this part of the build. Here you will find the cable car up the mountain, and a boat tour.
Thirza Ember: I saw he has an amazing shop in SL Marketplace, also... Miara, how did you all meet?, did you know each other in RL before SL?
The boar tour is beautiful and atmospheric!
Miara Lubitsch: kjs and I met in virtual worlds and now we have been living together for about 10 years. Barlok lives about 1000 km from here. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten to know him yet.
kjs Yip: my I answer. Miara and I are married... and Barlok is a friend. we know a lot of people , living and working in SL / OS an d Rl like Kupper the "head" of "burning letters"...
Thirza Ember: :-))) we love a romantic story!!
Loru Destiny: With the HG Safari you learn so much about the people here in opensim. What they do, their motives and you see something you would never have seen otherwise
ynnestra Parker: That is true :)
Thirza.Ember: I love that Dorena and Anachron, who have had a grid in opensim for more than a decade, still have strong links with SL... you can be part of the general community, not choose one 'tribe'
Thirza Ember: ok final place, is of course up a mountain, at the Gallery of Barlok I jump there.... it's a little hidden... Just to mention to Kjs and Miara, in our group here, we have quite a few artists, gallery owners... I hope you can friend everyone, you may find some interesting collaborations are possible here in opensim...
Thirza Ember: these are Barlok's paintings from the late 80s and 90's,his Bio is by the door
Lynnestra.Parker: These are beautiful!
Alan Scot: Ah  the old floor reflection  -- cool
Angelic Kisses: these pieces are astounding!
Thirza Ember: Miara and Kjs, I hope you will tell Barlok how much we enjoyed the art
Miara Lubitsch: i take fotos of all of you Thirza.
Thirza Ember: I know there is more to see on this sim, we only saw 4 parts, so - maybe each will want to return, I hope so...  thank you so much Dorena - for organizing this, and Anachron, and Jup and of course Miara and Kjs for showing us around!
James.Atlloud: thank you Miara and Kjs.
Maldrul.Smith: Now that I have the LM, I will be back to explore even more :>
Dorena1 Verne: Always great when you stop by:-)

  2. I did have some issues getting started and ended up trying 3 different grid accounts to be able to move around here. Not sure why, but once I got going I really enjoyed this region. The art gallery in the mountain by Barlok stands out in my mind - especially the reflecting floor trick which is so effective. Thank you Thirza!
