Safari Gets Romantic

The City of Light and the Island of Bled - two very romantic places in the real world, and also, it turns out, on the grid SV3d. This was our second destination of the trip, and a big thank you to Minord Loup for helping this event come about! The HG Addresses of the places we visited are, as always, at the end of this post.
Island of Bled
SV3d is a largely French speaking grid and we were guests of Draghan Marksman and his husband Belko Rau, and the very talented builder Glenn Dayafter. The trip began on a gorgeous sim with a distinctly non European name  ChomromDontri.
kjs Yip: it's a long stairway...
Glenn Dayafter: Yes :)
Belko Rau: It is in original island 99 stairs
Minord Loup: bonsoir a tous
LadyKa.007: Good evening to everyone who arrived :-)
At the top of this magnificent staircase, a beautiful square awaited.
James Atlloud: Wow Forest, you run fast!
Forest Azure: i did not take any detours :) why were you zigzagging?
Thirza Ember: LOL nice to do tourism without taking a plane or a train... there are many chairs, if you can, please sit
Forest Azure: /me orders a pernod... oh and we can smoke in here!
LadyKa 007 [fr→en]: Can we order a drink?
Glenn Dayafter: Les serveurs sont en grève
LadyKa 007: lol, Glenn
James Atlloud: Will anyone see me take a little gelato?
Tosha Tyran: what I always loved about French village: always one bar at the site of the church but it is the first time a see a village with a church and a nightclub next to it :DDD
Draghan Marksman: The name of the sim though is not in Slovene, it is in Thai because the whole archipelago was built around a Thailand themed island, so we kept Thai names everywhere... the meaning of the name is "The Music Club", this is why you have a jazz club here, but since my husband is Slovene, I wanted to pay a tribute to Slovenia, and then we asked Glenn, our master builder to create the sim :)
Draghan Marksman
Draghan Marksman: and now Glenn is going to explain to you how he worked
Glenn Dayafter: So we had this idea to create the club, and Draghan wanted it to be isolated, and around the time Belko had showed us photos of the island of Bled and how beautiful it is, so so Draghan had the idea to create the club on Bled. Belko sent me a lot of pictures of Bled, and gave me information which allowed me to create the island along the same lines as the real place the buildings are representative of the real island.
Thirza Ember: this place reminds me of the wonderful builds on Serenity-grid, I miss that grid
Glenn Dayafter
Ankh Senaton: did you put a real pic of the island somewhere ?
Glenn Dayafter:  in the cafe there is one, and Belko will put a link in the chat so you can see the real Bled

Ankh Senaton: haaa yes, great... so amazing it is from a real place
LadyKa 007  [fr→en]: Glenn is a wonderful builder, who has great attention to detail
James Atlloud: I see Vic Fontaine on the building - that's Star Trek I say.
Draghan Marksman: yes it's a tribute to Star Trek Deep Space Nine.  Vic Fontaine was too cool :) wasn't he ?
Thirza Ember: oh can we also visit the interior of the club? I would love to get a photo of everyone in there...
Draghan Marksman: sure
LadyKa 007: good idea!
This delightful Jazz club doesn't hold a lot of events, although when you see it like this, full of people, it seems like it would be lovely to make a few parties happen. There's no shortage of Jazz singers in opensim, including our own lovely Forest Azure, remember.
For a grid that has just seven residents, it held up really well to the twenty plus people that crowded onto the sim and stared walking around in a random manner. Kudos to the backroom boys and girls.
After thoroughly checking out the ambience in this really high quality club, we headed downstairs to take a tour of the island at ground level.
Glenn Dayafter: where do you want us for the photo Thirza?
LadyKa 007: For the photo, the big ones are in the background and the little ones in front?
Thirza Ember: stand wherever you like, that is the Safari tradition, no organization at all.
James Atlloud: I'm short so I stand in back on the stairs.... ow - my head
Thirza Ember: we look like we are waiting to be rescued
Ankh Senaton: il est grand ce lac
Thirza Ember: it's absolutely perfect and a wonderful romantic place
LadyKa 007: Thank you Draghan for these explanations
We took the waterside path around the island... so nice to see Eden Cat with her great white butterfly wings... and visited the little house hidden at the far end of the isle.

Thirza Ember: it's amazing how different a place looks when it is full of people
Ankh Senaton: un artiste
Hella Yver: love this vibe here well done
Glenn Dayafter: and then we can walk back round to the big steps
Thirza Ember: so many great French creators in opensim...  i'm thinking of the Fashion Show on Friday also
Forest Azure: what fashion show ?
LadyKa 007: The fashion show, on Friday, Atlas Grid
From Bled, to Paris, and we went to visit a Montmartre-style build on a nearby sim. Again, lots of shops and cafes with names taken from real life, in the golden age, when Gertrude Stein was a prominent art collector, patron, and writer. Glenn has done a great job here, too.
Glenn Dayafter: I did some building in SL but not this much
Thirza Ember: space is expensive in SL and you need room to explore big landscape ideas.  i really love the atmosphere here
Glenn Dayafter: yes. This sim is work in progress, some parts are more finished than others, so some buildings you will find plenty of detail inside and some are empty. The church for example is empty, le rat mort you can go inside, and the bars in the two squares here, and the park is done
Forest Azure: Le rat mort?  maybe better not eat something in there
Thirza Ember: I am glad to see you have your priorities correct, first the bars and then the church
Glenn Dayafter: hehe, indeed Upstairs here is the apartment of Gertrude Stein
HellaYver: vraiment bien bravo
Thirza Ember: it; rather dark and atmospheric here, and I love that all the chairs work, so many good places to sit.
Glenn Dayafter: this is why there are 2000 scripts on this sim
Thirza Ember: you have a really beautiful grid here
James Atlloud: It's amazing.
Badr Norseman: Great place! and love the details
Hella Yver: yes really good :)
