Meet the Amazoniens

Have you ever enjoyed a movie or series where a band of heroes, living in a land of fantasy and antiquity, enjoy adventures, laughs, dangers, magical and build lasting bonds of friendship?
Imagine you too could be, not a spectator, but a participant in all that, and you have Role-playing in virtual worlds. This week - the Amazoniens! HG Addresses as always are at the end of the post.

Opensim has a bunch of RP groups, spread out over many different grids. You can find accounts of several if you look in the archive of this blog, running the gamut of genres - from the Star Trek group on 3rd Rock, to the Gor world of Counterearth, to mention just two - and we'll be visiting the Brigantia Isles group on Wildwood Bayou Grid at the end of the month. Roleplaying means commitment and preparation, with long and complex storylines, but these are not closed communities, for new people and crossover events are welcome additions to keep the creativity on the cutting edge.
The Amazoniens met us on the beach.
Susi Soderstrom: Kala, welcome to Amazonien.
Tosha Tyran: freud und leid der safaris
Susi Soderstrom: I would like to give you a quick overview of this role-play sim. After the brief information, we will move to a second location. The role-play sim Amazonia existed for almost 16 years in Second Life until last year.
Tosha Tyran: wow
Star Ravenhurst: Long time!
Susi Soderstrom: In the past year, our queen decided to have more real-life experiences than Second Life. Queen was the sim owner. Everyone accepted her decision and remained grateful to her for her commitment, which went beyond just taking care of the sim.
Thirza Ember: yes, that's a long time to have the responsibility!
Susi Soderstrom: Herzogin  Jil from Carima made an offer to our group that no role player could refuse. She offered us four sims that we could design according to our wishes. Sandy, our head scout, quickly built a new Amazonien in the OpenSim platform. This was possible because some of us were already active in OpenSim.
Frekya Vanderbor: she did a good job
Susi Soderstrom: Of course, everyone else also helped make it livable here. We are currently at the harbor, where visitors and goods arrive. This is where the warrior village is located, where weapons are built and maintained, and combat exercises take place.
Forest Azure: /me licks her lips... combat!
Cultivation on Amazonien
Susi Soderstrom: On the other sims, there are the lands cultivated by the scouts. There is also a large swamp area where it can be very dangerous due to the animals and plants.
Tosha Tyran: snakes? spiders?
Forest Azure: ants?
Susi Soderstrom: yes snakes and Spiders ... no ants
Elosina Mandaniel: Men?
Susi Soderstrom: yes, it's Peter
Peter Serrano: Hmpf
Star Ravenhurst: Hahah! Men!
Thirza Ember: oh Peter is the hero not the monster
Tosha Tyran: one can never know, better to be cautious
Frekya Vanderbor: Yes, Peter is the Hero, like Peter Parker or Peter Quill hehehe
Susi Soderstrom: peter is our hero , when he is awake ... for two hour the day:-)
Peter Serrano: /me smiles
Thirza Ember: question - is your role play different now you have 4 regions not 1 region?
Susi Soderstrom: four sims
Peter Serrano: In SL there were 2 Regions, now 4, Its not very different.
Tosha Tyran: more place for the elbows
Susi Soderstrom: and this was the fellow Schamanstudent, Frekya
Frekya Vanderbor: /me waves
Susi Soderstrom: The Amazons have a caste system. We have three castes: the warrior caste, the scout caste, and the shaman caste.
Tosha Tyran: caste in the sense of upper and lower?
Susi Soderstrom: The warrior caste is easy to explain. It includes all the warrior women who fight with swords and bows. The highest-ranking warrior with the title "Kriegerin des Feuers" is also the second authority after the queen. If the queen is not present, the "Kriegerin des Feuers" has the command.
Forest Azure: and whom are they fighting?
Susi Soderstrom: time by time we get enemies here. In the scout caste, we have the scouts led by the "Späherin der sieben Winde".
Frekya Vanderbor: and the Shaman of the seven frogs *giggles*
Tosha Tyran: that is a lovely title
Susi Soderstrom: The 'enemy' are played by second AVs, or visitors playing enemies
Susi Soderstrom
The much maligned (just for fun) Peter is the main writer for the group, and bear in mind that, although the group spoke English with us during our visit, the Roleplay is normally all in German. So if you know German, this is the ideal RP group for you! You can find out a lot about what is going on in the Amazonien RP (and everything else happening on Carima Grid) by following this link.
Not all the SL Amazoniens made the leap over to opensim. That's understandable, change isn't for everyone, however, it's worth pointing out that if you experienced Opensim some years ago, you may not be aware of the big changes here - better communication, more content, and more stable platforms for making scripts work and travelling around the hyperverse, from one grid to another, to explore, find objects you need, and to visit friends. And of course, just because you have a presence in opensim does not mean you can never visit SL - many people do both.
Yoh Shi
Susi Soderstrom: back to the scouts:-) Scouts are the eyes and ears of the Amazons. They observe intruders, animals, and the weather while remaining invisible. They are observing us now as well. :-)
Star Ravenhurst: I had a feeling we were being watched
Tosha Tyran: oh... like big brother?
