IDD - Great Idea

And what a night it was! 

A night of 30 minute music sets on a special region AMV International,  showcasing singers from around the world, and celebrating the vibrant and fascinating multicultural community we're all part of. 
 The celebration of all things international is of course in the air with the HIE event coming up in April 19-21. HIE is a sort of opensim convention, with a big but simple Expo park, and speakers and art performers doing their stuff in German, French, Italian and Portuguese, with a few hints of Swedish and Hungarian thrown into the mix, and all made clear to you thanks to a cunning system of subtitles so even if you only know English, you'll be able to understand all the tech, art, and cultural goodies that will make up that event, to be held on Craft Grid.

But last night, it was all about AMV and this crazy but unbelievably successful event by the Alternate Metaverse crew! Cat and Cliff of course came up with the concept - an 'International Diversity Day' Concert - but it was a huge team effort, with, among other things, (for surely some worthy names are missing from this list) a beautifully designed hall by Ted Junior and Doc Mercury with the usual attention to detail - a custom backdrop for all the singers highlighting their part of the world. The floor was an AI picture prompted by Clifford Hanger, and you can't say enough good things about brilliantly appropriate particles by the great Zelle Mist -all this and national gift boxes by Cataplexia Numbers. I got the scottish one, it had a tartan breakfast set in it!

The energy in the room was palpable and the crowd enormous - with the inevitable side effect of a lot of mesh bodies appearing in pieces (I'm always amazed that people wear their heaviest avies to 'look their best' an event where they are pretty much doomed to rez badly). But with a crowd consistently topping 50 warm if only partially clothed bodies, there was an amazing atmosphere of fun and friendliness, as people came and went.

Crossing four continents we had a taste of everything from Brazil to Scotland to Newfoundland and Indonesia with plenty of Portugal USA, and Italy in the mix, not to mention the UK and Canada... hmm think that was all of it! I got there a bit late and so missed Safari favorite Joao Frazao, followed by Khiron Ametza, but I did hear Zoree Jupiter, Maven, Clan Escotia, Icky and Sum,  Ian Kitsilano, Nikita Anderson , Zeno Stark . The wonderful Indonesian singer Putri Solo was wowing the crowd as I bowed out, and I completely missed the intriguing Dave King, whose anecdote about Italian cheese still has me perplexed. The evening was rounded off by Cataplexia herself, but I was asleep by then, pondering parmesan. Can't wait for the next one of these! What fun!
