Safari Magic

And we're off with another season of Safari! Some glitchiness on HG Safari region, but we all seemed to overcome it one way or another, and landed on Wizardry, the freebie shopping region of CyberGlo's grid, Cyberdatastorm. As usual all HG Addresses are at the end of the post.
It was so great to have the usual gang back together, plus some new friends joining us for the first time.
Star Ravenhurst: Hi Lifted! I missed you all! GTS everyone!
Taarna Welles: Hear hear
lifted pixel: Hello! :3
Kelso Uxlay: It looks like people have trouble to TP from HGSafari Clubhouse... I moved back home and jumped from there
lifted pixel: yeah i went back to sandbox plaza and here, no problem
Thirza Ember: we can beat any tp problems LOL
lifted pixel: Safari is Authorized!
Forest Azure: ah, the hop worked
We landed in a beautiful meadow full of flowers.
CyberGlo CyberStar: welcome
Nara Nook: Hi Cyberglo
CyberGlo CyberStar: if it is dark you can make it light by press ctrl shift y
Nara Nook: wow that worked
Tosha Tyran: beautiful... wow - and ctrl shift x makes it dark again
Thirza Ember: thanks for letting us come and visit Cyb... we are all here, can you tell us a bit about how all this got started??
CyberGlo CyberStar: i started making gadgets and magic huds. I used to be in second life, and a friend named Taisha Emerald made a hud and then made over 3 million us dollars from it. Taisha taught me a lot
Tosha Tyran: omg, are you rich now too?
CyberGlo CyberStar: Then I met Silicon Plunket who created a hud called Wishmaster and he taught me a lot of magic too, and introduced me to legend hye, the creator of Alchemy hud and Zack Barclay the creator of charmed hud, and dragon yao the creator of blood hud, and i met many magic creators in sL and learned to make magic huds.
Thirza Ember: So do you just make magic huds?
CyberGlo CyberStar: no, as you will see i make a lot of odd things and i collect a lot of odd things too...
Thirza Ember: we are an odd group of people, so we will fit in well here
CyberGlo CyberStar: Let's take a boat out to the little house first. Follow me click rez sign and rez speed boat or a sub
Tosha Tyran: gluuuuuu I guess I will hav to swim
lifted pixel: love all the boats
CyberGlo CyberStar: lol
Tosha Tyran: wow.... fast
A few more of the group were finally able to jump over
Thirza Ember: james heyyy you made it!
James atLLOUD: Heh - just kept pushing the tp.
Star Ravenhurst: Me too! Hi Dabici!
Dabici.Straulino: ben oui, pour des raisons que je ne comprends pas, quand je vais sur safari, je perds touts mes vĂȘtement
Cyberglo's house is elegant and full of treasures. With so many of us on the regions not every texture rezzed straight off, but considering this is a personal grid not really designed for a crowd, it did brilliantly.
CyberGlo CyberStar: in here for example is the 3d crystal ball that shows everyone's location
Star Ravenhurst:: Good job!
Tosha Tyran: omg ...did you change us into little boxes?
CyberGlo CyberStar: Here on the mantle is Fred Beckheusen's tiny ballerina dancer, I repaired it. This tiny ballerina is free for the taking. I fixed it to work right... and this clock has a sweeping second hand, and will gong every 15 minutes. The time zone is set by simply placing a number in the descriptioon, and it uses .0000001 cpu . Here are singing bowls someone made, that if you click they sing.
Thirza Ember: wow you are all about efficient scripts Cyb!!
CyberGlo CyberStar: that's the prayer wheel in the corner, if you can hear with sound and  upstairs i made a toilet that really flushes that you can sit on... and the lid when it flips down makes realistic flip down noise
Forest Azure: /me giggles... maybe someone should invent someone we can really flush away
CyberGlo CyberStar: oh, let me show you this clock upstairs someone made, it's a treat. So, it is a wooden box but it has a dancer in it and every time the gong goes off the clock face changes - isn't that pretty
The 'little' house is a completely furnished mansion.
Thirza Ember: so Cyberglo, what I admire the most about what you do is this - you don't just script, but you really make the objects live -  you love the objects not just the 'game' of making a script work, and always with an eye on efficiency
CyberGlo CyberStar: here is the tarot table i made it deals cards and reads them
Forest Azure: wow
The Celtic Cross v2: The first card represents the present...
It reveals the issue.   If the card is a court card or Major Arcana, it can be the clients unique position relating to the issue.
The Celtic Cross v2: Three of Coins - Positive Attributes:  Teamwork, Collaboration, Building Something
The Celtic Cross v2: King of Swords - Positive Attributes: Head Over Heart, Discipline, Truth
The Celtic Cross v2: The Second card represents the Challenge...  In the Celtic Cross, this card crosses or impedes the goals and desires of the client.
Star Ravenhurst: That is awesome! I need one of those.
CyberGlo CyberStar: it's for sale for 0 at the magic store
Forest Azure: ah, i have a lot from that store!
CyberGlo CyberStar: and the cards are the really old actual tarot card faces
Thirza Ember: yes so much attention to detail
CyberGlo CyberStar: Off to the magic store
Thirza Ember: let the running begin!
CyberGlo CyberStar: here is the magic store, it is full of endless wonder, there are 6 magic huds. There are many gadgets in the store. For example:  a hud that shows who is using the most sim memory and cpu time. Another example, example:  a hud that acts like an xray and shows you all the scripted objects around you.
Thirza Ember: do you invent all the gadgets Cyb, or do you sometimes build an object based on what a visitor asks for?
CyberGlo CyberStar: i do build stuff,  a lady recently asked me to make a magic hud for gypsy people
CyberGlo CyberStar: upstairs on the shelves are all the gadgets, but you have to go upstairs to see them,