Susi Soderstrom: Besides, the scouts also provide everyone with food and other necessities. They manage the impressive library and create maps.
Peter Serrano: Sandy isnt here, but Yoh our cat.
Susi Soderstrom: yes , scouts are the internet, big brother und logistic
Thirza Ember: i want to stay with the scouts... I like to eat
Yoh Shi (de -> en): rat
Hmm, not the first snack that comes to mind, but who knows, it could be delicious! The farming part of the four regions is lovely, and our time on the beach gave plenty of opportunities to cam out and see so much, but it's also fun to explore in person, so Susi proposed we move to another part of the build. When there are many Safariens all landing on a grid together, we make a lot of lag, but today's Safari party was smaller than usual, so that made life easier for the grid.
Susi Soderstrom: shall we go or TP?
Tosha Tyran:TP is quicker, but going we see some of the land as well
Forest.Azure: but if we walk, you can gather food Thirza, and hunt
Tosha Tyran: and fight
Woods and fields, rivers, bridges, ruins and canyons - the region has all kinds of terrain to excite the imagination and make role playing even more immersive.
Susi Soderstrom: shouts: our tavern
Elosina Mandaniel: maybe we are in a terrarium and part of an experiment
Forest.Azure: who would have thought amazones have houses
Susi Soderstrom: We are currently at the Shaman's camp. Here we made medicine and the sick and wounded are cared for and healed. The shaman caste consists of priestesses, healers, and shamans. The highest-ranking shaman is the "Schamanin Regina." because the shamans believe in the help of the gods for successful healing, they combine their faith in the gods with medical healing. The shamans use herbs, potions, and other substances believed to possess healing properties. At the same time, they pray to the gods and seek their support.
Tosha Tyran: how many gods are there?
Susi Soderstrom: We have seven gods, six female and one male. The gods share their care for us.
Thirza Ember: the safari has 2 gods... Lag and Crash.... we need better gods
Fores Azure: those are devils :)
Susi Soderstrom: For example, one goddess is responsible for the forest and the animals within it. The male god watches over our men and is in charge of the moon.
Anna Carlberg: The most are hiding to scare for all those women ;-)
Forest Azure: oh... but i always thought the males were hunted and kept as slaves? otherwise the story I once wrote about amazones has it all wrong :)
Anna Carlberg: we have no slaves pfffffff
Elosina Mandaniel: Forest, we let them think they would rule, that's more effective than slavery
Thirza Ember: It is very beautiful here - the way the regions look, is it very different from Amazonien in SL?
Susi Soderstrom: most of our buildings are the same like SL
Peter Serrano: Its not very different from SL, but we are less people here. Childs and furrys allowed here, as in SL.
Thirza Ember: is there a Temple for the gods?
Susi Soderstrom: yes , the temple is for gods, we can visit the temple now... we are not so many people, so we can visit the temple first and then the Sanctum
Susi Soderstrom: sanctum is where the queen lives
Peter Serrano: Please clean your feet before going in
Star Ravenhurst: This is beautiful!
Susi Soderstrom: the temple, here are living our Gods...here we pray to the Gods , or they tell us what we shall do
Yoh Shi: the colorful cairn
Tosha Tyran: very beautiful
Thirza Ember: in the Role Play.... who is the character who is most bad or evil?
Peter Serrano: Most they think, I am that ...If they need someone to test new medicines or weapons ....
Forest Azure: ah!
Nara Nook: :)
Susi Soderstrom: i think about, who is bad... the bad guys are only second AVs or guests
Anna Carlberg: pirates can be the bad guys
Forest Azure: are they killed?
Susi Soderstrom: oh yes, you can kill all second AVs, but not a character who is playing here every
 day
The age-old question is - can the different RP groups across opensim meet up, form an alliance, maybe play on each other's territories? It would be fun to have perhaps a two week festival where the different worlds could all meet up in interesting storylines. Could it happen? Carima Grid owner Primus Caproni  has made a step in that direction, at least as far as being in communication with the other groups.
Primus Caproni: we try to establish an sim named RP-Harbour. from which you can travel to other RP-sims by HG, there are still some details to clear but it will be a little similar to Spike Sols Weltraum -Bahnhof
Tosha Tyran: oh, cool
Forest.Azure: great! it is difficult to find rp sims in OSworld
Our time was at an end, we all left with the feeling that we had only seen a small part of what this world has to offer.
Susi Soderstrom: Thank you for listening
Peter Serrano: Come and see to other times. Here is much more to see. Amazonien and Carima are open anytime
Susi Soderstrom: RP is mostly on Monday, Wedsday and Thursday, with most chars
Forest Azure: but can you join in, in the RP?
Anna Carlberg: You can alwys join
Susi Soderstrom: if you are wearing a suitable outfit , you can play in our Roleplay
Peter Serrano: Perhaps the german language is a problem?
Forest Azure: aber nein
Peter Serrano: Dann gibts überhupt kein Problem
Star Ravenhurst: It is all very beautiful. Thank you for having us.
Tosha Tyran: thanks for the nice welcome and the interesting explanations, Susi
Thirza Ember: next time we bring some human sacrifices.... James, perhaps...
