The Magic Auer

Shapeshifter, by Elif Ayiter, the Turkish artist and academic known in virtual by names such as Alpha Auer and Felix Ringtail,  is a magical sim on New Genres Grid, owned and maintained by Max Moswitzer. Over the many years that is has been here, there have been sea changes - alterations as irrevocable and gradual as the work of ocean waves.
It is a playground for ideas, a counterpane of imagination, a toybox full of concepts and genres.
But it's not child's play.
There are so many charming spaces on the ground level, it is impossible to recollect them all.
The statuary - or is it catuary? is divine.
Some of the delights are architectural, some tableaux, some hover above the landscape, as though they had broken off and begun to float away.
There is even a store where you can find original avatar outfits.
One of the most poignant pieces is the poetry conduit. Almost like a chimney of emotions, with you as the smoke in the flue. Hard to photograph, almost as hard as it is to read words so deep and personal.
And then there is the upper sky, where Alpha has explored ideas about living spaces ancient and modern. Imagine the view if this was your holiday home. Talk about Air B&B.
Keep ascending, there is more. an entire city, striped, cross cultured, angular, specular, spectacular.
The ghosts of blueprints animate walls with memories of great plans of classical pedigree.
Did somebody say classical?
That's right - way back in 2015 the Safari came here for a concert by Tip Corbett, aka Gregory Hall. Fuschia Nightfire - fine artist Nina Camplin - filmed it, with the Turkish buildings, the glass musical instruments, and the whirling Dervishes.
Prepare to be blown away.
I know, right? but the true magic of this sim, the ineffable and ongoing joy of it all is Alpha Auer, a generous, funny, genial and dear friend, an inspiration in every reality, and much missed in this particular corner of the universe. Much love.
Alpha Auer
