Sweet Sixteen

Sixteen is an important milestone in any aspect of life, and OSGrid, the 'crossroads of opensim', the Test grid, and home to hundreds of residents, has reached this grand old age with the traditional parties and of course the Expo regions, all shaped like the OSGrid logo.
The expo regions are in a circle in the sea, all around Event Plaza, and contain all kinds of lively tributes to the grid, by its residents.
Matilda Charron: Osgrid is a great community home to many talented people (and creatures) from programming, scripting, wide variety of creativeness and well run events for all to enjoy. It is a great social platform and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. I admire such talent and thankful to be a part of such great place and thankful for the people I call friends.
Unadecal Masala: A very happy 16th Anniversary to the grid, and a big THANK YOU to the team that have made this possible and have supported the entire OpenSim community for so long.
Event plaza has been dolled up for the festivities, gone the concrete floor, replaced with all the colors of a sweet 16th. The music was organized by Aussie Envee, but he had some help.
Aussie Osgrid: I think the entertainment here was top notch, between Rogue and Dan and myself we got the best. Caro Fayray and Wizard Azathoth and I did the decorations. The Grid has grown over the years. Event plaza itself started with just Friday now we are here wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. I find that a lot of second life people come for a look and finnish up staying.
Event Plaza transformed for the Sweet Sixteen celebrations
This weekend, 29 and 30 July, has been a huge success, with dozens of avies present on Event Plaza to sway to tunes by both live performers and fabulous DJs. It was a chance to see lots of old friends, many new, and folk who joined in the fun from all over the hyperverse, ready to party and wish the grid another 16 years at least of further activity and success.
Back in the day, Doro Lundquist hosted a party every week on  OSgrid which was almost the only regular dance event in opensim, and where maybe ten or fifteen people max would gather in a great spaceship build and swap news and enjoy a dance. Things have moved on since then...
Dorothea Lundquist: you know, Dan Banner sent me some old magazine of OSgazet, the early OS birthday celebrations. If you compare it with this 16 years and go back, its so much more stable, yesterday 60+ avi's. I remember we tested over and over again, fingers crossed we not crashed :-))))  The community has changed of course, so much more grids and people hop around, but I think its still a very nice community, people still share, and love if people visit their beautiful places they building. You cannot compare, its progress in many ways , but Osgrid is still the biggest and most balanced and trustful one, especially technical... but I am still a tech noob :-))) that did not changed at all! Its all about the right connections :-)) what we cannot do, others can !
Deanna Janus has been in OSgrid since 2009 and she is has a strong sense of the importance of the spirit and soul associated with the virtual life.
Deanna Janus: It's a deep feeling to meet us all together, here, in our v-world, from all around the planet... everyone in the world, in this very complex planet.
The last word belongs to Grid president Dan Banner
dan banner: 16 yrs is quite the achievement and made possible only by the residents that call osgrid their home! A big thank you to every one of them!
