Fair Progress

This week's HG Safari involved a visit to Wolf Territories to see how the Opensim World's Fair project is getting along. Several of the core organizers were on hand to give a warm welcome to the group! Most of the photos here are by Rosa and Kimm, you can also see some great pics by Star Ravenhurst on Facebook, and of course, the great Lifted Pixel filmed the whole event - you can watch that video on YouTube - don't forget to like comment and why not subscribe to her channel.
This is a massive sim, and the landing point has a 200m tall Observation Tower which seemed the ideal point to arrive  - don't worry, no stairs, there's a convenient TP down to ground level. The view from the top of the tower, when there are a lot of people, takes a moment to kick in, as you would expect of a well filled VAR  of epic proportions. The HG address is... yeah you guessed it, at the end of this blog post, where it always is.
Kimm Starr:  Hi and welcome to the Opensim Worlds Fair build.   Your presenters today are  Kimm Starr, Cooper Swizzle and Koshari Mahana along with our Entertainment Co-ordinator Rosa Alekseev.  We're excited to have you here today for an early sneak peak of the OpenSim World’s Fair, which officially kicks off on March 1st, 2025! This project is under construction and has been since February of 2024 and is no way complete. Everything has been designed to be conveniently close—whether you prefer walking, flying, or driving, all exhibits and entertainment are easily accessible. Directly below and surrounding the landing zone is the heart of the OpenSim World’s Fair, full of amusements, games, and rides.
Dings Digital: I am looking forward to all this
Cooper Swizzle: Every please get on the Trolly
Koshari Mahana: I think we are ready
Kimm Starr: If you would all please take a seat on the OpenSim’s World Fair Trolley. We will be stopping along the way for you to pan around and view.   Please Do Not get off the trolly. The Trolley was created especially for the Hypergrid Safari Tour, so we would not lose anyone along the way.

Lifted Pixel: i really like how the structure is, where you can't tell there's stuff inside it looks like a simple tribute to mondsomething (i'd have to google the name) until you get insideKimm Starr: exactly, theres an explanation on the front

Lifted Pixel: who's idea was it to put together the fair?

Cooper Swizzle: Kimm and Koshari. Then I joined in.

Kimm Starr: On your right is our Time Machine Ride. While this project is a collaborative effort, to the left is Latin Nights created by Kimm Starr. This show venue goes all the way back to give you a fully immersive experience. : We're aiming to inspire participants to go all out with their outfits, embracing the extraordinary. : To your far left, you can catch a glimpse of Cooper Swizzle’s stunning exhibit, Training in the 21st Century. We’ve got two dynamic venues, each featuring four unique acts, all with their own distinct themes.
Lifted Pixel: one question we like to ask: how long have you been in opensim? did you spend any time in SL beforehand?
Cooper Swizzle: all of us were in SL a while back, the 3 of us are in Kitely
Koshari Mahana: I was in SL since 2006, then I went to Inworldz, then Great Canadian grid and then Kitely

Kimm Starr: We’re excited to bring you at least 17 different themed stages, spanning genres like Rock and Roll, Motown, Latin, Retro, and more; each stage’s theme is tailored to match the performer or DJ, so you’ll always have a fresh experience to enjoy. We want to give a monumental shoutout to Rosa Alekseev for her tireless dedication and incredible efforts in orchestrating the entertainment for the Fair! Lifted Pixel: i love the colors of this city build
Kimm Starr: Here we have one of our spectacular Grand Opening stages, the Motown Sound stage, designed by Koshari Mahana. Cooper Swizzle: Brings back the good old times Francisco Koolhoven: Impressive!

The tour passed through the Education pavilion, showcasing innovative ways to use the virtual experience to teach. and the Fashion pavilion. Kimm took a moment to address a question that has exercised many minds in the metaverse. Kimm Starr: Our goal was to create a vibrant, fun, and welcoming atmosphere, and we believe we are succeeding in that. In the past, OpenSim has faced criticism for copybotted objects. For this fair, we encouraged participants to create original content, ensuring a fresh and exciting experience. Rather than policing the event, we focused on inspiring exhibitors, artists, and entertainers to showcase innovative and captivating work. Lifted Pixel: lol smart Dings Digital: good idea

The trolley tour ended, the conversation turned to how you can buy a plot of land at the fair, or become a sponsor. If that kind of thing interests you, please check out the event's website where you'll see all kinds of information about the event dates, and how musicians and performers can sign up to be a part of the Fair too.
Lifted Pixel: once the fair opens, will you leave the region up permanently?
Kimm Starr: not sure yet
Koshari Mahana: No, it will go away sometime after to fair unless Wolf Territories wants to keep it
Lifted Pixel: everyone get around the table please! so we can take a nice picture for thirza
Star Ravenhurst: Thank you for having us
James Atlloud: Thank you Kimm and Coop!
Forest Azure: it looks great already, yay!

HG Address: this should take you to the top of the Observation tower. Or at worst, the base, then you can TP up!
