Our second stop this week was another first for the Safari, the grid Ocean, founded by Akata Ocean, which at first blush one might think of as a French grid - it certainly is distinctly francophone, but in reality there's much more to their story... isn't that always the case? That's what makes meeting grid owners and residents so interesting. As always the address of the place is at the end of the post.
Our guide today was Eli Funt, she speaks both French and perfect English, so she was deputed to lead the tour.
Many other Ocean locals were on hand to meet us when we arrived on Accueil, their modern Welcome region.
It's a well organized sim designed to be seen with a night sky (I raised the Gamma a bit, since too much night is hard for a newcomer to negotiate) and soon saw that the region includes lots of features, plenty of vehicles and information points, even a chatbot barista called Alice. The first place we headed for the Teleport station.
Eli Funt: Good afternoon everyone =) It is my pleasure to welcome you to Ocean-Grid where imagination holds limitless possibilities. Before we begin, please take a moment to read our code of conduct to ensure a safe, positive experience for everyone. We are so happy you are here with us today Our Ocean family has also come out to welcome you
Forest Azure: /me looks around for the code of conduct
Star Ravenhurst: Thank you for having us.

Tim studies the code. After all, he is a coder. |
We walked a few steps over to the pyramid that houses the grid's teleport system, which consists of a set of photos with descriptions below in three languages - Spanish, English and French - all attractively assembled to make navigating the grid much easier.
Akata Ocean [fr→en]: Ocean-Grid currently has 48 Regions of 1024 / 1024 active plus 12 Regions of 512 residential Eli Funt: There is a guided tour but feel free to explore as well
Thirza Ember: does the grid have an overall theme?

A short walk took us to another pyramid.
Eli Funt: Here you will find information about all of the talent we have here at Ocean-Grid including djs, vocalists and musicians
Thirza Ember: wow you have a lot of musical people on this grid
Eli Funt: We have awesome talent in our family =)) Each with their own distinct style =)
Thirza Ember: what genres?
Eli Funt: All ! Jazz, blues, pop, dance, soft ballads, oldies, rock... a nice variety =)

Eli Funt: This week we have a Ladies Night in celebration of Mother's Day at Ocean-Club, It will feature music from prominent female singers =) Saturday at 1:00 pm Opensim time
Taarna Welles: Sounds great
We were experiencing a wee bit of lag on the region which made communicating a little hard, but there were so many cute things to look at, like these baby dragons !
There were also loads of vehicles, bus, tram, police cars, and motorbikes. Taarna took one of the local busses for a spin, and many others tried out the bikes. Yu had to watch out for the trams which came barrelling along and could easily - dare I say it - tram-ple any body foolish enough to stand on the line!
Tosha Tyran: public traffic like in any german city, hehehe
Finally, we went to meet Alice in the cocktail bar at the foot of the central tower. She seemed a little peeved by so many strangers in town, but that might just be due to Al Scot's surprising nakedness. There are photos of that, but not on this blog.
Taarna Welles: Eli, thank you for showing OceanJames atLLOUD: madame, triple espresso pour favor
Tosha Tyran: hehe, I made a tram tour, it was nice
Star Ravenhurst: Yes, thank you for the visit
Eli Funt:There is so much here to see, including the airport and The Linux Education Center
Thirza Ember: definitely a place to return to to see in more detail!
HG Address ocean-grid.net:9002/Ocean
This was such a fun place with so much to see.
ReplyDeleteAlso, my 'pour favor' mixed misspelled Spanish into French - but it's ironically funny asking a barista to 'pour' lol.