Tosha Tyran: a real wizards library up here
CyberGlo CyberStar: also you can use the blue portals to go to the magic hud center in the sky just click the option that says magic huds
We ended up in a sky platform that looked deceptively innocent... there's a lot going on up there
CyberGlo CyberStar: it's the only hud anyone ever made that has buttons that change color when you click them. I made it.
Forest Azure : /me has wicked plans
Thirza Ember: hehe
CyberGlo CyberStar: these 7 huds are also in the magic shop on the top floor but down in the shop there are more huds
Thirza Ember: how many years of work, do the products on this sim represent, would you say Cyb?
CyberGlo CyberStar: ooh i don't know, maybe 1 year if that
Thirza Ember: wow you're a fast worker!
CyberGlo CyberStar: each hud has different powers, although some powers are the same in several huds, but each has powers distinctive to the entity, the wizards hud is the most powerful. With the wizards hud  you can strike someone with lightning or spy on them tp to anyone in a sim, be invisible, rez shields of various types, clean a sim of physical objects, walk on air, speak to everyone in a sim, push everyone in a sim far away, or pull them to you, and much much more.
CyberGlo CyberStar: many magic huds and gadgets in the magic shop, stuff you will never see anywhere else... ahhh there is the Xray spy hud, and the mystical typing ball, and the radar hud, working star gates with dialers that work
The sky platform with huds..pretty sure the textures didn't rez for me.
Perhaps it goes without saying that with great magic powers, comes great responsibility... to not be a jerk on other people's regions.
Thirza Ember: Always something new here. so are all your freebies on this region? or should people explore other regions also,
Tosha Tyran: exploring is always good, no?
Thirza Ember: indeed, and it's fun to hunt for these things, makes you appreciate them even more
Tosha Tyran: if everybody took as many as I did ...
CyberGlo CyberStar: all my freebies are on this region but as i said they are very unique, you wont find anything like the magic huds anywhere else in the grids. I have regions that are far more beautiful than here, but i shut them down b/c i didn't know if the 12 core would hold us all
CyberGlo CyberStar: would everyone like to see my house ?
Tosha Tyran: yessssssss
CyberGlo CyberStar: follow me, this way
Forest Azure: i can go nowhere, it seems
Star Ravenhurst: Very nice! I like red.
James atLLOUD: whatever I'm walking on is a mystery to me!
CyberGlo CyberStar: it's a very big small house, deceptively big... has 4 floors and many roooms
Tosha Tyran: oh really star? I would not have guessed, hahaha
Star Ravenhurst: This is a really nice home. Nicely furnished.
CyberGlo CyberStar: shouts: computer room on the 4th floor
James atLLOUD: HI Kelso - sorry I can't leave this room.  I do like all the monitors tho
CyberGlo CyberStar: they interface with real web servers, in fact that monitor there shows a real live mainframe
Kelso Uxlay: nice geek corner
Star Ravenhurst: This is an amazing room.
Forest Azure /me gets dizzy from all those doors
CyberGlo CyberStar: all these 5 monitors show different things, like a visitor list of all the visitors in the sim, or opensim world, or sim stats, etc. But the neat thing is i never lose my visitor list. There are tons of gadgets that work here and in the shop.  hehehe
CyberGlo CyberStar: all the screens work if you have media on, one of them even ties into a mainframe computer
Luna Lunaria: I saw that :-)
Luna admires the mainframe
Thirza Ember: nice ! LOL I love that you make them free for everyone to use. so what is the biggest challenge for a scripter in opensim, Cyberglo?
CyberGlo CyberStar: getting things to continue working. They keep changing criteria for scripting, they are tightening all the screws, this meant that many old scripts were broken, and had to go back and re-do them, another challenge is the hypergrid naming system versus the legacy on sim naming system, but it is easily met with some coding... we have to check what we make and fix it
Luna Lunaria: Do the different versions of OS running on difgferent grids affect your work?
CyberGlo CyberStar: yes so you have to write scripts that work on every versiooon of opensim, which is just good scripting, but for instance you used to could write " touch_start() { stuff } " but now you have to write " touch_start(integer p) { stuff } "
Luna Lunaria: Is YEngine now the most common or is xengine still prevalent?
CyberGlo CyberStar: I use Y engine b/c it is the future. X is so primitive compared to Y, there are so many ways to crash a sim running X, for example:  just use llGetUnixTime too a list oover and over until the list explodes -  sim crashes ! Don't worry i told Ubit aboout that and he went back and patched that one.
Luna Lunaria: I've never been a scripter but I understand them enough to be dangerous :-D
Thirza Ember: well this has been amazing fun  but it's almost time to head to our next destination. Thank you so much Cyb for giving us a glimpse... the region has withstood us pretty amazingly!
CyberGlo CyberStar: shouts: many of my other regions are far more beautiful, this place was just created as a store and everything else was a  side effect
Luna.Lunaria: I think you did wonderfully with this region
CyberGlo CyberStar: you're welcome
Forest Azure: well, looking forward to playing with those huds
Alex Salamander: thank you very much
Star Ravenhurst: Lovely place Thank you for having us Cyber
Kelso Uxlay: Thanks for the tour and all the goodies!
CyberGlo CyberStar: my pleasure, I'm glad you enjoyed it, I always thought of it as a throw away sim lol
Star Ravenhurst: No it is Magical!

Star Ravenhurst, clearly not a fan of red....

  1. I appreciate this recap Thirza - so much of Cyberglo's work didn't rez for me. I got a sense of his castle home because it had no walls for most of the time I was there. It's clear he put a lot of time and thought into the build and it was interesting to visit.

  2. James, I'm sorry it didn't rez for you. It could be because there were so many people here. Please do come back and visit at your leisure. :)
