Portugal by Tutz

Every musician likes a nice stage to perform on, but generally speaking, a visiting singer doesn't expect to have a whole sim built for them.
That's what makes the region over on Pangea pretty and amazing, and all around pretty amazing. How did sim Portugal come to be?

Tutz Zabelin: When we at Pangea heard about the singer and guitarist Joao Frazao, we want a good place where he could perform. I was asked if I wanted to build this.
Tutz Zabelin: After looking in Google Earth at the country of Portugal I got a lot of inspiration, the country is amazingly beautiful with long sandy beaches, small villages and towns.
This region is so much more than just a stage for a singer, there is a lot of attention to detail, it is like a true town with so many things happening in all the gardens, the streets,
Tutz Zabelin: oh yes, I saw so many sweet places and beaches. The nature is so nice.

Like so many of us, Tutz got her start in virtual SL back in 2006. She didn't do a lot of building there - her thing was making clothes. Her first real opportunity for building came when she got to when she got to Zandramas. Zandramas (later rebranded as ZanGrid) was online from 2012-2017.
Tutz Zabelin: That was my first home in Opensim, I was there 3 - 4 years. That was about 10 years ago. That was where I started to learn. I had a clothes shop, and I still have one on Discovery Grid - Tutz Fashion - but now the clothes are old :-))
As you can see, she has an instinctive eye for capturing the feel of a place, and bringing it to life in true 3D form. Here on Portugal, figures hang out in the cafes or talk in the streets. You can find all kinds here as you wander the sim, and imagine a dozen life histories playing out in the sleepy seaside town. It's impossible not to love the spirit of Pangea, a very calm and creative place.
Tutz Zabelin: I have lived on different grids - Pangea is the very best. And Marlon of course, the best too ;) The grid has grown over time. We do not have many people living here, because it is not open for moving in.
If you've visited Pangea with the Safari, you'll be familiar with Cherry Manga's Anatobotanica, Bink Draconia's The Good Place, and of course Nyx Breen's builds on immersive, like Jazzland, his 'Day of the Dead' build, and his Cornflakes dance region, and the Pangea Art and Cultural Festival, curated by Lampithaler Artist, to mention a few. But along with these, a vast amount of the regions on the grid, and a lot of the growth in Pangea, is down to the skill and imagination of Tutz.
Tutz Zabelin: I think I have done between 15-20 big sims, you can see them on the Map... There is Italy, Steampunk, Waterworld, Treasure Island, Lapland, some of the sims at Welcome and the 3 Vietnam sims, and I have soon out a sim called God Fall.
Thirza Ember: what gives you the most inspiration?
Tutz Zabelin: a empty sim :)) I have too many ideas of what I want to do. I'm working on a very large sim now. It is based on old Sweden and from the Astrid Lingren book 'Ronja Rövardotter'. I have one also about Oak Island, that's treasure hunting too :)) - it is a small sim at Welcome. I done a very small part at another sim where Pippi Långstrump's house is built... and don't forget, there are several good builder here at pangea, and there are 2 new girls, one from Sweden and one from Portugal. Mys Tigerpaw finished her first sim here yesterday, she is a fantastic builder.
As you can see we all have a dozen reason to explore Pangea... it's a fountain of creativity!
