On Fluorine

Fluorine is full of toothsome goodies, way more than can reasonably be mentioned in this post, which is one for the ladies. Don't hesitate to jump on over to grid.opensimfest.com:8022:Flourine to do the full tour, and see these builds for yourself.

The theme of Opensimfest 2022 is Medieval/Fantasy which is a great piece of wordplay, because it leaves things open for fans of the medieval, fans of fantasy, and fans of imagined medieval. So that has us all covered. The first build that impressed and inspired me is this one by Susannah Avonside

It's the real deal in terms of medieval builds, and of course Suzi is flying the flag for her beloved Wales.

This true-to-life medieval building takes you back in time to the classic homes of  the 15th century.

Suzi used this house at  Penarth Fawr and a bunch of books on the subject to guide her in representing what homelife would have been like for families in England and Wales - complete with a central fireplace without chimney, glassless windows, and a cosy looking box bed upstairs. The house is built to scale, so over-tall avies may have a problem getting through the door, but if you can't go in, you can certainly cam around the build. A little bit of paradwys.

On the opposite corner of the region Fluorine, the build by Cherry Manga. Cherry has gone full-on fantasy with a little world full of delicate color, light, and movement, like a dream inside a bubble. It's a little oasis away from the bustle of the fair. This video, and the ones that follow, are just a handful chosen from the dozens of great videos prepared by Michael McHugh for the fest. They include pretty much all the gigs of the music events, so you can check out all the great singers and DJs who have participated. it's a great way to familiarize yourself with the entertainment resources that exist in Opensim.
Next up, the garden of the Safari -  a sort of medieval Hortus Conclusus.
Take a look under the portico and you will find 16 images stolen from the great frescoes of Italy, each one telling a part of the story of the Safari. See if you can find Pathfinder's face in there.
Nara Malone, Dorena Bree and Siobhan Muir all had a hand in the next build. This is a flight of fantasy unlike any builds on the sim. It's based on Story Island on Nara's Nook grid, where they are developing strategies in digital storytelling that draw the reader into the story using WebGL and Unity. If you're a lover of fantasy fiction, this is one to explore with care.
Speaking of books, the Sendalonde build is a tribute to one of the oldest libraries in Opensim. Begun in SL, then transferred to Inworldz, Kitely, and now Digiworldz, the library has at its heart fantasy fiction and its enduring link with virtual worlds and the creators therein. While there is quite a team behind the various Sendalonde projects, iterations of its buildings, and contributors to the exhibitions,  Alexina Proctor and Prax MaryJasz deserve our thanks and congratulations for their creation of Sendalonde. It's part of the heritage of Virtual Worlds, and this build will help you know better the place and the spirit behind it.
The medieval era was one of upheaval and carnage, adventure and danger, and the build by Caro Fayray captures that spirit (and kinda points you to a very current conflict also) with her magnificent multimedia build. If you would like to see more of her artwork, do visit her regions Nebula, Art Attack, and The Echoes, over on OSGrid.
Caro Fayray: REALITY is bound by  laws, rules and limitations. FANTASY can break all those rules and the only limit is your imagination. Sometimes these can become entangled and fantasy becomes reality. There is no music, but sounds provide ambience, so turn up sounds and interact! This build will be auctioned at the OSGRID Fundraiser, in September.
These lovely exhibits can be visited personally on grid.opensimfest.com:8022:Fluorine until the fest closes on 24 July
